The scene opens at a private candlelit table in a clearly fancy restaurant with Jeremy Starling in a nice suit and the lovely Cadence sitting across from him. They hold hands from across the table.
”This all nice or what?”
”Hmm, I’m thinking or what.”
”I don’t believe that for a second. You’re enjoying this and yourself.”
”This has been very nice, sugar, but I thought you had something you wanted to talk to me about.”
”I do actually. As I’ve told you, Starling Associated has amassed several companies under its banner. Some of these include a few hospitals. There’s one in particular in Virginia that’s currently looking to take on interns in their Biomedical Physics department.”
Cadence’s eyes go wide. ”Jeremy… that’s-”
”Your major? What do you say?”
”I… I don’t know. I’m trying to do things on my own.”
Jeremy holds a hand up. ”And you will. Look you should feel perfectly free to decline this offer. I’m not offering this to you because of us. I… took some notes from some of the theories you’ve explained to me and sent them to people who are much smarter than me about this stuff and they were impressed. Then I heard that this happened and all I’m saying is you can get your foot in the door.”
”But it’s still your company. It’s still a conflict of interest.”
”I don’t work that directly or closely with the hiring process. You’re going to get in, or not, on your credentials alone. I can recommend, but my word would only count for so much. Even Living Greatness like me has to play by some rules.”
”So it’d be all me to get this.”
”Yes. Just as you wanted. Just send in your stuff when you want. Think about it at least.”
-------------------------------------------------
”Waaah, I lost because someone used their head to think in a match instead of just trying to muscle through it. That’s how Mikhail sounded after I knocked him out of the ring and won that match. A whiny little bastard who thinks he’s somehow better because he calls himself a devil. There’s a reason I have said I am Born Better. Because I am. I do it all better and after I plowed that girly right down I proved that even two people don’t match me in this business. Still Mikhail got to have his little shot at a possibility. Well, I’ll give Devlin this much, at least he had a sense of humor about it. So if Mikhail needs another humiliation then that’s exactly what I’m going to give to him. What excuse will he come up with time? People talk of how the devil makes them do terrible things. I make the devil dance to my tune!
