EXT. STREET - ELSEWHERE
Franklin Smith:
"Are you sure this is a good idea?”
"Are you sure this is a good idea?”
Walter:
"We have to try it. Just try it for our sake, and Honey's.”
"We have to try it. Just try it for our sake, and Honey's.”
Franklin dressed in white knee high shorts and a blue polo shirt with sandals on. Walter a white dress shirt and faded cobalt blue pants with black leather loafers. Between them is Honey at a young age. In a dungaree dress over a cream yellow t-shirt with some white beach sandals. A blue backpack on her back with her name on it in big pink letters stitched into the bag. A bracelet on with her name and both Walter and Franklin's home and work phone numbers on it.
HONEY:
(EXCITED)
“My first time, like, on the school bus!”
(EXCITED)
“My first time, like, on the school bus!”
Honey says with a squeal afterward.
Franklin Smith:
"Honey, remember to sit somewhere in the middle. The roughiens sit at the back and ideally you want a couple kids distance from whatever this bus driver maybe.”
"Honey, remember to sit somewhere in the middle. The roughiens sit at the back and ideally you want a couple kids distance from whatever this bus driver maybe.”
Walter:
"I'm positive they background check the driver, Frankie.”
"I'm positive they background check the driver, Frankie.”
Franklin Smith:
"How do you know? We could just be carting our only daughter off on a bus and this maniac decides today of all days to head to Mexico and sell the kids off into whatever for some sweet...C-O-C-A-I-N-E.”
"How do you know? We could just be carting our only daughter off on a bus and this maniac decides today of all days to head to Mexico and sell the kids off into whatever for some sweet...C-O-C-A-I-N-E.”
Honey began trying to spell it in her head but got distracted by a park bench advert.
HONEY:
(SLOWLY READING)
“Need a house? Call Mike Sher-Man.”
(SLOWLY READING)
“Need a house? Call Mike Sher-Man.”
Franklin Smith:
"I think you're giving public sector and bus drivers far too much potential.”
"I think you're giving public sector and bus drivers far too much potential.”
Just then the bus arrives and the doors open, scaring Honey. The driver's appearance drops Franklin's jaw as a young twenty two year old welcomes them on the bus.
Bus Driver:
"All aboard Honey Smith.”
"All aboard Honey Smith.”
Honey feels the immediate relax and gives her dads a kiss on the cheeks.
Franklin Smith:
"I'll see you right here. You get off the bus right here after school, ok Honey?”
"I'll see you right here. You get off the bus right here after school, ok Honey?”
Honey nods.
HONEY:
“Okey dokey, Daddy.”
“Okey dokey, Daddy.”
She smiles but Franklin rests his hands on her shoulders and crouches down to her height.
Franklin Smith:
"Promise me you won't get off the bus until this stop. Until you see me. Promise me, Honey.”
"Promise me you won't get off the bus until this stop. Until you see me. Promise me, Honey.”
Honey draws a small cross over her own heart and looks at her dad's concerned eyes.
HONEY:
“I Honey Promise.”
“I Honey Promise.”
Franklin's fatherly grip releases Honey with a tiny sigh of relief of their verbal contract. Walter then leans down to kiss her on the top of her head.
Walter:
"Stay safe, Little Miss Sunshine.”
"Stay safe, Little Miss Sunshine.”
Honey pulls the straps of her bag giddy before taking her first step.
HONEY:
“One small step for Honey. One giant leap for Education!”
“One small step for Honey. One giant leap for Education!”
Bus Driver:
"That's the spirit.”
"That's the spirit.”
Honey says getting in and the bus driver ticks off Honey's name in a register. Honey stands at the start of the bus, and looks around at her classmates before finding her way to a seat next to a boy with glasses who wore the same blue as her dad in a long sleeve t-shirt.
HONEY:
“Hello!”
“Hello!”
Outside of the bus Franklin snaps a picture of the pair.
Franklin Smith:
"Honey's first bus buddy/first suspect if she goes missing.”
"Honey's first bus buddy/first suspect if she goes missing.”
Walter:
"It will be fine. I've got to get to work. Have fun at the gym, don't forget to pick up my dry cleaning and I'll see you both at seven.”
"It will be fine. I've got to get to work. Have fun at the gym, don't forget to pick up my dry cleaning and I'll see you both at seven.”
The pair kiss as Franklin and Walter head back down the street to their home where Walter steps into his car and reverses out. Franklin sets an alarm on his phone for Pick up Honey at Bus Stop.
CUT TO:
INT. SCHOOL CAFETERIA - LATER THAT DAY
Honey stands in her dungaree dress over a cream yellow t-shirt with a pair of white beach sandals on getting her lunch out from her backpack next to a boy. His hair black with a leather jacket, a white t-shirt underneath and jeans.
