Fighting Against Immortals

The scene opens with Ryuji laying across his bed staring at the roof. He looks over next to him and sees his son Tamaki laying down fast asleep. In just a few short hours his mom would be here to pick him up. Ryuji has no job, no reliable source of income outside a few small checks and his food stamps. It didn't use to be like this. A year ago, Ryuji and his friend Aiden were doing pretty well. They were both employed and living comfortably. Until they announced their departure from their jobs. Ryuji was a professional wrestler, and Aiden was his manager. They met some incredible people, the likes of which include Mr. Delikado, who while very unpredictable and morally distraught, always proved to be there for him. Without him he never would have been able to be in contact with Tamaki. Then there was Miles Blake, the guy that gave Ryuji his big break in the wrestling world. Sure he wasn't the easiest man to work for, but he paid well, and gave some pretty good advice at times. Then finally...he met his ex Melina Garrison. Next to Aiden, Melina even after their split was a close friend to Ryuji and still to this day they remain good friends. They both have move on, and found amazing people to spend their lives with.


Ryuji Takahashi:
Wow...so much has gone bye, and yet here I am. At the bottom of the barrel. As long as I can still provide for you, I won't give up.


Ryuji rubs Tamaki's head and smiles as the boy tosses to the side. Ryuji stands up from the bed and walks into the living room when all of a sudden his phone rings. Ryuji answers and hears Aiden's voice.

Aiden Watts:
Dude! Dude! Dude!

Ryuji Takahashi:
Just one time is enough. What's up?

Aiden Watts:
I'm pulling up, meet me outside pronto.

Confused Ryuji looks out the window to see Aiden pulling up their driveway on his bicycle. Ryuji opens the door as Aiden slams his bike to the ground and runs over to him. Aiden stops and bends over hassling for breath.

Ryuji Takahashi:
You need some water first man?

Aiden Watts:
N-no, I'm fine. I'm ok.

Aiden takes a few deep breaths before grabbing onto Ryuji's shoulders.

Aiden Watts:
Big news! Very very big news!

Ryuji Takahashi
You and Miko are finally getting married!? Dude that's awesome. I know you were talking about it, but I didn't think you'd actually pull it off.

Aiden Watts:
What!? N-no. Well I mean not yet. There's still the planning and she still has to say yes, which I mean...why wouldn't she. I'm nothing but pure hunk in her eyes.

Ryuji Takahashi:
Sure...sure. So, what is it?

Aiden Watts:
Huh? OH! OH! Ok, so you know how you've been unemployed for like a year now right? 

Ryuji rolls his eyes and sighs

Ryuji Takahashi:
Uh huh. Look man, if it's about that shady guy we met last week. The answer is still no, I'm not donating my kidney for "science" especially to some guy named Carl.

Aiden Watts:
No! You told me you're New Years Resolution was to get back into the ring. Well...I pulled some strings and...

Aiden pulls out his cell phone and shows the screen to Ryuji

Ryuji Takahashi:
Whoa! Is that Miko!?

Aiden pulls the screen away in a rush.

Aiden Watts:
No! Not that!

Aiden fixes the text and shows him again.

Ryuji Takahashi:
NGW's development territory "West Coast Genesis" has accepted your application upon further review. We look forward to having you join our roster.

Aiden pulls his phone back.

Aiden Watts:
I got us a job! 

Ryuji stares blankly at Aiden.

Ryuji Takahashi:
Wow Aiden, I- I honestly don't know what to say. I didn't think you had it in you. Thank you so much.

Ryuji hugs Aiden and laughs a bit.

Ryuji Takahashi:
So, what now I just wait for them to book me?

Aiden Watts:
Oh no, you're already booked. You first match is in like a week.

Ryuji Takahashi:
Oh, that's a bit quicker than I thought, but it's fine. I can get a few days of training in. I hope my opponent is ready, cause I'm going to go all out. I'm not going to let up.

Aiden Watts:
Wow, I didn't think you'd be this fired up.

Ryuji Takahashi:
Dude, if there is anything you need. You let me know. Right now I need to set my sights on my opponent. So who is it?

All of a sudden a car horn sounds from the driveway as Melina pulls up.

Aiden Watts:
There she is.

Ryuji Takahashi:
Oh yeah, I suppose you're right. it's time for her to pick up Tamaki.

Aiden Watts:
Oh...no I meant that's who you're fac-

Ryuji Takahashi:
Hey man, can you go get Tamaki? I'm going to let Melina know the big news.

Aiden Watts:
Alright, but something tells me she won't be surprised.

Aiden enters the house to get Tamaki as Melina exits her car. She approaches the front of the apartment.

Melina Garrison:
Hey Ryu. Where's Tamaki?

Ryuji Takahashi:
Oh he's inside asleep, Aiden went to wake him up.

Melina Garrison:
Are you sure Aiden can handle that?

Ryuji Takahashi:
He's still a kid at heart, so I'm sure he'll be fine.

They both share a chuckle.

Ryuji Takahashi:
Oh, by the way. Guess who is now wrestling again?

Melina Garrison:
Going to take a wild shot in the dark and say...you? 

Ryuji Takahashi:
Bingo! Yeah, Aiden got me a job with WCG.

Melina Garrison:
I know.

Ryuji Takahashi:
You do?

Melina Garrison:
Yeah, I also work there.

A look of surprise washes over Ryuji's face.

Ryuji Takahashi:
Oh wow! Talk about a small world.  Well who knows, maybe we'll meet in the ring finally.

Melina Garrison:
Oh um, actually-

Ryuji Takahashi:
But right now...I need to focus on beating my first opponent, and boy let me tell you. I feel sorry for them.

Melina stares at Ryuji with a raised eyebrow.

Melina Garrison:
Oh...do you now?

Ryuji Takahashi:
Yup. After a year away, I'm going to unleash all of that built up inside me and win! I don't care who it is.

Aiden walks out holding the hand of a still half asleep Tamaki. 

Ryuji Takahashi:
There he is.

Ryuji bends down and hugs Tamaki.

Ryuji Takahashi:
Remember, be a good boy for mommy ok?

Tamaki:
I will.

Tamaki rushes over to Melina who picks him up. She turns to leave but stops and turns toward Ryuji and Aiden and smiles.

Melina Garrison:
Good luck Ryuji.

She puts Tamaki in the car before getting in and driving off.

Ryuji Takahashi:
That's what I love about Mel. She didn't have to wish me luck, but she did. Even though this match doesn't involve her, she still want to support her friends.

Aiden Watts:
Oh no, it actually does involve her. In fact it super involves her.

Ryuji looks over at Aiden with a confused look,

Aiden Watts:
She's your first opponent. In fact Mel and myself both requested this match, and it was granted.

Ryuji Takahashi:
Wait what?........WAIT WHAT!? Mel is my opponent!?

Aiden Watts:
Yup.

Ryuji Takahashi:
But-...but I just....she just heard me say....

Ryuji drops to his knees.

Ryuji Takahashi:
I'm going to die.

Aiden Watts:
Hey cheer up man, it'll be great. Oh hey look, Miko and Jessa are coming over to celebrate,

Ryuji Takahashi:
You still got the card of that shady kidney donor?

The scene fades to black as Aiden pulls out the business card.
