“In war, there will be casualties. Whether they be innocent, or not.”
We open on Billy Danielson in the Midnight Steel Headquarters, formerly the homebase for the horsemen. The Midnight Horsemen logos have been stripped from the wall, and all of the gold belts not belonging to Billy, Scotty, and Ruby was melted down to create a golden toilet seat. Ever since the “Implosion”, Billy has been relatively off social media, as he carefully plots his attack on his former stablemates. We open to Danielson in his throne room, sitting stoically. He begins to speak again.
”I only slightly feel pity for you, Maria. You never asked to be dragged into a war between entities. You never asked for this punishment that is sure to become of you at Homecoming, and yet…”
He pauses as he smirks.
”You are just as deserving of it as any of those cowards that your boyfriend associates with. See, he thought that his actions wouldn’t have consequences. Mason thought that by stabbing the man that gave him a shot to be something, pardon the pun, Moore. He bit the hand that fed him, and now he is going to realize really quick how bad of an idea that was.
Mason Moore betrayed his friends. He can try to rationalize all he wants on why he did what he did, but it doesn’t erase the fact that he let Scotty, Ruby and I get pummeled because of his own insecurities. He fears what I’m going to do to you, because he knows that what I say is truth. He knows that he has now put you up on the chopping block, and that there is nothing he can do to stop it without undermining your ability.
Which is very important to you I’m sure. I have no doubt in your ability, Maria, but the fact of the matter is, you are a rookie facing a man that rightfully called himself the emperor of the universe at one point. You are a fledgling fighting a man that consistently flips the wrestling industry on its head, and to say that you will be outmatched and underprepared at Homecoming, well… it’s an understatement to call it an understatement.”
Billy pauses again. This time, he looks up to the single spotlight that is on him, and waves a little bit. The light dims a bit, and Danielson puts his thumb up.
”Maria Valadez, in this court of law, the only crime you are truly guilty of, is association. However, being associated with a traitor is even worse than being the traitor himself. No matter how much you try to come out of your spouse’s shadow, you will forever be bound to his misdeeds, and now more than ever, you are going to understand that you are merely a statement and a target. You are something that will always be used against him, because if Dissension proved anything, it’s that he fears for your safety.
So when we face each other at Homecoming, I am going to exploit that fear of his. I am going to bend you and break you, as I continue my path of guerrilla warfare towards the Horsemen. I am going to bash your skull in with my knee, as your muscle-bound coward of a boyfriend watches in dismay, because he knows that there is absolutely nothing he can do to save you. His heart will break, as your face does the same thing, and it will all be in the name of retribution.
I’m Johnny Rambo in this bitch, and you are merely the first boobytrap the Horsemen will succumb to.”
He laughs at his comment, as he smirks once more, and shakes his head.
”That’s enough seriousness though about the Horsemen, Maria. Now, I’m talking to just you, and nothing more.
See, Maria, as I mentioned before. You are simply just underdeveloped as a wrestler. You won a battle royal to face your boyfriend, but battle royals mean nothing. When it comes to facing a wrestler of my caliber, only another wrestler of my caliber can fight me, not the pond scum that wanted to work with her “boo thing”. The amount of experience I have in such a minimal amount of time, far surpasses anything you hope to achieve in the same amount of time.
I see your potential, Maria. I really and truly do, but potential isn’t a compliment. Potential merely means that you can one day be great, but January 8th will not be that day. The day you land in Cleveland will not be that day. No time before our match will you fulfill your potential and hit your peak, and for that, you will lose to me.
You will scratch and claw your way through this match, I’m sure. You will do it, just to prove a point to your dearly beloved, that you really are strong enough to take care of yourself. Hell, you’ll probably do it, because you want to be the one to get that upset win. You are going to do your absolute damnedest to beat me, and then you will succumb to my Chicago Blackout. You will do everything you can, and you will still fall short, because in this day and age, Maria you best just isn’t enough for you at Homecoming.”
Smirking, as he does, Billy licks his teeth in a sadistic kind of way. He looks out around the room, and claps his hands. The spotlight disappears, and the room fills with lights. A Midnight Steward walks up to Billy, and gives him a can of Dr. Pepper. Billy cracks it open and takes a sip. He kicks his feet up on the arm of the Throne, and sighs in relief as he finishes his promo.
”And hopefully, I can beat you in record time, just so I can catch Kendrick Lamar in the halftime show for the National Championship on Monday. If there is one thing I love more than making statements to my enemies, it’s college football and Kendrick Lamar! Add Dr. Pepper to the mix, and I’m going to beat you so fast and so hard, just so I can make it back before the end of the first quarter. We all know UCF is the true champions, but like I said, I love me some college football!
I’ll see you soon Maria.”
He smirks one last time, before the scene fades to black.
