'THE JEW BLAZER'
JOSHUA GOLDSTEIN
The Blood of The Covenant
The last day of Hannukah.
And yeah, he really did have someone filming. It’s a special moment. Kaylee doesn’t know.
It was a casual request. Josh asking Kaylee if she wanted to go on a walk with him. He held her hand tightly as they made their way down 5th avenue in New York. It was chilly but despite his skinny frame Josh was well adapted to the harsh winters in NYC.
"Here." Josh says. He takes off his New York Giants scarf and wraps it around Kaylee who was used to more temperate climates.
"Sorry but you're always saying you wanna do the tourist thing a little more so I figured I'd show you one of my favorite landmarks. We're almost there." Josh says. He had lived in New York with Kaylee for so long now but she had only seen a few of the landmarks.
"Between working and traveling, this place still seems so... new. Plus it's like so many cities in one. Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, SoHo, East Village... how do you keep it all straight?"
Kaylee was usually super confident but in this case she was taking his lead, allowing Josh to be the confident one.
"I mean it helps to have been born here." Josh says. They approach a building she's likely seen many times in movies.
"This here? This is the New York Public Library and in my opinion there isn't a more beautiful building in the city. I mean, it may not look like much in the winter but in the spring? It's paradise in the Five Boroughs." Josh says. He puts an arm around her and faces the building.
"This place is amazing, Joshie. Much better than seeing the Statue of Liberty or the Brooklyn Bridge. This is a little more... unique."
She smiles as they looks it up and down. She notices he's shaking a little. She brushes it off as the cold.
"Yeah... they do weddings here, too. It's like...almost impossible to get on the list for it though and even then there's a huge wait to know if you've booked it. Like...you'd have to have booked MONTHS ago if you wanted to get married here on like...I dunno... March 8th. I mean, a guy who was super nervous about disappointing you because he was worried about not getting the reservation would probably have had to feel like a huge schmuck for MONTHS about not telling you just because he didn't want to get your hopes up." Josh says.
He gives it some time to sink in.
"March is a good month. And yeah.. I was hoping that we could sit down and talk-"
She pauses.
"What a minute. Joshie.... did you? March 8th? Are we? Joshie.... Talk. Say something."
"...Surprise?" He says weakly, gesturing his hands toward the building and really hoping he didn't screw up.
"Joshua Goldstein. I love you!"
She hugs him, lifting him off of the ground easily.
"We have SO much planning in SO little time now!"
"And I love you Kaylee Kassie." He says, smiling.
"And I already scheduled a cake tasting if that's cool." He adds. He really was on top of things.
"Um... cake? Yes. This is all... amazing!"
She leans into him, loving the surprise very much.
Josh kisses the top of her head and the two have one more good look at the building.
"Let's get you back home where it's warm, huh?" Josh says. Knowing she likely wasn't enjoying the cold.
"And hot cocoa? Please?" She says as she gives him puppy dog eyes.
“Of course, sweety.” Josh says.
"My mom. Dad. Your mom. Ronnie…" Kaylee says, starting to make a guest list as the two walked off hand-in hand.

“They can make all of the excuses they want. That’s fine. Do you know what the record books are gonna show? ‘GUARDIANSWINLOL’.” Josh says in front of the camera.
“Now I find myself across the ring from Mikhail Reinhardt and it certainly isn’t the first time. One could be so bold as to say that the reason the Black Light District abandoned Redemption Wrestling is they were embarrassed by their losses to a TOTALLY Radical tag team but hey, I’m not here to boast. I have my lovely fiancé here to do that for me.” Josh says.
“Joshie and Ronnie ran those bitches out!” we hear Kaylee say in the background.
“She’s the best.” Josh says with a dreamy sigh.
“Damn right I am.” Kaylee adds.
“I told you all that 2017 would be the year I won my first singles title and you know what? I won two. My goals for 2018 are a little loftier but I believe in myself and I have people in my life who believe in me. My father tried to come back into my life this year and tried to take something away from me that was mine but after lighting the menorah with Adrien, Jazmyn, Jessica, Honey, Eddie, Ronnie, and Kaylee I learned that they are more my family than my father ever will be. There’s this old saying that ‘Blood is thicker than water’ but did you know we use that quote incorrectly? The ACTUAL full quote is ‘The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb.’ That means the bond we form with those we have gone into battle with can be greater than the ties formed by genetics. It means literally the exact opposite of what everyone thinks it means and I’ve learned the truth in those words. And while you all keep talking nonsense about my costume I’m just gonna stand there and smile and shake my head because MAN you guys never learn do you? You stay hung up on the minor details, I’ll be the one with their eyes on the prize.” Josh says, he considers the bold claim he is about to make.
“2018 is going to be the year people start to say ‘Josh Goldstein’ and ‘NGW World Champion’ in the same sentence. It’ll start as a rumbling and then suddenly? There will be no doubt in anyone’s mind that it is time for me to get my shot and when I get that shot? The world is in for a rude awakening and you’ll all finally understand what I mean when I say that the Chosen One is one of the Chosen People. I’ll see you in the ring, Mikhail. Just….maybe don’t be so quick to leave this time once you get beat.” Josh says with a smile.
