Ready For War
Date: December 7, 2017
GCW Global Champion Jazmyn Rain sits down in a quiet room, sorting through her mind. She’s definitely going to be in a heck of a mood considering that she recently beat Trixie to become the number one contender to the NGW Five Lakes Championship, but she can’t be in too much of a good mood with the awareness that beating Trixie was just another battle in the long war that she is fighting alongside the Guardians against the Destroyers. She’s also feeling a little frustrated and somewhat tense knowing that as usual, the Destroyers aren’t letting up anywhere. She knows that this is all a long, winding road but at the same time, she knows she has to do whatever she can to win this war. Taking a deep, relaxing breath, the number one contender to the Five Lakes Championship speaks her mind.
Jazmyn Rain: Resurgence wasn’t the greatest night in the world. In fact, I’d say it was an up and down roller coaster. Adrien wasn’t able to win the NGW title and Goldstein wasn’t able to beat Tillman to get the title back, unfortunately. But Jessica did win, I was able to defeat Trixie and of course, we can’t forget about what happened at the end of the show when it was revealed that two more Guardians, Joshua and Jessica, were added to the mix. Just when things seemed bleak, just when it all looked like we were down and out after Alechs Aurelio’s departure, we suddenly come right back. Sure, the Destroyers have most of the championships in NGW now and while that may not look good for the moment, I’ve been around this business long enough to know that things are always going to look up in the end. After all, when you consider the situation we all find ourselves in, there is no way to go but up right? Granted, it’s not going to seem so at first, especially with what’s coming up. With this HUGE Warfare match: this four on four on four on four elimination match, there’s a tall order up ahead for all of us.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I’d love to create a massive dent in the Destroyers and perhaps that could be feasible, but there’s one problem… or should I say two more problems? There are two other teams of four: The Midnight Horsemen and “Team AA”. You can never overlook the wild cards so for those of you that were expecting me to use this time to make it completely all about the Destroyers, sorry, that’s not going to be the case. I’m no idiot. I know what’s at stake. I know what we’re going up against. I learned my lesson a while back when it was just Adrien and I in a fatal four way tag team action against Avery Miles and Alex Jones, two members of the Destroyers and the Seventh Circle. I admit it, I was very narrow minded in the grand scheme of things. I gave it my best, Adrien gave it his best, but at the end of the day, I will admit that I overlooked the other two teams ever so slightly and next thing I know, it’s Avery and Alex walking out of St. Louis with the victory. Yes, I know that Adrien chose my safety over a potential victory, but I am not going to use that as an excuse. I’m definitely going to be focused on the other two teams also.
Jazmyn pauses, collecting herself as she gets that experience in St. Louis in that aforementioned fatal four way tag team match out of her head.
Jazmyn Rain: It’s BECAUSE of that very match that I am going to talk about Team AA first. They’re the wild cards and I am going to be straight up honest with everyone and this INCLUDES my three teammates: if we focus ONLY on the Destroyers, we are going to lose. Avery, Alex… as far as tag team action goes, this is round two with you. You managed to sneak one in St. Louis, but in Tampa, that’s not going to be the case. This time, you guys have Daisy, who I have heard some good things about and a mystery fourth member. It’s THAT mystery fourth member that makes your team the biggest wild cards of them all. I’m a competitor, naturally so don’t think I’ve forgotten about that match, Avery and Alex. That’s a match that I honestly believe Adrien and I could have had. Of course, the question needs to be asked. How feasible is your ability to be a team? On a great day, like that day in St. Louis, it’s VERY feasible. But on a bad day? Who really knows. Being the wild cards of the match has those advantages and those disadvantages and one of those disadvantages on your end is the competitive nature of the two of you. You two have been having matches with each other and against each other and I don’t think this “friendly rivalry” is going to end anytime soon nor do I think it’s going to be “friendly” for too much longer. THAT could very well be the downfall of your team no matter who that mystery 4th member is. All I know is, even with all of the uncertainty, it’s YOUR worry, not ours. I’m going to make sure that the competitor in me helps my team to victory and avoids a repeat of what happened back in St. Louis. You four aren’t sneaking up on ANYONE this time.
