Denny’s
Torrance, CA
Thursday, November 16, 2017
Beneath the familiar red lettering of the restaurant’s logo, Danni LeBlanc sits on one of the benches outside of the front entrance, her back resting against the grey metal as she gazes up at the night sky. She’s changed out of the red elf outfit, in favor of a much more practical pair of jeans, paired with an off-white sweater and matching leather boots. The South Bay Championship belt lays draped across her lap, with her hand resting on the center plate. It’s well past 10 pm, and most of the surrounding businesses are closed, allowing the newly-crowned champion to enjoy the peace of the night, with the only noise coming from the traffic along Hawthorne Boulevard.
Danni: Well, here we are...
Danni picks her head up, smiling as she turns to look at the camera.
Danni: We’re inching ever closer to my first match since I became the South Bay Champion. And I’ll be damned if I start off my reign on a sour note! This may be non-title, but if I’m to set any sort of example as a champion, I have to treat it as if my opponent is after EVERYTHING I’ve worked my ass off to achieve.
Karari, I admittedly don’t know that much about you, aside from the fact that you once dated Mason Moore. How that ended is really none of my business, nor is it even relevant to this match. This is just me, stepping into the ring with another competitor, doing my best to show the fans just what kind of champion I can be.
Danni stands up, draping her championship belt over her shoulder as she shoots a determined stare into the camera.
Danni: I know you’re looking ahead to your match with Julianna DiMaria, and while I sincerely wish you luck in that match, if you think you’re going to use this match as a means of sending a message to her, then I’m afraid you’re in for some disappointment. I’m not here to be your message board.
I may tweet a lot about having a good time, planning my wedding and all that other fun shit, but don’t make the mistake of thinking that I’m just coasting along from one match to the next. I just don’t feel the need to tweet about every second I spend in the gym. You’ve no doubt heard the expression “work hard in silence, let success be your noise.” Well, once Unscripted rolls around, I’m looking to start busting some serious eardrums. I’m looking to show the fans of West Coast Genesis that it’s not the belt that makes you a champion, it’s what you do with that belt that matters!
The doors to Denny’s swing open, and Danni’s fiancé Donovan Basch steps out, slipping his wallet into his pocket. He too has changed out if his Santa suit and into his more familiar black slacks and a black shirt under a black leather jacket. Once he spots Danni, he smiles.
Donovan: Are you ready to go?
Danni nods her head, smiling as she moves beside him.
Danni: You know it. The next few days are gonna be pretty busy, so the sooner we get home, the better. By the way, I can’t tell you how glad I am that we were able to find a Santa suit that fit you....
Donovan leans in to whisper into her ear, prompting her to squeal in delight. The two of them then head toward the parking lot, but after a few steps, Danni stops just long enough to look over her shoulder.
Danni: See you at Unscripted, Karari....
With that, Danni and Donovan walk off, disappearing into the night.
