The first thing the camera sees when it begins rolling is a hand trying to adjust its position. It takes a few seconds before the hand is removed, revealing the owner of the hand. Adrien Cochrane slowly begins to take in his surroundings. No, he’s not in Rome, Italy, but anyone familiar with the famous cities of Europe would easily recognize his current location. The canals, the gondola the Dropkick King was sitting in, the Rialto Bridge behind him. Cochrane wasn’t rowing, but just sitting there as his vessel slowly drifts in the Grand Canal of Venice, Italy.
“Well, I’m not in Rome yet, obviously.”
Cochrane gives a short chuckle. He’s wearing his typical long sleeve blue plaid shirt and a pair of jeans. With the bright sun today, he’s wearing a pair of sunglasses. Thankfully, it was warm enough for him to avoid a jacket for this particular afternoon.
“To show off my nerd side for a little bit, I remember there being an episode of the British science fiction television series that took place here in Venice. It was one of the Matt Smith episodes. Seeing that episode, where aliens and vampires and time travel...it made me believe that Venice was like another planet. But since this is my first time in a lot of these cities, it’s feeling like that during this entire European tour.
“But I’m not just facing another girl on another planet, now am I?”
Another chuckle, but one not of disrespect towards the person Adrien was referring to, but more or less about the irony that this particular person he has had two singles matches in two different companies was the one he was about to face in Rome this coming Sunday.
“I’m beginning to think this is some sort of feud that the bookers are trying to make happen. Not just here. We had this little thing going between us since #FSociety. Hell, it was my very first match as a member of this company, albeit with a different name, was against you. And if this is what it is, Aurora, then you might be the first rival I’ve ever purchased a wedding gift for. Oh...umm...new daughter...do you do baby showers for adoptions? I mean, I feel like purchasing a crib or diaper changing station still seems okay, even if the baby didn’t physically leave your body. Am I crazy for thinking that?
“Anyway, we’ve been in many matches together, even tagged once. You’ve pinned me once. I’ve pinned you once. Everyone and their mother probably already knows that. Probably going to be mentioned at least ten times during our match to the point where the two of us will literally rip off Michael West and Chris Barkley’s headsets and tell them to try to have an original thought for once.
“And you know, one might think this is the great, final tiebreaker. Unless you plan on retiring to focus on your new family, that’s not going to happen and you know it. We only got thirty people on this roster. Our paths will cross a fourth time, maybe even a fifth time. But right now...when in Rome...I need to prove to everyone that doubts what I’m capable of. And the very talented Aurora Graves will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase that. I mean no disrespect and will never mean any disrespect towards you, Aurora. We’re kinda somewhat friends-ish. Definitely on the level of wedding gifts, baby showers presents, Christmas cards, at the very least. But I need every win I can get in this company to keep the grand goal alive: to prove that I am one of the very best. When I step into that ring, I leave it all in the ring. No matter the opponent. No matter the stakes. Even if it’s just a regular match with nothing on the line against an opponent I like and respect.”
A weak smile comes across what was a mostly serious face for the past few minutes as the three-time World Heavyweight Champion. He looks back at his surroundings for a moment before glancing back to the camera.
“You know, I’m not sure you properly get appreciated, especially from my squad. I mean, you were the thing standing between two stablemates of mine running away with the Tag Team Championship, even if they aren’t around anymore. I feel like that whole Rebel Ink versus the Young Cubs might have put up a wall between us. I’m sure the formation of the Rebel Society probably isn’t going to help that cause, even if it is your husband and not you in it. But I’ve gone on record many times that I believe that Rebel Ink might be one of the best tag teams I’ve ever witnessed in person. You deserved to have a chance with the World Title in #FSociety and would have probably gotten that opportunity had the company stayed open a little longer. You’re one of the best competitors I’ve worked with and worked against. If I haven’t shown you enough recognition for what you’ve done and what you can do, allow that to make up for it.”
Adrien nods his head with a wider smile on his face this time. He glances at his surroundings once more, this time with a more concerned look on his face. He reaches over the edge of his gondola, looking for something, and then does the same thing on the opposite end.
“So...I think I lost my oar a while back. Before I even started shooting this video, actually. I’ve actually been stranded this entire time. So...I know the match isn’t for another four days, but I’m really hoping I get back on dry land so that my attendance isn’t in question…”
Cochrane scans the area once more, trying to see if there’s anyone able to retrieve him. After a moment of consideration, Cochrane begins grabbing the GoPro that he was using to shoot this video and points it off to the side of the canal.
“So you see that little ladder right there? I can definitely swim to that. So I tell you what: I’m going to cut off this video feed, thank my lucky stars I have a waterproof case on my smartphone, and go for it. So…”
He points the camera back at himself with one last smile.
“...I will see all of you on Sunday.”
With a press of a button, the feed cuts to black.
You always get under my skin
I don't find it irritating
You always play to win
I don't need rehabilitating
I think I'm on another world with you
I'm on another planet with you
Another girl, another planet
Another girl, another planet

Space travel's in my blood
And there ain't nothing I can do about it
Long journeys wear me out but
Oh god, you know we won't live without it
I think I'm on another world with you
I'm on another planet with you
Another girl is loving you now
Another planet forever holding you down
Another planet
