The sun has long since dipped down below the horizon, pulling behind it the midnight blue blanket of the night sky. Beneath the glow of the lights of the retired ocean liner-turned-hotel, an ice skating rink is set up in one section of the parking lot. As crowds of skaters make their way around the rink, one figure in particular seems to be skating at an enthusiastic pace toward the camera. With a smile on her face as bright as the lights illuminating the rink itself, WCG South Bay Champion Danni LeBlanc glides over to the edge of the rink, sliding right up to the wall as if she had been born with blades on her feet. She drapes her arms against the top of the wall and smiles as the other skaters whiz behind her.
Danni: Well, here we are, the night before the biggest day of my life...
She pauses, glancing at the massive kite-set princess cut diamond that graces her left ring finger with a dreamy look on her face.
Danni: Don’t mind me; I’m just a little excited that by the time I walk into Unscripted, I won’t be Danni LeBlanc anymore... I’ll be Mrs. Danielle Basch. You know, he’s right... that does sound a bit more dignified.
But I digress.
Rather than stand here and gush over my eagerness to enter into married life with the man that will soon become the WCG West Coast Champion, I do have some business to attend to, and that’s my upcoming tag team match. Tomorrow night, I’ll be teaming up with the Long Beach Champion Shawn Young, against Jack Santore and Adam Sanders.
She shakes her head.
Danni: You know, Jack... we REALLY need to stop meeting like this. I mean, this will be what, the third time you and I have stood on opposite sides of the ring? I don’t like facing off against my friends; you know this. But how many times can I say that it doesn’t matter who I face before I start to sound like a broken record? Bottom line, Jack. You already know what I bring to the table, and you also know that I’m more than capable of pulling new tricks from out of nowhere, so I’ll just leave it at that. Just bring the fight, and I’ll do the same.
Now, onto the other half of the opposing tandem....
She’s interrupted by the ringing of her cell phone. She looks at the screen, then turns it to the camera to show the display before answering the phone.
Aurora Graves.
Danni: Hey, lady!
The muffled voice of the former tag team champion can be heard over the phone as Danni listens.
Danni: Yeah, as a matter of fact, I am.
Another pause as Aurora’s muffled voice comes through. Suddenly, Danni’s eyes grow wide.
Danni: Well, how was I supposed to know that!?
She shrugs her shoulders.
Danni: Well, I’ll have to call you back. I’m kind of in the middle of something here. Later....
She hangs up the phone and stuffs it into her pocket. Looking into the camera, she flashes a sheepish smile.
Danni: Sorry about that. Anyway, where was I? Oh, yes! Adam Sanders....
This match marks the second time that you and I have stood on opposite sides of the ring, and I get the feeling it won’t be the last. And that’s fine. Like I said to Jack, the same goes for you. Just know that I’ll be coming into this match on one HELL of an emotional high, so you better believe I’ll be pumped as hell for this fight! After my last match, I’m not about to start married life off with an L. The South Bay Siren is coming, looking to make a splash at Unscripted. You’d better be careful, lest you find yourself caught in a Riptide!
She smirks, staring into the camera with a defiant look in her eyes.
Danni: Finally, to my tag team partner for the night, I think it’s interesting that they’re putting two champions up against contenders for our respective titles. Looks like the brass is testing us; what do you say we show them what happens when we’re tested?
She flashes a wink into the camera before pushing off of the wall and disappearing into the crowd of skaters.
