“...Looking Ahead”
Date: December 24, 2017
On Christmas Eve morning, as well as the night of the final Dissension of 2017, Jazmyn Rain is once again alone with her thoughts. This time though, she’s not thinking back to the 2017 that was. This time, she’s thinking about the 2018 ahead. The Charlotte native knows that things aren’t going to get any easier in 2018, especially if she manages to go into the new year with the GCW Global Championship still intact, but she knows that the harshness of the journey ahead is not going to be a deterrence to her as she sets out to achieve the goals that she sets out for herself, as well as the Guardians. Maintaining a positive composure, the GCW Global Champion expresses her final thoughts.
Jazmyn Rain: One last match this year in NGW, one chance to build some momentum going into my title challenge against Jack Tillman. As I look ahead to next year and officially say goodbye to this one, it has occurred to me that there is something that I need to address, that I did the last time I came on camera. Ignorance. Sadly, ignorance is a human trait that no matter how hard you try to ignore it, it is never going to go away. I know this because of the way the Destroyers talk about the Guardians and how 90 percent of the talk from them is Adrien Cochrane with the other 10 percent hardly mentioning myself and the others. I know this because, well, to be frank, I do feel that a portion of this roster with all due respect is overlooking me. As much as I am for my friends, family and fans and trust me, I love them all more than anything in this world, I know in my heart when I am disrespected and judging by many promos from our Warfare opponents going into that match, I definitely felt that disrespect. So, I go into this new year the same way I went into this year: with a chip on my shoulder. Ignorance is a sad thing, but that doesn’t mean I have to let it define how I am going to move forward in my journey.
And sadly, based on the minimal words my opponent had to say, “ignorance” is something that I have to deal with in 2018 and beyond. That’s fine. I ran down basically all instances of ignorance that I had to deal with and overcome this year. I’ve been called worse. I’ve been called “charity case”, “drama queen” among many ridiculous things over the years, but going into the new year, I am going to say this loud and clear. I am NOT going to be ignored. Those of you that know who I am and what I am all about, you know I will always appreciate your support. Those that overlook me? I promise you that I am going to do everything in my power to draw your attention. True, the mission is more important than the attention, but it’s human nature to want to be noticed and I’ll tell you this much, I’m sick and tired of all of the anti-Guardian talk being 90 percent Adrien. Last I checked, Honey, Jessica, Joshua and I all exist as well. Yes, I know that some people in this business, they will never change their minds about me. That’s fine. You can’t satisfy everyone. Ignorance is bliss right?
And Travis Blake, you’re no different.
Jazmyn pauses and sighs as she briefly reflects on the brief words that her opponent for the evening expressed.
Jazmyn Rain: I’m not ignorant. I know who you are. I know what you’ve done elsewhere. I know you’ve got one of the biggest, most annoying egos in this business and if there’s one thing I hate, aside from ignorance, it’s wrestlers very much like yourselves that have to have your ego problems twenty four-seven. You think it’s all about you when you’re ignorant of the fact that everyone in this business is replaceable… even me! In a few years, someone younger can come along and do what I am doing now and on top of that, do it better than I ever did. You are no different from Johnny Arrogant who puffs his chest out and has to brag about this accomplishment or bitch about this thing going wrong. Yes,. you are unique in your own ways as far as your in-ring abilities are concerned, but as far as your attitude? Ego? Ignorance? Dime a baker’s dozen. Of course, that’s not all going to matter that much, is it? At the end of the day, it’s the aforementioned in-ring ability that is going to get it done and for all that you have accomplished and learned, I know one thing you HAVEN’T learned and that’s to not underestimate ANYONE. I’m pretty darn sure you’re underestimating me and I’m also just as sure that throughout your career, you’ve lost a couple of matches to people that you DID overlook and cast them off as people “not in your league”
Believe me, I’ve not only faced people like you dozens of times this year, but also throughout my entire career.
I’ve faced people believing that they are “benevolent queens” who did nothing but spew hatred from their hearts.
I’ve faced jackasses who wanted nothing but to make a quick penny from this business.
I’ve faced self-centered bitches who want to manipulate everything in their favor and want to do everything they can to keep me down.
I’ve faced mult-time world champions that once thought I didn’t belong in the same ring as them.
You get the point, don’t you?
Anyway, what little you said about me is a sample size of that ignorance that plagues your head, that keeps you from reaching your fullest potential because in the back of your mind, you feel like you already have it made and don’t need to do anything else to get much better. Your overall win-loss record and what you’ve done elsewhere speaks volumes, I will give you that. But so does the way you conduct yourself and Travis, I don’t like people like you that conduct themselves the way you do. THAT is where the “lack of respect” comes from. Of course, that’s a foreign language to folks like you. But you… wow you really take the cake.
“Don’t show up for this match”.
Jazmyn sighs and shakes her head.
Jazmyn Rain: How many times have I heard THAT one? It’s that line alone that proves your ignorance. It’s that line that illustrates the very fact that you are underestimating and overlooking me. But it can’t bother me. It doesn’t. It’s nothing I haven’t heard before. You think I’m a waste of time, right? Or at least that’s what you hinted. Just know that I am no slacker in that ring. I’m one of the hardest working people you’ve ever faced. I’m a two-time GCW Global Champion for a reason, after all. I AM, also, the number one contender for the Five Lakes Championship in case you happened to overlook that fact also. Trust me, I AM showing up and I AM going to win. You may not think so, but knowing what I’m capable of against people like you, knowing that in 2018 and beyond, I am going to be facing people like you in the future, and also knowing what I’ve overcome this year, I KNOW I will pull through. So be like the Destroyers: overlook me, act like I hardly exist, do what you have to do. But our match? I’m going to show why in 2018, I am going to have a lot of eyes on me in NGW in the coming year! All you can take from me tonight is a win, Travis. And even THAT? I’m not going to allow you to without a fight!
