Inspiration Point Park
Denver, CO

After dealing with the warm, almost summer-like climate that was Las Vegas, the brisk Colorado air was a welcome change of pace for Aurora and Damon. For the first time in – well, ever, Aurora actually felt the need to pack a jacket.
Aurora stood near the edge of the park’s overlook, looking out over a picturesque view of the city. The falling leaves did little to take away from the beauty of her surroundings, which no doubt contributed to the name of the park itself.
Inspiration Point, indeed.
She giggled in spite of herself, wondering just how many cars would be parked along the very spot where she stood late at night, music playing from the various car stereos to drown out the noises that led to the inevitable steamed-up windows. Not that she saw the appeal in such escapades. Perhaps if she had been around during the time when car interiors weren’t small, claustrophobia-inducing little coffins, she might have been more adventurous.
Alas, she was born long after the era of windowless vans with naked women airbrushed onto the sides, the likes of which were the bane of existence of every man that had a teenage daughter. Although, she could easily visualize Damon behind the wheel of such a vehicle. After all, there was the school bus....
Damon’s Voice: There you are, Harley!
Aurora turned around to find the smiling face of her husband Damon standing there, a pair of steaming cups of Starbucks coffee in his hands. She greeted him with a smile and a kiss on the cheek.
Aurora: Hey, Puddin’! That was fast; I didn’t expect you back so soon.
Damon: Well, I was expecting a crowd, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. Anyway, here’s your Caramel Macchiato, milady....
He handed Aurora her beverage as she smiled, inhaling its sweet aroma as the steam pushed through the opening. Damon stood behind her, slipping an arm around her waist as he pulled her back toward his body. Before long, she could feel the heat of his breath on the top of her head.
Damon: So, whatcha thinking about?
Aurora: It’s pretty up here, don’t you think?
Damon: It is a nice view. Of course, having you standing here makes it infinitely more beautiful...
He turned his head to the side to take a sip from his coffee as Aurora leaned her head against his chest, resting her free hand against his arm. Their wedding rings lay side by side, not carbon copies of each other, like a lot of mainstream couples would do, nor would anyone even think they matched at all. Still, to Aurora and Damon, their rings were no less symbols of their love.
Aurora: Shameless flatterer....
Damon: Isn’t that why you married me?
Aurora: One of the many reasons, Puddin’. The main one being because even before you had my heart, you’ve had my back.
Damon: And I always will, Harley.
Aurora turned to face him, never letting his arm leave her waist. She smiled as she let herself get lost in his eyes.
Damon: No matter what, you and I are forever....
There, with the Colorado sunset as their backdrop, Damon pulled his bride in for a long, lingering kiss.
Suddenly, she no longer needed the coffee to keep warm....