Still, I don’t think that Team AA is the oddest formation of the bunch and even if that 4th member isn’t someone that contradicts their values, that would still be the case. The team that I think is the oddest formation is the Midnight Horsemen. I am not selling short their talents, obviously. But look at their four members:
Billy Danielson… arrogant douchebag.
Mason Moore… NGW Spotlight Champion who CAN be an arrogant douchebag.
Scotty Latimer… arrogant douchebag especially over his girlfriend.
And Ruby Lance… Scotty’s aforementioned girlfriend who is a humble sweetheart.
One of these four is not like the others.
Jazmyn pauses and sighs, almost in a sympathetic fashion.
Jazmyn Rain: So how do I look at the Midnight Horsemen? I’ve heard some people I know call them “Destroyers lite” which I wouldn’t say that about them because that’s more of a compliment than an insult as far as their perspectives are concerned. But still, that chemistry… how can it be trusted? How is someone as humble as Ruby going to click with the obnoxiousness of the other three? At least Mason doesn’t let it all get to his head and seems like a decent guy every now and then, but the other two? Billy is not that different than Tillman from both a talent and a personality standpoint and having observed certain social media conversations, Scotty gets bent WAY out of shape when one negative iota is even said about his girlfriend. Then again, a lot of that comes from Julianna, but still. How is this team going to work? Their talent level, as I’ve stated already, is there. But what if Ruby gets fed up with the antics of any of the other three? What of Billy, for example, thinks that Ruby is holding the team back because she’s not like him? Maybe I’m overthinking it. I admit, I have a tendency to do that. But considering the personalities involved, I can’t say that it’s something that will work out in the long term. But of course, the worst thing anyone can do is sleep on them because you never know how things turn out in an unpredictable match like this. They could very well be that team that sneaks up on everyone and ultimately wins this. But believe me, I’m not going to let that happen as long as I have a say in it. Still, as concerned as I am about that team, they pale in comparison to the one team I haven’t talked about yet…
At this point, Jazmyn pauses and clenches her fists before she places them on her lap, unfurling them and clawing at the pants she is wearing, indicating the amount of anger she is about to feel when discussing the arch nemesis of the Guardians.
Jazmyn Rain: ...the Destroyers. I’ve been asking myself how to approach them going into this match. Everyone knows my rhetoric about them at this point. I’ve been in the ring with these bastards a couple of times and they’ve been mixed experiences. It wasn’t just that four way tag in St. Louis, it was my one on one match with Shields and that didn’t really turn out the way I wanted it to. Then of course, what Tillman did to me at Convergence is obviously something that sticks in my craw even a few months later. I haven’t had much experience with Kayla or Coda, but I can’t help but feel a little sorry for both of them. Kayla, I will give her some due, she is trying her hardest to be the very best champion that she could possibly be even if some of the circumstances aren’t exactly ideal, but everywhere she goes, HE goes. Everything SHE says, HE overshadows. It’s almost as if Matt doesn’t WANT her to have ALL the spotlight. And she just allows it? Coda on the other hand, she’s so enigmatic. I don’t really know WHAT to say about her. I don’t necessarily trust her, but I do get the sense that she’s got a moral code the others don’t. Still, by hook or by crook, she IS associated with them and she’s not going to be exempt from any wrath or vengeance coming their way. Have our experiences with them been great? Admittedly? No. But guess what? Sunday night in Tampa?
That changes!
We won’t win the entire war on Sunday, but I have every ounce of faith in the world that we’re going to win this key battle in it!
Jazmyn lets loose, taking a deep breath. She continues to ruminate about the battle ahead before she ultimately shuts off the camera for the time being.
