Scene opens near the entrance to the Pelican Pier Pavilion. Here, we find West Coast Genesis competitor Donovan Basch leaning up against a railing, looking out over the water.
Donovan: To be completely honest, Mrs Garrison, this match would best be described as “bittersweet”. I can take pride in the fact that our match the penultimate contest at Unscripted, second only to the main event, even as our “esteemed” West Coast Champion is fuming at opening the show. But a small part of me is disappointed that as of yet, there has STILL been no formal announcement as to when I am to receive my rightly earned title opportunity.
Be that as it may, I AM looking forward to facing you. With my business obligations and preparations for my wedding day, it's been necessary to keep my interactions with people via social media to a minimum. Unfortunately, that contributes to an “out of sight, out of mind” mentality. Julianna DiMaria and yourself have been having quite a lively series of exchanges via Twitter and whatnot. Kudos to you for your attempts to bring her back down to earth, but don't forget about me, Melina.
At Unscripted, I have little doubt that you will once again try to establish your dominance as the “Elite Female” of West Coast Genesis. On the flip side of that coin, I am going to show you and the rest of the world exactly why I am ready to ascend to the top of this company.
I'm not disparaging your talent in the slightest, Melina. Quite the contrary; I recognize that you are one of the best competitors here. But I've been denied for too long. I realize that building anticipation for a match is one thing, but it's another thing to have something I've worked so hard for to remain just outside my grasp. It's frustrating, to put it mildly, and I'm going to use our match to vent a bit of it. The longer DiMaria stalls, the worse it'll be once she can no longer avoid me. In the meantime, you're the one that has to bear the brunt of it. Don’t expect me to pull any punches, because frankly, it’s been awhile since I could cut loose and I know that you’re capable of holding up without wilting like a lily.
As he pauses, Donovan’s fiancee, WCG South Bay Champion Danni LeBlanc walks into frame.
Danni: Miss me, Spidey?
Donovan: You weren’t gone that long, Nixy. But yes, I missed you….
Danni: Good answer. Ready?
Donovan: Of course…
Donovan holds out his arm for Danni to take hold of. Before they depart, Donovan looks back at the camera.
Donovan: I’m about to enjoy a couple hours of fun with my lovely wife-to-be…
Donovan points off into the distance. The camera pans around to where he’s pointing at: The Long Beach Convention Center, site of the next episode of West Coast Genesis’ Unscripted.
Donovan: ...and later on, I’ll have a different kind of fun. Too bad it won’t last as long…
And with that, the couple enter the Pavilion.
Fade to black.
