Inside of the Miles home, it is Christmas afternoon. A red eye flight after Dissension to Atlanta and a drive home to their home in Dry Branch. A few hours of shut eye allowed for Avery and Serenity to get some sleep. Avery rolled over to his side as he spies to the clock. It read 2:34 PM. Avery smiled as he slowly slides out of bed not to take Serenity. He headed quietly downstairs for the final touches in the living room. Filling up her stocking, presents under the tree. He headed into the kitchen to make a pot of coffee and to get some warm cinnamon rolls baking as well. He tried to remain quiet, so that the aroma of the cinnamon would gently wake her from her slumber. She would slowly start waking up, as she does smell it. She rolls out of bed, as she looks around.
Serenity: Ave? Baby?
He obviously did not hear her as he was downstairs. The cinnamon rolls are ready as he pulls them out, spreading some icing over them. The coffee ready, and he pours himself a cup. All seems to be about ready as he slowly creeps towards the stairs ready to wake her up. She was already heading to the stairs, as she sees him.
Serenity: There you are.
Avery looks up the stairs and smiles.
Avery: Merry Christmas, angel.
She smiles back at him.
Avery: Come on down. I’ve got everything ready. I was about to come up there and wake you up.
Serenity: Merry Christmas Devil.
She walks down, Once at the bottom, she leans in kissing him. He kisses her back as he grabs her hand and starts to lead her towards the kitchen. She sees the presents and stockings in the living room. Avery could see her eyes scanning everything, but he insisted she follow him to the kitchen. Pulling out a stool for her, she perches herself up on it.
Avery: Cinnamon rolls. And did you want coffee? Or juice? I was not sure, you know, with peanut?
She smiles as she places her hand on her stomach.
Serenity: Juice baby. I’m trying to cut out all coffee at least.
Avery: We have apple. Orange juice. Or Pineapple mango, your choice.
He grabs a glass and a plate, ready for her breakfast order. He knew that getting something to eat, especially after their late night flight, was important.
Serenity: Orange juice is fine babe. Just get me some food, I’m hungry.
She laughs as she sits down. Avery pours some orange juice into a glass for her and plates two cinnamon rolls. He slides them in front of her, sipping his own coffee and taking a bite of one of his cinnamon rolls as well. Avery checks the time.
Avery: I told mom and dad we would be over around five or so. They said no rush. Annie and Sawyer are going to be there as well; Christmas dinner.
She had already started to eat, as she stops looking up at him.
Serenity: So how much do you think Peanut is going to have for gifts? You know your mom had to of already bought presents, even if it is still too soon I think.
Avery laughs.
Avery: She will be buying the baby shower all by herself I bet.
He takes another bite of his breakfast.
Serenity: Why do I have a feeling it’s going to take two rooms to fit everything Peanut gets?
She looks up at him, as she takes another bite, eating it. She was thinking about that stuff already, as she wanted to be ready for everything.
Avery: Who knows?
He smiles, finishing his first cinnamon roll.
Avery: So let’s see… they said due date is in June. So that means February we should know the sex. That will be an awesome Valentine’s Day gift.
He smiles finishing his second cinnamon roll.
She nods her head yes.
Serenity: You mean that’s only thing getting for Valentine’s Day… dang it.
She laughs lightly, as she was joking. She smiles at him.
Serenity: We should, I can’t wait, don’t think I would wait, and let it be a surprise.
Avery: I want to know, for sure. And no, not the only thing you are getting for Valentine’s Day. Greedy.
He jokes drinking the last of his coffee.
Avery: Finish up so we can get to presents.
He lights up like a little kid.
Serenity: I am…
Serenity starts to eat even faster now.
Avery: I didn’t say to scarf the food, silly. The presents aren’t going anywhere!
He shakes his head and puts his dishes into the sink.
Serenity: Fine… I was just hurrying up again.
She laughs, before she starts to eat again.
Serenity: What presents did you get me?
She looks at him asking.
Avery: You will see. It would not be a surprise if I told you, would it?
He starts to slowly head towards the living room just waiting for her. As he disappears, she hears some Christmas music play lowly as he lights a few candles setting a comfortable mood for them to open their presents.
Serenity: Dang it… alright. I’ll wait.
She says before he leaves the room. As he exits to the living room, she looks down, as she starts to eat more of her food, still wanting to finish it. She finishes it with a few more bites.
Serenity: I’m all done, lets go open them now.
She says to herself as she heads into the living room ready for their Christmas.
