The scene fades in, showing a grassy, wind swept plain underneath the morning sky. Imposing mountains decorate the backdrop of this seemingly idyllic setting as several lines of Maori warriors in traditional garb stand together in silence, preparing for what they do best, war. One walks before the group and shatters the calm with his cry of...
"TARINGA WHAKARONGO"
<Listen carefully>
The camera dissolves to various scenes of the band of warriors preparing to declare their presence on the field and issue forth a challenge to their enemy through their method of choice, the Haka.
Cut to an closeup of a shoulder. From the shape of it, it's easy to discern the gender of the owner of that shoulder as a man. The shoulder itself is covered in traditional Polynesian tattoos, but when the camera pans down against his arm, we find that the tattoos on his shoulder are but part of an entire sleeve of seperate, but thematically cohesive designs running down the length of his upper arm and ending just above his elbow.
The camera then cuts to a close up profile shot of his face. There isn't much to see, but it is easily to tell that he too is preparing for battle. While the shot continues focusing on his face, from offscreen, we hear the continuing call of the man leading the band of warriors from a fair distance away.
"KIA RITE!"
<Prepare yourselves!>
The scene then cuts to black as words, read out loud by a voice-over artist pan drift into view
"Superstar"
The camera then cuts to the leader of the warriors with his weapon raised proudly towards the sky as he lets loose another powerful cry.
"KIA MAU!"
<Hold fast!>
"HI!"
"RINGA RINGA PAKIA!
WAEWAE TAKAHIA,
KIA KI NO NEI HOKI!"
<Slap your hand against your thighs! Stamp your feet as hard as you can.>
The warriors, in unison, now stand in a horse stance with the knuckles of their fists resting on their hips. They raise their arms once again this time to slap their thighs rhythmically as they begin the Haka
KIA KI NO NEI HOKI!
<As hard as you can!>
KA MATE! KA MATE!
<I WILL DIE! I WILL DIE!>
KA ORA! KA ORA!
<I WILL LIVE! I WILL LIVE>
The scene then cuts to black and the same voice reads words that drift in from the darkness.
"Champion"
It cuts back to the line of warriors
KA MATE! KA MATE!
KA ORA! KA ORA!
TENEI TE TANGATA PUHURUHURU
NANA NEI I TIKI MAI
WHAKA WHITI TE RA!
<This is the hairy man who brought forth the sun and made it shine.>
A UPANE! A KA UPANE!
<A step upward! Another!>
A UPANE KAUPANE
WHITI TE RA!
<Further and further upward
until the sun shines.>
HI!
The camera then cuts to behind the warriors and the camera drifts to reveal a single, blurred figure in the distance. When the focus adjusts, we see that man in modern clothing. He appears an open, hooded jacket. The sleeves look like they've been ripped off, the hood is obscuring his face and the open jacket revealing more traditional tattoos across what we see of his bare chest. It immediately cuts to a close up, full frontal shot of the mans hooded head. A hand in an MMA glove reaches for the top of the hood to pull it down. Revealing it to be Kimo before the scene cuts to black as the voice-over reads one more word.
"Warrior"
The scene then cuts to Kimo, now having removed his jacket and tosses it aside, revealing himself in his ring gear. He gives the camera a quick smirk before issuing a challenge of his own.
Kimo: Bring it!
Kimo's entrance theme plays in the background. The scene then cuts to the team of warriors charging at him with their weapons clutched. The scene then cuts to Kimo making a one-man charge headfirst into the small army.
The scene then cuts to various hilights in Kimo's career in MMA and in wrestling.
