The picturesque scenery and seclusion of Mokuleia Beach, Oahu can be seen in the background as Ruby Lance sits in front of her laptop smiling all bright-eyed back into the webcam in her face. She cheeses big-time once it starts film and she waves happily to those choosing to tune in.
"Hello! It's me, Ruby! Coming to you live from Oahu, Hawaii! How beautiful is it here?"
She leans to the side and turns the laptop to give a wider shot of the beach in the distance. We can tell now that she's sitting inside something of a production tent that is shielding her from the blinding sunlight and the ocean breeze whipping up the shore. In the distance we can see a photoshoot going on.
"There's Scotty! Beautiful, right?"
Ruby giggles and turns the laptop back so that she's once again filming herself.
"So, anyway! I'm out here because Scotty has a photoshoot for Coulter Wear. Big thanks to Coulter Wear for letting me tag along! Love them!"
More giggles from Ruby as she's just having a blast out in Hawaii. Who wouldn't enjoy an all-expense paid vacation to Hawaii? Come on.
"I figure that while he's busy doing his work stuff that I'd hop on here and take some questions from the NGW fans about the upcoming Warfare event. Or just questions in general. You know, whatever people want to ask. I mean, not whatever. There are obviously questions I will respectfully decline to answer."
Ruby cringes at that revelation, almost looking guilty over refusing to answer some questions. I guess only Ruby would feel obligated to answer even the most ridiculous stuff her fans might choose to ask her.
"Let's see what we got here… oh! How does it feel to be part of your very first main-event match in NGW? Great question! It's kind of surreal. I mean, technically if you want to dots all the I's and cross all the T's… this isn't really my main-event. You know, I wasn't really chosen by the company to be in it. They allowed me to be and that's fantastic! Either way, I'm thrilled to be feature in such a huge match on a huge show for NGW."
She shrugs her shoulders at her answer, sort of an "that's all I have to say about that" as she grins into the camera.
"Let's find another… Why are you a part of the Midnight Horsemen for War Games when you keep saying that you aren't part of the group? Oh wow. I'm actually really glad to get his question."
There's a laugh that accompanies that, but it's obvious that Ruby's mood takes a slight hit at this subject being brought up. She takes a deep breath and mentally prepares herself to sort this out.
"Here's the thing. I am not a part of the Midnight Horsemen, obviously. I know it's tough to tell sometimes, but it's just a weird situation. Everyone knows that I'm dating Scotty and he's a very prominent figure within the group. He's the Seattle Pro Pride Champion. Mason Moore and I have been friends for a long time now. He's always been supportive of my career. Billy's probably the one in this match that I know the least, but he's always been nice enough to me. No reason for me to dislike him. I know not everyone shares this outlook on them, but none of them have given me a reason to dislike them. So, when they got pulled into this situation and needed a fourth partner, I wasn't going to leave them hanging. I couldn't do that. So, yes. That is why I am a part of their team this Sunday, but I am not a member of the group."
Ruby lets out a breath, a weight being lifted off her shoulders as she finally gets to say all of that. Once again, her mood brightens back up like the Hawaiian sun.
"That aside… next question, please."
Giggling a little at herself, Ruby scans the questions that are showing up on her screen until she finds one that she's excited to answer.
"Guardians or Destroys? Which side do you fall on if push comes to shove? Well! That's a good question. I mean, obviously I'm going to answer the Guardians. Adrien and Jessica are two people that I've had friendly interactions with. They're really nice people. Jazmyn gave me my first match here in NGW and even though I lost it was a great match and I have a lot of respect for the way she approached me with that. I don't really know Joshua beyond just watching him on the shows, but if Adrien, Jessica, and Jazmyn trust him then I can't imagine he's a bad person at all."
A little cringe and a shrug seems to carry a wealth of apologies. It's her "I'm sorry" to the Destroyers for not picking them and especially to Joshua if he feels at all disrespected that she hasn't made an effort to get to know him yet. She hasn't been on the roster long, you know!
"That said! I do have respect for all the champions that are representing NGW. Maybe that's not ideal for some people. I know that there's a lot to be said about respecting the championship but not the person holding it because of how they got it or choose to keep it, but you know, it's just not for me to tell anyone how to succeed in this business. I may not agree with certain actions, but at the end of the day I only have to look at myself in the mirror. I encourage everyone to be themselves and the only time I have a problem is if you have a problem with me, or the people I hold dearest to me. So, I do hold some level of respect for the Destroyers, even if I would never chose to handle business the way they do. I mean, I guess you could say I look at them sort of how I look at the Horsemen. Granted, I'm actually friends with the Horsemen."
She shrugs her shoulders again, finding herself rambling a bit too much as this topic starts to drag on. She takes a deep breath and shakes her head.
"Before I get any more questions, I do feel that I need to weigh on the last team involved here. I'm sure there's tons of questions about them, but just because I've already covered everyone else, I don't want anyone feeling like I'm ignoring them. So, I see you Team AA. Unfortunately, this is the team I know the least about. I mean no disrespect with that. It's just that outside of taking part in Avery's charity event - which Austen more so got me involved with that after he and Mercedes got into it - but outside of that I've had zero contact with these so it's more what I've seen rather than what I know about them. I know the three announced are incredible athletes and have great careers already, with lots more to come. So, it's threats all around in this match, to be honest. Even if one of them just thinks I'm a silly girl."
Alex Jones' words definitely seem to have struck Ruby a little deeper than she cares. She takes a deep breath and rolls her eyes as she shakes her head.
"Anyway! Let's find a fun question!"
Her eyes scan the screen to quickly read through the questions that have been presented to her.
"Dream matches against anyone in wrestling, who and why? Oh. Honestly, I've always wanted to get in the ring with Julliet Brooks. We talked a while back about teaming up together and that would have been really fun, but unfortunately my schedule got super hectic so it never really panned out. She's always been a great supporter of me and she has no reason to be, so that's always been really great for me. I've looked up to her for a lot of reasons - some professional and some personal - but, yeah. She's definitely someone that's a dream for me to get into the ring with. Maybe it'll happen one day."
Ruby is all smiles as she shrugs her shoulders at the possibilities. Her eyes are back to scanning the screen for the next fun question.
"Do you have any outside projects that you might be interested in doing if wrestling doesn’t work out? That's an interesting question because, honestly, I don't."
She cringes at her own answer, as if she's hurting anyone but herself by not having a back-up plan in this crazy wrestling dream.
"I mean, I probably should. I definitely should, but I don't. I've always just been driven towards this dream, this goal. I've sort of put everything into it and I guess there are negatives and positives to that. The positives are that it gets 100% of my attention. The negatives are that if I fail at it…"
There's a noticeable pause when she mentions failing at it. Her mood has soured considerably at this point and she glances off in the direction of Scotty thriving at his second career path.
"I mean, where do I go from here? If I can't make a living doing this than..."
She takes in, and then releases, a huge breath before forcing a big smile on her face.
"I think that's a good place to end things."
I don't think that good is the right word and Ruby even realizes that a second later. She just grins and shakes it off as best she can.
"I think I covered everything. My feelings towards the various teams in this match, my status as far as being in this match is concerned, and we had a little fun, right? I think so. So yeah! Thanks for the questions and hopefully I can answer more for you soon. Love you all."
Ruby tilts her head to the side, smiles huge, and winks into the camera before bringing the feed to an abrupt end.
