Arawan Thai Bistro, Las Vegas, NV
“I’m hoping you like this place. I found it a few years ago, and it is one of my favorite places in the city.”
Mason Moore looked over and smiled at his new friend, Maria Valadez. After a nice productive workout, they had decided to grab a bite to eat and luckily Mason knew a place very close. The Las Vegas weather was actually nice and not to humid so they took a short walk to his favorite Thai restaurant. Mason opened the door for her, his black polo shirt tight around his arms as he did his best to be a gentleman.
“I hope I will, I enjoy the food, so I should. I’m just glad we can get a chance to talk outside of the gym as well.”
She smiles at him, as she steps inside of the place. She was wearing a simple black dress, but it did show off her curves. She glances back at him.
“How often do you come here since it is your favorite?”
“I come in once or twice a week. It’s good, close to the gym, and they have this one tea that nobody else can recreate.”
The smile on Mason’s face seems permanent as he looks over at maria, noticing the way the dress hugs her curves. A very petite Asian woman greets them, knowing Mason by name. She leads them back towards a table and Mason lets Maria go first. Partly to be a gentleman, but partly because he really enjoys how she looks in her dress.
“I’m glad we’re doing this too. The workouts have been great, but I definitely want to know more about Maria Tabitha Valadez.”
Mason gives her a wink, showing he pays attention and knows her full name.
“You paid attention when I mentioned my name. Not many guys do that. Really showing you are different. I like that.”
She was impressed, more so in the past other guys would be trying to get her in bed already.
“I am an open book, so willing to tell you anything you would like to know. No reason to hide anything. I am sure you are the same right?”
“Pretty much. There might be one or two things I don’t like talking about, but that’s less about hiding things and more brings up some bad memories.”
The smile slightly fades now, and he quickly takes a sip of water to avoid showing too much emotion.
“I guess we can start pretty easy. What’s the family like? Parents, brothers, sisters, any crazy uncles that are gonna cut me if I don’t treat you right?”
She shakes her head lightly.
“No crazy uncles, my Dad is pretty down to earth. He only wants whoever I end up with to take care of me, and make me happy. He has never threatened anyone. I have a brother, but he lives in Mexico, so I hardly see him, along with my Mom. I haven’t even seen them since I was nine years old.”
She looks towards him, as she was trying to show she was fine with it, but she did get a tad bit upset.
“What about you? Any family members I should worry about?”
Mason noticed the look on her face, even if she tried to hide it. He just put his hand on hers.
“No, my family is a bit crazy, but the fun kind of crazy. Worst that would happen is my Mom wanting to know how serious things are. She’s great, but she can be a little pushy whenever I introduce them to someone. Especially a beautiful woman.”
Mason smiles over at Maria as their waitress comes around real quick. He orders himself his favorite Glorious Paradise Tea.
“Do you like spicy stuff and fish? There’s this appetizer they have that’s awesome, but it’s tuna and it’s got some spice.”
She would order a Black Forest tea, as she looks over at him. She was touched he put his hand on hers, as she was sure he noticed.
“I do like both. I have mexican in my blood, spicy food is perfect for us.”
She laughs lightly.
“I can handle pushy, least shows they care about you, and want you to be happy. If I ever meet her, I would answer truthfully. Like right now, work out partners, and getting to know each other.”
Mason nods his head and places the order for the appetizer, but his eyes are locked on Maria. That gets a slight laugh from the waitress who clearly knows Mason well.
“I can say that you are one of the best workout partners I have ever had and getting to know you is fantastic.”
Mason notices that his hand is still on hers, but she hasn’t moved it away and he decides to leave it there.
“So, always lived in Vegas or transplant that just couldn’t get enough of sand and hundred and seventeen degree summer days?”
“I can honestly say I have never had a partner like you before. Most have been girls, or the strict gym owners, and trainers who would scream if did something wrong.”
She looked him in his eyes, as she had heard the slight laugh from the waitress. She shakes her head lightly.
