Avery Miles III is walking down a busy downtown street. The scene was not that of Macon, Georgia, but an unfamiliar city with loud traffic and cold winds whipping through the buildings. As Avery crosses the street, the camera pulls back showing the venue for this weekend’s show, Quicken Loans Arena. Quickly, we realize we are in Cleveland, Ohio and that is why Avery is bundled up to the gills. He wore thick jeans, black boots, a thermal shirt with a heavy jacket over it, and a hat that barely displays his eyes. Avery heads towards the glass doors just up the stairs that head into the arena. He opens the door and steps inside as the cold Cleveland air attempts to keep the door open. Finally stepping inside, Avery finds some warmth as he shakes the cold off of himself. Avery was not used to the cold Winter temperatures, and that was quite evident.
Heading just inside of the arena, he shows his pass to get into the arena. The talent was given some time to check things out as the ring was being set up. Avery liked to arrive a couple of days early normally to check things out. One thing he always loved was to find a random seat in the arena and to just sit as if he were a fan. To see what that fan would see in just a couple of days.
Avery heads down the stairs of section C110 as he walks down halfway, and picks out a random row. He moves down the row and sits in a seat halfway down. He takes a seat and looks out as the arena was slowly coming together. With a smile on his face, he unzips his jacket and pulls his hat off. His face was red, thanks to the cold temperatures. Putting his jacket, hat, and gloves on the chair next to him it was time for Avery to speak up.
Avery: The cold winds whip across Lake Erie on the North Coast. Or so, I have learned. This weekend I finally get my hands on Travis Blake. The man that I thought was a better man than he shows publicly. Made a fool out of me, and proved me wrong. It is too bad as I thought Travis and I could share a common goal. New Generation Wrestling has much opportunity in 2018, and together we could have been a powerful team. But no. That was not his goal at all. And he decided to turn his back on one of the few people that had his back. It was Travis’ own doing to why we are here, and I do not intend on starting what is going to be a huge year for me with a loss. 2016 was the best year of my career, and 2017 was a down year. A year I lost who I was. A year I was injured. But I’ve decided what is best for me.
Avery reaches into his wallet and pulls out a small photo of him and Serenity. She has her hand on her stomach. He holds it up to the camera as he smiles.
Avery: Family. Family means the world to me. Without family, I would not have the passion and the drive that I have. And without family, I would not sacrifice everything I have. In 2017 I tried my hand at a few new companies, and while my overall success was more in the positive I was spreading myself too thin. I realized that the best thing for me is to focus and concentrate on my home. New Generation Wrestling. And I have a clear goal in mind. I am going to do what I could not do before it closed. I got a taste of glory with the old Marquee Championship and the tag team titles. Now? I want more. So much more. And it begins with the Spotlight Championship. The stepping stone to launch me into a higher realm. Whatever the future holds for me, 2018 is where it all begins. The Five Lakes Championship. The NGW Championship. Nothing is out of the realm for me.
Avery looks down into the center of the arena. He loved watching the ring and ringside area being setup. It was just a matter of time and he would be in the middle of the ring with all of the eyes on him.
Avery: This match was made personal by Travis Blake. I am going out there to prove to him just why I am the better man. A man that is actually respected in this industry. And someone that actually cherishes respect. Travis knows nothing of respect. And he will claim that he does not care. Just like every scared bully, all Travis wants to do is to be accepted. Continue acting like you do, Travis, and you will further push everyone away. I know that you have what it takes to be a decent guy, but you choose the easy way to be a jerk and to push people away. Call it what you want, but you are the bully on the playground that people avoid not because they are scared but because you are just tiresome to be around. I am going to do the roster a favor and put you down for the three count. I am going to do what many people want to do. And I know that you do not care about winning a fair fight, so my head is going to be on a swivel. I am not some fool that you can trick again, I know who you are, Travis. I am not letting you get away with pulling the wool over my eyes again. You and I are very different people, and it will be evident when I hold my hand out to shake yours and you try to use that as a way to get an upper hand. I live my life with honor. And you? You just live it.
