We open as Avery Miles III is sitting on the front porch of his Dry Branch, Georgia home. A balmy seventy degrees for the days leading to the holiday. For Avery, these days are both joyous and bittersweet. December 17th, 2015 was the date. The date that Avery’s life changed for the drastic. Finally finding his way in New Generation Wrestling, he lost himself. He lost the man that Zoe fell in love with. He lost not only his highschool sweetheart, but he lost himself that day. He was not the same man for some time. He had dived into drinking alcohol. He had found himself in a dark place in his life. He had to pull himself out of it. He had friends that were there for him. Some gone. Some still around. But he climbed slowly out of that place. He found himself again. And he found success. 2016 was a great year for Avery, but 2017 was a down year. Gone were some of the accolades of the previous year, but Avery looks ahead towards some positives in the new year. 2018 is going to bring some new things. New opportunities. New experiences. And a growing family. Avery and Serenity had found out that they were pregnant. Due in June, 2018 would be a banner year, even if he was not able to reclaim his glory inside of the ring. For Avery, family was everything. It means everything. He had a hopeful outlook to the future, and the growth of his family.
His cell phone rings. The number is an International number.
Avery: Hello? Alechs? Alechs, are you okay?
He pauses and listens.
Avery: Mexico? No way. Really? I used to wrestle there for some time-
He nods his head and listens more.
Avery: Yeah. We are good. Dude. Serenity and I.. are expecting!
He listens more.
Avery: Thanks, Alechs. Yeah? Honey? She seems to be doing well. I haven’t heard her say much about you, but-
He listens.
Avery: Oh. You have? Well. That is good. I am happy for you. Have you called you mom?
Avery pauses for a longer period of time, listening in.
Avery: Well make sure you. Uh huh. Allyce? Well that is good. I am happy for you- Uh huh. Okay. Keep in touch, brother. Please. We love you. And if we don’t talk, Merry Christmas Alechs.
Avery hangs the phone up. He looks at his phone unable to believe the ups and downs he was experiencing. Feeling a bit taken back, Serenity walks out of the house onto the porch. She sees him look upset, and before she can say one word, he looks up to her.
Avery: Alechs called.
The look on her face was one of both curiosity and worry.

Avery Miles III is sitting alone on his couch. The living room is lit only by candles. Christmas music plays lightly in the background. The tree is lit up, helping to illuminate the room some. He has a calm demeanor on his face. This time of year, there are a lot of emotions going on. Avery nods to himself and hits record, ready to say something finally about his match against Daisy Rose on Christmas Eve.
Avery: Christmas Eve. An interesting choice for Devlin to have us wrestling, no? Regardless, one of us will leave Dissension with a present. Another shot as Mason Moore and his title. This is a shot that we both want, badly. Both of us looking to get some revenge. I am not going to be someone that says that you do not deserve the shot, because I know that you do. I know that I do as well. Regardless of the outcome of the match, as long as it is fought fair and square then we are still good at the end of the day. I would not expect you to be someone to cheat your way in a match with me, either. And thank you for you and Coral at Warfare; though we did not win, we made an impact. This match is going to be a fun test of skills. With my wife being so close with you and your family, it only makes sense that the respect between us is shared. I know that we both are looking to prove things after leaving the company for some time and coming back; you for your family and me for my injury. Dissension is just a few days away but I am going to be well prepared for our battle. I’ve been wrestling long enough to know that you are far from someone to underestimate. I take this match seriously. I take becoming a number one contender seriously. And I take wrestling, seriously. Good luck, Daisy.

He smiles as the recording comes to an end. Avery puts his phone face down as he reaches forward and grabs a glass from the table. Next to it a bottle of Jack Daniels. He pours a little more into the glass as he pulls it to his nose, and just sniffs it. Avery looks at the liquor and swirls it in the glass. The song changes to “Blue Christmas” by Elvis Presley as Avery leans forward and places the glass back onto the coffee table. He reaches into his wallet and pulls out some pictures. A picture of him and Serenity getting married. They both were all smiles. The next picture he pulls out is backstage of a NGW show where Alechs and Avery were seen standing next to each other like they were brothers. And finally the third picture was one of Avery and Zoe from high school. Avery looks at the picture, and lets out a deep exhale. He starts to get choked up as he takes the three pictures and slide them back into his wallet. Avery sits there for a few moments as the song finally comes to an end. He leans forward and grabs the glass again, looking deeper at the glass.
