"Josh Kennedy deserves this match."
The soft-spoken words coming from the woman known as Coda are powerful and concise as the video begins to play on the monitor in front of you wearing a long-sleeved Moore Power t-shirt.
"Many within NGW believe it advantageous to goad others into matches for their respective championships without the worthy credentials which would undoubtedly lead them towards failure. These people with frail bodies and even frailer willpower speak loud in favor of fighting louder to earn the chance as others have done before them. Petulance is expected to gain you opportunities in wrestling today but I do not feel these people worthy of attaining what I proudly carry on my shoulder."
Over her shoulder is the NGW Young Lions Championship in all its pristine beauty. The fluorescent lights of the kitchen shine elegantly against the metal as she sits in a chair with her arms clasped on the table in front of her.
"Josh Kennedy did no such thing in order to retrieve his championship opportunity. He earned it on October 1st, 2017, defeating four other unworthy competitors including Scotty Latimer, Johnathan Drake, Sapphire, and Alechs Aurelio. The opinions I have for these individual competitors means nothing when it is Josh Kennedy who was the winner. Should the other competitors wish to deem themselves worthy, it is clear to me that they should have won this match."
Coda slouches her head down and pauses for a few seconds.
"I have the utmost respect for Alechs Aurelio and considering it is Thanksgiving, I will say this — I am thankful to have had him as a friend for the brief period of time we have shared. I do not know what is next for him but I would like to wish him well."
The Destroyer's eyes shift upwards in a fearsome glare with her head still tilted down.
"Scotty Latimer & Johnathan Drake have failed to impress thus far in NGW. Sapphire is gone. These individuals have proven their uselessness with NGW while Josh Kennedy has proven to be a man who has changed his fate overnight. He has become a modest challenger, a man who once stood on the outskirts of this company under a suspension and now... He has made the most of his time in NGW."
Coda's intimidating air never went away as she raised her eyebrows slightly.
"The others cannot make such a claim."
Reaching to grab her arm, Coda fixed the wrinkles in the Mason Moore shirt she was wearing to show her support for the man she respected and another man who would defend his championship in a few short days as well.
"In the entire history of NGW and Redemption Wrestling — this includes NGW's initial run as well as all its previous forms — I am currently the second longest reigning champion at 158 days. This includes IPW. and Alpha Rising. This includes West Coast Genesis. This is a longer reign than Yujiro Fujiwara's 105-day reign as NGW Champion. This is a longer reign than the Hall Of Famer Carmine Reaper's 70-day reign as NGW Heavyweight Champion. This is a longer reign than Gavin Grimes' 142-day reign and Dead Eye's 28-day reign as NGW Unified Champions."
"My reign as NGW Young Lions Champion is fastly approaching Matthew Shields' unprecedented 252-day reign as Redemption Heavyweight Champion and when I become the longest reigning champion in all of Devlin Scott's ventures... There will be no doubt that I am the most superior competitor who ever stood in a ring while Mr. Scott claimed a nearby room as his office."
"Let it be known as well that I have successfully defended the NGW Young Lions Championship three times thus far. Should I have dispatched of Josh Kennedy in my upcoming defense as well, I will have defended it four times. Should I defend the NGW Young Lions Championship successfully two more times, I would have broken the record for the number of times successfully defended in a Devlin Scott company as well."
Coda's words are proud and sincere, and while the words might seem braggadocious in their nature, the delivery comes across as if Coda is reading an encyclopedia of facts.
"I speak of these things because I wish to impress on you the fact that I have made the most out of the short time I have spent within NGW. I have felt the sting of failures, yes. I am not undefeated. However, I believe these accomplishments speak for themselves. I believe those worthy in this federation will soon capture their own success and I believe those deemed unworthy will flail wildly and challenge those worthy individuals in an attempt to prove themselves useful. I will continually accept these challenges. Should these people be as unworthy as I believe, it will simply add to my reign and my career as a whole when I beat them convincingly. Should these people prove to be good competitors, this will please me more and I will grow stronger for it."
Coda's eyes softened as she sat back in her chair.
"I believe Josh Kennedy worthy."
"I believe him to be a competitor who could prove rather difficult to dispatch. He has not been doing well in NGW, yes. However, I see promise within him. I see him accomplishing great things elsewhere, winning an 81-man gauntlet match in CWC to become the number one contender for the CWC World Championship for example. While this has no barring in NGW, I acknowledge it. I choose to be aware of these actions since Josh Kennedy has refused to use this claim within NGW in an attempt to make him seem more relevant here as others would. He has not pushed his accomplishments elsewhere in our face in order to gain credibility but he has kept quiet on such matters within the context of NGW. This is admirable."
"I believe I will sleep well after our contest and this is a compliment. I wish to see how I will fare against him as I cannot safely claim I will defeat him. I cannot predict the future, however, I do know one thing:".
Coda leans forward towards you as those black eyes of hers grow intense once again.
"I am the NGW Young Lions Champion..."
"Now... Let us see... Will Josh Kennedy measure up and claim the championship as his own? Is anyone in NGW worthy enough to defeat me and capture this prize?"
"Please attempt to do so. I am beginning to grow tired of waiting for a true challenge."
"I do not wish to be the NGW Young Lions Champion forever."
"I simply wish to be the NGW Young Lions Champion until I break all the records available."
