*****OFF CAMERA*****
Officer Barnes barges his way in to the house of Matthew Shields, as his partner Officer Burns follows behind him. Barnes stops in what looks like the living room and looks down at a circular saw.
"What the fuck are you doing with this?"
"Same thing I'm doing with the nail gun, boxes of tile and boxes of flooring. It's called repairs."
"Repairs huh, is that why there's blood on the edge of it."
Barnes pulls his gun and points it right at Matt.
"Down on the fucking floor dirt bag."
"That's mine."
Officer Burns comes up and pushes Barne's gun down.
"Whoa whoa whoa. It's your blood on the saw?"
"Yes, I was putting the blade in, cut my finger."
Matt holds up his left ring finger and shows the bandage, the peels it off to show the small scar.
"You probably did that to cover shit up. Look at this fucking guy, Burns."
"Hey, we're not gonna have a repeat of your bullshit with Tyreke. Almost lost your damn job because of that."
Matt just stands there looking at him.
"I still think he's hiding something."
Barnes continues looking around the place and stops as he looks out at the back yard.
"That's a pretty big fucking hole out there. What the hell is it for?
"A pool. They wanted too damn much to dig it, so I took care of it myself."
Burns goes over and look in the back yard.
"Damn, how long that take you?"
"I was out there for five days, and I dug almost all day."
"That's some shitty work. I probably would have let them dig it."
"Are you really buying this shit Burns? He probably has bodies in there and is using that as a cover up."
"Just shut the hell up Barnes. The tip was obviously bullshit and you gotta stop judging everyone by how they look. Remember when you thought Ramirez was gay?"
Barnes lowers his head and just sighs as he walks out of the house.
"Sorry about wasting your time, and sorry about my partner."
"Yea."
Matt just rolls his eyes and goes to the door as officer Burns walks out. He closes it behind him and shakes his head before he starts walking towards the back of the house.
"Fucking asshole."
Matt goes to the bedroom, but turns and opens up a small room. He flips on a light and there laying on a small cot is an older Asian man.
"Alright, the transport is gonna be a few hours late. Don't want those cops watching things. Tell Kunzai that this is gonna be the last for a little bit, or next time the price is gonna be ten thousand more."
The man looks up at him and blinks a few times. Matt sighs and repeats everything in Japanese, then closes the door.
"Never get in to the people smuggling business, especially not with the Yakuza. Old guy doesn't even look like he'd be good for anything."
Matt shakes his head and heads in to his bedroom.
*****ON CAMERA*****
Matthew Shields stands inside of a fairly large kitchen that looks newly remodeled. He stands in front of a large stainless steel pot, steam rising up, he takes a long deep breath and then turns to the camera.
"Not the place you expected to see someone like me, huh? Let me guess, you idiots think I hang out in graveyards or some weird dark clubs with death metal blaring? I'm here for a fun little lesson."
Shields steps out of view of the camera for a few seconds, and then comes back with a fairly large lobster in his hand. The lobster moves around a bit, but is fairly docile.
"Have any of you ever cooked a lobster? It's very interesting how you do it."
Matt walks over to the pot with steam rising from it and goes to put the lobster in, but it suddenly starts thrashing and pinching with his claws. The lobster struggles and fights to get away, but Shields pulls him back and he slowly calms. Shields then grabs another pot from the sink and puts it on the stove. The camera peers over and sees it's filled with water. Matt tosses a bit of sea salt into the water and slowly submerges the crustacean. It goes in with no struggle or fight this time.
"You see, if you try to just toss him into a boiling pot, they'll fight with everything they have to avoid it. However, if you put him in room temperature water and slowly start bringing the temperature up."
Matt turns back and turns on the burner, bringing it to a 3.
"He'll float there happy and oblivious until he boils. He will go in to the place that is his doom, willingly."
Matt peers down at the pot for a few seconds and smiles.
"Now, this little analogy could apply to so many people in Redemption. John Blade, who somehow thinks he's worthy of a match with me. That idiot Dick Devereaux who chose to screw me over two weeks ago. But this week, it applies perfectly to Avery Miles the third. This is a man who is actually happy about being put into a match against me. He's excited for it. He thinks that it's going to be something good for him. Sadly, just like the lobster, he is walking into his doom, and he's completely oblivious to it."
Matt looks back and turns the heat up a little more, small bubbles starting to rise in the water as the temperature increases.
"Avery, you are not ready for this challenge. You are not worthy of this challenge, and you are in serious danger of ending up like your old friend Mark Storm. I ran him out of this company and I am more than happy to do the same to you. Avery, you are not going to be the conquering hero. You are not going to be the man that saves this title from the grasp of the monster. You are not going to be carried on the shoulders of the cheering fans. You are going to be beaten, broken, and left wishing that you could just float away to your death like this poor fellow."
Matt turns up the heat more as the water reaches a rolling boil and the life is seen slowly leaving the large crustacean.