Harvey:
"I got a peanut butter and jelly sandwich then a candy bar. A KitKat. What do you have, Honey?”
"I got a peanut butter and jelly sandwich then a candy bar. A KitKat. What do you have, Honey?”
HONEY:
“Um. I have some yummy couscous and…”
“Um. I have some yummy couscous and…”
Honey looks up as she roots around in to find her lunch. Harvey is already surprised by Honey's Tupperware box with couscous salad and a plastic spoon stuck to the lid with tape.
HONEY:
“I also got some strawberry slices too! My daddy made them for me.”
“I also got some strawberry slices too! My daddy made them for me.”
She pulls out her second Tupperware box full of strawberries.
Harvey:
"Geez. You have some…interesting…food.”
"Geez. You have some…interesting…food.”
Harvey says looking at her couscous salad, highly curious about what it even is. Honey pulls out from her bag the last bit she had for lunch: A pack of Doritos that she looks curious at.
HONEY:
“Door-ee-tos? What are they doing in here?”
“Door-ee-tos? What are they doing in here?”
Harvey:
"Trade! How about I trade you this chocolate bar for those chips?”
"Trade! How about I trade you this chocolate bar for those chips?”
HONEY:
“Ummm…”
“Ummm…”
Honey says looking over at the KitKat a little curious.
HONEY:
“I don't know, like, my daddy said not to have chocolates unless it's Christmas.”
“I don't know, like, my daddy said not to have chocolates unless it's Christmas.”
Harvey:
"Do you like Cool Ranch.”
"Do you like Cool Ranch.”
HONEY:
“I've never tried one. Are they good?”
“I've never tried one. Are they good?”
Honey says pulling her bag close that she looks at closely. Harvey opens the bag for her and the aroma flies out of the bag to Honey's nose. She wrinkles it a little bit with a slight frown and then lifts up her first chip before nibbling on it and pulls it away from her.
HONEY:
“Yuck! Too Salty!”
“Yuck! Too Salty!”
Honey practically shoves the bag at Harvey who has no problem taking them and sliding the candy bar to Honey. Honey gets out of her bag her apple juice box and quickly cleans out her palate. Harvey begins by digging into the bag while Honey takes the candy bar and breaks open the chocolate. She takes her first bite and squeaks in chocolatey goodness and then adds her first bite of her strawberry slices for a double flavour which makes her sway.
Harvey:
"You ok, Honey?”
"You ok, Honey?”
HONEY:
“Mmhmm! These are delicious. KitKat and strawberries, like, I wish they made them in one yummy snack!”
“Mmhmm! These are delicious. KitKat and strawberries, like, I wish they made them in one yummy snack!”
Harvey just chuckles.
Harvey:
"Impossible, Honey. They can't do that.”
"Impossible, Honey. They can't do that.”
Honey still enjoys her food heaven as Harvey tucks into his chips. As lunch goes by.
CUT TO:
EXT. SCHOOL PLAYGROUND - LATER THAT DAY
Honey sits at a table with a few of her bus pals as she tries to do some trading with people with the cards she got earlier. Honey holds one card close to her chest and shakes her head.
HONEY:
“Nope. I won't trade this one!”
“Nope. I won't trade this one!”
She says chortling and hands over another one for a different card. Behind Honey approaches a boy. Pale skin, brown eyes, and darker brown, curly hair. The students beside Honey see this man approach and back away as Honey continues to be oblivious and hands out a card.
HONEY:
“Simon? Here, you can, like, have this one.”
“Simon? Here, you can, like, have this one.”
Honey says to the boy with the long sleeve blue shirt she sat on the bus with. She then turns around to see the boy towering over her, very large, above average height for the fourth grade. He swallows down his last bite of a chocolate bar and looks down at Honey.
HONEY:
“Hello, James! We're, like, trading. Want to play.”
“Hello, James! We're, like, trading. Want to play.”
This makes his eye twitch. He breaths rather loudly through his nose. He looks at Honey's pile splayed out but then sees the card she's still holding close to her chest.
James:
"It's Jimmy, stupid.”
"It's Jimmy, stupid.”
Jimmy says and reaches for Honey's hand.
Jimmy:
"And I don't trade. I take.”
"And I don't trade. I take.”
Honey's eyes go wide as he grabs her wrist and pulls her to her feet, showing he's above average in strength to boot. Honey dangles on her tip toes and uses her other hand to try and grab the card, but Jimmy squeezes her wrist to make her grip barely there and snatches the card from out of it as he guffaws.
HONEY:
“That's mine!”
“That's mine!”