“I lived here off, and on since I was nine. My Dad kept being transferred to Los Angeles, and back here. I never understood why, never asked. He kept his job a secret for the most part from me. All I knew was he worked with the police.”
“That had to be a little weird. You say bye to friends, go make new ones, then have to say bye to them, come back and hope your old friends are still around. I guess I was pretty lucky, always lived right here in Vegas.”
Mason motions out the window of the restaurant, towards the strip that will be lit up like Christmas in a few short hours.
“So the wrestling, always wanted to do it or is it a fairly new passion?”
“It was weird, and I did lose some friends, but I looked at it as if they didn’t stay friends, they weren’t friends in the first place. I tried to be more mature as a kid I guess you could say.”
She looks out towards the strip as well, before looking back at him.
“I would've like to stay in Vegas when I was a kid, but nobody to live with. Now nothing will stop me. The wrestling was something I enjoyed growing up. When we lived in Los Angeles, my Dad would take me to shows all the time. I did get where we stopped going for a while, but I knew when I got older I wanted to try.”
“My story isn’t nearly as good as that. I didn’t really watch it growing up. I was athletic and everything, played some baseball and basketball as a kid and did football, but it wasn’t really my thing. I got more into the fitness and bodybuilding stuff, and almost went the pro route on that. I was seeing this woman at the time and she was working as a valet for her brother, so I went to the show and just got hooked.”
Their teas and appetizer comes, and Mason thanks the waitress in Thai.
“Don’t be to impressed with that. It’s literally the only words I know in Thai.”
Mason laughs a little as he takes a bite of the appetizer.
“So no crazy relatives to worry about, what about exes?”
“Now I see why you didn't mind helping out Mayhem team. You seem be doing a great job with those girls.”
She was a little impressed with him knowing even just a few words. She against shakes her head at him.
“No crazy exes. Most of my exes are all married, or in serious relationships. I don’t even really talk to most anymore even. Have no real desire to. They are all exes for a reason as they say.”
She looks outside again, before back at him.
“What about you? I know we kind of talked on this before on twitter, but just trying figure out how you are single.”
Mason takes a deep breath and looks down at the table for a few seconds.
“Well, some relationships have ended because of me. I can get a little wrapped up sometimes with the gym and things like that. The last one, I still wish I could figure out exactly what went wrong there. Maybe we just weren’t right for each other.”
Mason takes a sip of his tea, as he’s clearly trying to think of a subject change.
“Thanks for the compliment on the Mayhem ladies. I’ve done some personal training stuff before, but nothing quite like that. A little weird to have my sister there to, but I think that might have helped the rest feel more comfortable.”
Mason looks over at Maria, hoping the subject change has worked.
“A subject best not talked about.”
She could tell he wanted to change the subject, as she smiles at him. She was attracted to him, had been since the first day they met, but didn’t know how to tell him. She lightly laughs.
“I bet it is weird given it’s lingerie football. I think they are comfortable with you, because you are different than how you look. You look like you could rip off someone’s head, but once get talking, and being around you, you can see you are a big teddy bear as well.”
She thought of something, as she keeps looking at him.
“Does that mean you help your fellow Horsemen stablemate Coral out a lot since you must see her a lot more? She is with the team coach right.”
“She is. She doesn’t have a lot to do with the team, but it is always nice when she’s around. We get to hang out, we’ve worked out together before. She’s probably the Horsemen I’m second closest to. Scotty and me were friends before, he’s dating one of my friends.”
Mason takes another sip of his tea as he notices his hand is still on hers.
“Don’t go spreading that whole teddy bear thing around that. I do have a reputation to maintain. Don’t need my opponents thinking I’ve gone soft or anything. Plus, it’s very easy to be nice to a nice, sweet, beautiful woman like you.”
“Now you’re facing her sister. I think I might be glad my brother isn’t around, so I don’t have to worry about a sibling being in the same career as I am. I think I have seen Scotty, and Ruby I think it is. They seem to have fun.”
She wasn’t going to move her hand, or ask him to move his. Maria was enjoying the feeling of his hand on hers. It felt right in a way.
