"Merry Christmas sparky."
Mason Moore looked up at the TV as Christmas Vacation was coming to a close. He finished with the last piece of tape on a small box wrapped in bright red paper, then attached a simple green and gold bow to it.
"This should smooth over anything the goes wrong with the match."
Mason laughed a little to himself as he hid the box away, then grabbed his phone. He set it up to record and sat back on his couch, clad in a pair of black pajama pants and a sleeveless Moore Power shirt.
"Merry Christmas everybody. Hopefully, you all are getting exactly what you want. I know that I'm certainly not. At least as far as the Christmas Eve NGW show is concerned. I expected to be defending MY Spotlight title on this show, but I damn sure didn't expect the opponent I have. Before we get in to that though, let's go back a little bit. Two weeks ago, NGW saw quite possibly the biggest match in company history. Four teams of four went inside of a cage and battled for supremacy. Going in to that match, I was beyond confident in myself and my teammates. I came in to the match, evened things up for my team and just went at everyone who wasn't an ally. Just a few minutes after I came in to the match, Daisy Rose ended up being eliminated. and while Jessica Nitoh may have got the pin on her, it was me manhandling her and tossing her all over the place that got her into a position where Nitoh could hit that impressive dive from the top of the cell. I hope that neither one of them ever forgets that."
Mason raises up his right arm and flexes his bicep, looking over it as he shows off his muscles.
"My power as on full display in that match. Not only did I toss Daisy around, I put two grown men up on to my massive shoulders and tossed them head first in to the steel like they were a couple of lawn darts. Then, I pinned Avery Miles for a second time. Within five minutes of me entering that match, the entire landscape had completely changed. The Horsemen were the only complete team left. Things were going really well for us. Ruby had entered the match and while we hadn't eliminated anyone else, we had the momentum in control. You only had two members of the other teams left, nobody was gonna work with The Destroyers, Alex Jones was the only one in the ring for his team... and then we were betrayed. The final participant was announced, the last member of team AA came out. Coral Rose, a Horsemen, one of our own, had decided to be part of another team. Now, well we've talked and things have been worked out, but at the time it was a slap in the face of every damn one of us inside that ring."
Mason stops for a second, shakes his head and looks up at the TV as it's switched over to It's A Wonderful Life.
"You would think that would be the worst thing to happen to our group in that match. Unfortunately, the shock gave Team AA a chance to strike, and strike they did. Ruby was put through a table and eliminated. It was bad, but there were still three of us. Obviously I was concerned for my friend, but there was a job to do. Unfortunately, not ever Horsemen realized that and Scotty abandoned us to go and take care of his girlfriend. Never mind that she was already being looked at by medical professionals and all he did was get in their way while leaving me and Billy high and dry. To get rid of me, it took multiple kendo stick shots and brass knuckles, but I was gone and we were down to one. So, The Midnight Horsemen lost the Warfare match. As of later, there has been a lot of accusations tossed around, a meeting that was missed by one Horsemen, and we're about to see two of them face off in a title match in another company. I am honestly not completely sure how The Midnight Horsemen are going to look as we move forward, if we even do."
Mason stops again and looks over at the tree, staring straight at the Midnight Horsemen ornament. He then looks up above his fireplace, staring at the Christmas cards he's received. Scotty and Ruby, Coral and WL, Al Envy and Jessa, even Hammerstein had sent one. He turns back to the camera and gives a slight sigh.
"The only thing I'm certain of as I go forward in to the next episode of Dissension, is that I get to share the ring with my amazing beautiful girlfriend, Maria Valadez. Unfortunately, it's as opponents and not partners. Maybe this is some kind of messed up payback for me agreeing with that asshole Shields, that there could be a little bit of bias from the people in charge of this company. It was certainly a logical explanation for why Daisy Rose was randomly added to a Spotlight title match that had already been booked. Maybe this is just because Maria won that battle royal and the prize was a Spotlight title match. Whether punishment to me or reward for her, it doesn't make a big difference. I still have to go out to that ring Sunday night and defend MY Title. Right now, I am sitting at five successful defenses. That ties the record for any other Spotlight, Marquee, or Genesis champion. I have held this title for ninety six days, the record is one hundred and five days. I said I was going to break records with this title, and this match is where I do that. I win, it's six straight successful defenses and with the time between this episode of Dissension and Homecoming, I will be sitting at one hundred and twelve days as champion."
Mason stops once again, stands up, walks off and is gone for about thirty seconds before he comes back with the Spotlight title over his shoulder.
"I fought tooth and nail to get this and I will fight tooth and nail to keep it. Believe me, I don't want to hurt my girlfriend in any way, and I really wish that I was facing someone else in this match, but it is what it is. Both of us knew that there was a chance this could happen, and both of us know that nothing that happens in this match is personal. I will say this now to all of you, because I've already told her this. I will do what I need to do in order to keep MY title and break those records. This is not that match I wanted, but it's the match I'm in and I will not lose."
Mason looks down at the Spotlight title and nods his head, then looks back up at the camera. He brings the Spotlight title in front of it and slowly pushes it towards the camera, then the scene goes to black.