Honey says trying to reach it but gets shoved away to sit down forcefully on the bench attached to the table. Jimmy crams the card into his grey sweatpants pocket and turns away.
HONEY:
“He stole!”
“He stole!”
Honey says not knowing what to do. The bus pals too scared to challenge James and offer Honey a card to try and replace it, some searching for a Pikachu card but unable to find one as Honey gets up tearfully to go and find a teacher. She looks around but sees that the playground monitor has her hands full with separating two sixth graders; Duncan Slater and another boy who takes them inside.

Harvey:
"Honey! Wait!”
"Honey! Wait!”
Honey stops on the first step and turns back to see Harvey running towards her with a Pokémon card in his hand like a letter. Stopping before her, Harvey shows Honey the card with Honey's sticker she had put on the card, a cute bee. Recognizing it, Honey jumps for joy and grabs hold of Harvey around his neck for a hug, swinging on him slightly.
HONEY:
“You got it back for me!”
“You got it back for me!”
Honey says landing on her feet.
Harvey:
"Well…I found it. Not a big deal.”
"Well…I found it. Not a big deal.”
He says sincerely and hands it over to Honey. Honey gets out of her backpack a reward and hands him over the card. Honey holds it with both hands to see the little electric Pokémon.
HONEY:
“It is a big deal! Here!”
“It is a big deal! Here!”
She pulls out of her backpack a pack of milk duds, half eaten that she gives over to Harvey.
HONEY:
“You're the best, Harvey”
“You're the best, Harvey”
Honey says delivering a second hug and turns before galloping down the steps.
Harvey:
"Honey wait!”
"Honey wait!”
Honey just misses this yell as she skips after her jump from the third to last step onto the concrete floor right towards the school bus line up with two or three students encouraging her to hurry as she was almost running late.
Harvey:
(Muttering to himself)
"I'm Lactose Intolerant…”
(Muttering to himself)
"I'm Lactose Intolerant…”
HONEY:
“Hi, Simon! Look, my Pikachu is back!”
“Hi, Simon! Look, my Pikachu is back!”
Honey says showing the boy with a long blue sleeve shirt the card she got back with the small bee sticker she stuck to the card. The pair of them get on the bus as Harvey pulls out his keys to his bike chain.
EXT. STREET - HOME TIME
The bus pulls up to Honey's street with Franklin waiting antsy and pacing until he sees the bus and his eyes become rich with hope Honey is on the bus. The bus pulls up to the stop and Honey walks to the end, wishing goodbye to the remaining students and then turns to the bus driver.
HONEY:
(POLITELY)
“Thank you for driving me home safely.”
(POLITELY)
“Thank you for driving me home safely.”
Along with a rosy-cheeked smile to her before spinning on her heels to run down the steps.
Bus Driver:
"No trouble at all. Have a good day.”
"No trouble at all. Have a good day.”
HONEY:
(OVERLY EXCITED)
“Daddy daddy daddy!”
(OVERLY EXCITED)
“Daddy daddy daddy!”
Honey says landing on the pavement and takes off running towards her dad Franklin who catches her in his arms and lifts her up before hugging her close and Honey slides down to land on her feet.
Franklin Smith:
"How was school? Did anyone on the bus bother you…did they brand you?”
"How was school? Did anyone on the bus bother you…did they brand you?”
Honey still looks transfixed on her Pikachu card, completely oblivious to Franklin looking at the back of her neck, ankles, arms for signs of tattoos or any sort of markings or damage to his daughter.
HONEY:
“I know what I want to be next month for Halloween!”
“I know what I want to be next month for Halloween!”
Honey says as they walk around the corner towards her home.
Franklin Smith:
"What's that? A little bunny rabbit again. Oh, we could do me as wizard whitebeard and you as where's waldo.”
"What's that? A little bunny rabbit again. Oh, we could do me as wizard whitebeard and you as where's waldo.”
HONEY:
“No, I'm going to be Honeychu!”
“No, I'm going to be Honeychu!”
Honey says thrusting the card at her dad who has to actually recoil in order to get a good look. He sees the card and pictures Honey in a onesie with her face painted, red dots on her cheeks.
Franklin Smith:
"I'm sure we can do that.”
"I'm sure we can do that.”
HONEY:
“I also had, like, a yummy KitKat today. I ate my strawberry slices. Also I ate them together! It was, like, very yummy, Daddy. And I did lots of trading today, like,…”
“I also had, like, a yummy KitKat today. I ate my strawberry slices. Also I ate them together! It was, like, very yummy, Daddy. And I did lots of trading today, like,…”
Honey says recounting her day in mismatched order to Franklin as he opens the door to let her inside.
