Luck loves me not tonight, I'm running out...
This four leaf clover's all but useless now.
I've got four wheels that say I'm not alone tonight,
I'm always looking for a joy ride through the
Brightest part of this town.
Break out, break out,
As we escape through the windows,
Head for the car, and never look back, singing-singing,
"Break out, break out,
Our time has come and we've got these big city dreams."
The camera begins rolling. Just as it always does with these sort of videos though, right? And as always, Adam Sanders can be seen, standing outdoors in southern California. He avoids looking at the camera, his recently cut hair flowing gently in the wind along with the long sleeve UCSD t-shirt covering his torso. His brown eyes make brief contact with the camera before what one would think was just him looking away. But in fact, he was looking at the man who was stepping into the frame.
“Well, Melina Garrison, greetings and salutations.”
Everyone is used to the man stepping in and speaking on behalf of Adam Sanders being his manager, Eddie Walker. But there was no spiked brown hair visible when that voice begins speaking to the camera. If you were someone who only paid attention to West Coast Genesis, you might not recognize the voice or the face that was now staring into the camera. But if you caught just one episode of New Generation Wrestling, you immediately know who this was. The blonde hair was unmistakable. The piercing blue eyes are the same ones that look into the camera countless times on the parent company of West Coast Genesis. The #Believe shirt should have taken any and all mystery out of the equation.
“It is always a dilemma for our mutual employee whenever he is put in a situation where two or more of his employers are matched up against one another. I mean, I heard he had a hand in making this booking because he believed it was beneficial for everyone involved, but it also puts him in an awkward position...no pun intended.”
A glance back at Adam Sanders, still standing a foot or two behind him, followed by a smile. Adam is at least looking at the camera now.
“So while Eddie Walker is unable to do what he normally does for Adam here because he wants to make sure he keeps conflicts of interest and maintain an unbiased stance when it comes to two of his clients, it put Adam in a situation that was a bit disadvantageous for him. He still hasn’t gotten to a point where he feels comfortable cutting his own promos quite yet. It’s not Eddie’s fault nor am I blaming him for this, but it is what it is. And we’re going to make the best of the situation by making one alteration to the normal routine leading up to one of the biggest opponents Adam Sanders has had in his young career.
“And that change is me.”
Another grin widens across the face of the Dropkick King himself, Adrien Cochrane.
“And while Eddie Walker might have ties to you, Melina Garrison, I do not. We are cordial to one another on social media. I’m probably not on your Christmas card list, and if I am, I would question how I ended up on there. That being said, my intent is not to insult, belittle, or undersell your abilities, Melina. You are one of the biggest matches Adam Sanders has ever faced. I would never dare insult the woman who has taken down Julianna DiMaria. You might make my Christmas card list on that feat alone. But this young man standing right here…”
Cochrane puts an arm around Adam Sanders and pulls him a little closer to the camera. Sanders takes a deep breath as he does.
“...is someone that I’ve taken a personal interest in since he and his ex-girlfriend, Kenzie Rydell, approached me, wanting to learn how to be a wrestler and a competitor from me. And over the course of the past two years, I’ve watched some ups and downs, but he has grown, not just as a fighter, but as a man. He’s faced obstacles, hardships, and disappointments. He’s fought through trials and tribulations, and he’s come out the other side, still fighting to get to the next level. He may not have championships or the best winning record...neither did I when I was at this stage of my career...but regardless, I’m proud of him for persevering.
“And when you have someone who keeps fighting and fighting, never giving up, and never surrendering, things happen. If that keeps happening, if the wheels keep turning, eventually there is going to be a point where the vehicle gets moving. The momentum will start to form and push things forward. That breakout match from Adam could happen at any moment now, just like it did for me when I capture the PCW Platinum Championship. And if you think that just because you’re the one who beat the champion of West Coast Genesis and Adam is on a bit of a losing stretch does not mean he should be underestimated. While I think you are a very talented individual, Melina, I believe in Adam. I believe in Adam like I believe in the other four Guardians. He’s capable of pulling off an upset. He’s capable of putting things together and finally clicking in this very match against you, Melina. You could be the one that turns the tide for Adam’s career, and not in a good way.
“I’m not saying be afraid of Adam. I’m not saying he’s going to dominate you or embarrass you. I simply state that Adam Sanders should not be underestimated by any means. I feel like he’s on the verge of making a real name for himself, and the first person who doesn’t take him seriously will probably be the one that will catapult him to those heights.”
Cochrane points to the sky as he speaks of the heights he believes Adam can reach through hard work and perseverance. Adam’s eyes dart in that direction as well.
“Adam is a future champion. I don’t know when, what championship, or even what company, but I have faith that this young man is part of the future of wrestling. And I think he’s going to make a huge splash in West Coast Genesis. And if you slip up, Melina, you could very well be the swimming pool he makes that splash in.”
Put up or shut up, we're not wasting time again,
The credits are rolling and we're getting lost again,
In parking lots, to serenading sirens,
As the blue lights bathed our smiles...
Let's take a moment to reflect,
On the past few years of my life,
I haven't worked myself away,
To stay inside.
This is the time to let us...
Break out, break out,
As we escape through the windows,
Head for the car, and never look back, singing-singing,
"Break out, break out,
Our time has come and we've got these big city dreams."