“I won’t tell others. That would be a shame if they thought you went soft. I heard a lot of guys do when they get with a girl, or are just hanging out with one. I wouldn’t want a guy to change who he is just for me. I accept them for who they are. I am nice, and sweet, I try to be, but it is easy when you been nothing but nice towards me.”
“Well, you’ve made that very easy for me.”
Mason smiled over at her, as he was struggling to not just go over and kiss her. He wasn’t quite sure he was ready to move on yet though, and definitely didn’t want to upset her.
“It is a little weird to be facing her sister. Especially considering it’s not like we’re just regular opponents or anything. This has been a bit of a grudge since the day I got signed on. I don’t think I said or did anything to her before she just started hating me.”
Mason shakes his head as he sighs slightly.
“Hopefully I can put an end to all of that very soon though. Definitely gonna have to go a bit extra on it since I know you’ll be there watching.”
“That is weird someone would do that. I guess some people are just crazy. I would think she would get rid of this grudge since you are friends with her sister, but I guess some just rather the hate.”
She shrugs her shoulders, before smiling softly. She would want him to only make a move when he knew he was ready, not before then.
“I’m just happy you want me to be there. It sounds like it will be a fun time, more so all the title matches, the amazing talent. Just be your normal self in the ring, don’t need to go a bit extra just because I am there”
“Of course I want you there. It’s always nice to know that you have friends out there cheering you on. Plus, I can’t think of anyone else I would like to celebrate a win with afterwards.”
Mason gives her a wink as the waitress comes around to take their orders.
“”Really, that makes me feel so good really. You don’t know how much that means to me. Even though how do you celebrate a win like that?”
She was curious as she looked at him.
“That's a good question. I guess the easiest is a big bottle of champagne and a bunch of rowdy Mason Moore fans.”
Mason smirks slightly as he takes another sip of his tea.
“Maybe we can think of something better though. Maybe a more private celebration. Just me, you, the other Horsemen, and a few bottles of champagne.”
“Rowdy fans, do they try stop you, and strip your clothes off?”
She couldn’t help but to ask. She thought of something when he mentioned the other Horsemen.
“The other Horsemen would be good, more so if Coral comes, doesn’t she have her big title match the night before too?”
She had been trying to keep up what some of his close friends were doing in case she needed to know.
“She does, so hopefully it will be a celebration for all the Horsemen. As for the fans, I only had one try and rip my clothes off.”
He laughs a little bit as he might be joking.
“I hope you are joking, but I have heard some fans can be crazy. Heard of one even attacking a wrestler’s girlfriend.”
Maria looks over at him, as she smiles.
“Least I can handle myself if any tried.”
“I wish I was joking, but it did happen. Most of the time, the fans are good though. I have no doubt you could handle yourself.”
Mason smirks and gives her a wink.
“In more than one way I can. You least have worked out with me to know what I can handle that way. You might find out one day in other ways, never know.”
She was trying to be optimistic, but not push anything more.
“Well, that sounds like it could be fun.”
Mason winks at her as their food arrives, but doesn't want to get to forward.
“I definitely know you could handle anyone trying to attack you. They would have to get through me first though.”
“I think it could be fun, or it will be fun if it happens.”
She looks at the food, before back at him.
“Aww you would protect me. No wonder I think you are sweet, and a teddy bear.”
Maria smiles, as she goes to try her food. Mason gives her a slight shrug before he takes a bite of his food.
“Normally I would be upset at getting called a teddy bear, but there’s something about the way you say it.”
She eats the bite of food in her mouth, before she speaks, as she liked him say that.
“This food is good. I just might call you it more in private. Least when people can’t hear it. I wouldn’t want to ruin your reputation by saying it in front of others.”
“I would definitely like that, and I appreciate you keeping it to yourself.”
He smirked and gave her a wink before getting another bite.
“Least I can do. It should show you that I value our friendship.”
She continues to eat, as she is smiling at him.
“It definitely does, and I definitely value it as well.”
He smiles back at her as they enjoy their meal.
