Inside of an L.A. gym we see Jack Santore walk inside, ready for a workout. He walks over to the cardio equipment before choosing a treadmill, still working on improving his cardio strength as Maxie suggested to him, it seems. He does some light stretching before he gets onto the treadmill and looks through the programs. Jack is about to hit the start button before he spots a familiar face.
Jack: “Lexie?”
He hops off of the treadmill as he notices her walking past the cardio equipment. Lexie dressed with her hair up in a cross back black sports top and some grey shorts heads towards a mat free and sits down. She closes her eyes and takes the time to begin breathing.
Jack: “Lexie?”
Jack taps her on the shoulder softly as she's sitting doing her breathing exercises.
Lexie opens one eye to look at him.
Lexie: “I’m trying to do my warm up.”
Lexie says leaning down as she stretches forward to loosen up her muscles.
Jack: “Right, sorry.”
Jack sits next to Lexie and smiles as she continues doing her stretches.
Jack: “So how are ya?”
He continues grinning as Lexie is trying to focus on her workout.
Lexie: "Tre nosy…"
Lexie gives him a look showing her slightly insulted at Jack prying into her life. She lifts her arms up and stretches her arms.
Lexie: "I’m fine since you had to ask. You?"
Jack: “I'm good. Haven't seen you in a while. What have you been up to?”
Jack acknowledges that he's intentionally being a pest by the fact that he's grinning like a fool while asking questions of Lexie that obviously annoy her.
Jack: “Is that all you're going to do? Just stretch and do yoga or something? Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course.”
Lexie: "Well if I out bench you, the boys won't let you live it down. I'm doing you a favour by doing some yoga. You're welcome."
Lexie says stretching back to feel the tension in her abs.
Lexie: "I've been bored at home. But got invited to Los Angeles next week.
Jack: “Los Angeles, huh? What are you gonna do there?”
Jack does the same poses as Lexie does for a few moments before laughing it off.
Jack: “You gonna be around a while? I should probably actually work out.”
Lexie: "You'll have to risk it won't you, Goody Two Shoes? Maybe I will, maybe I won't."
She says getting herself a small dumbbell and sits up to do her Russian Twists.
Jack: “Sounds good. Maybe I'll catch you later on.”
Jack gives Lexie a little nod before he sits up and goes over to do his workout. It's back and bicep day so Jack goes through his routine of different weight exercises and cable machines before he heads over to the cardio equipment again for another session.
Jack doesn't spot Lexie anymore, so he assumes that she's left. Jack walks by the smoothie place to get a protein shake. He grabs his shake and turns to leave before spotting Lexie sitting by herself at a table. He smiles and then heads over to her.
Jack: “Is this seat taken?”
He doesn't wait for a response. He just pulls out the chair and sits down.
Lexie: "Tre impulsive. Didn't want a pomegranate and mango smoothie?"
Lexie waves her half drank smoothie to get a chuckle from Jack and Lexie interrupts him as he goes to answer.
Lexie: "Training hard?"
Jack sips on his vanilla protein shake with pineapple and orange juice.
Jack: “As hard as I can, yeah.”
Jack takes another sip.
Jack: “So are you all done working out today?”
Lexie: "Duh. I am done for the day."
Lexie shows off her jacket on halfway zipped up her body.
Lexie: "Pay you ten dollars to down that shake in one."
Jack:
Jack shakes his head with a slight chuckle.
Jack: “My stomach wouldn't feel very good after trying to chug a shake anyway. I mean maybe a beer, but that's it.”
Lexie rolls her eyes down to her drink as she says
Lexie: "Such a risk taker…"
And sips her shake.
Lexie: “So what did you do Lexie?"
Lexie taps his hands.
Lexie: "Thanks for asking, Chuckles. I actually beat my record on the elliptical machine."
Jack sips his shake with a chuckle and shake of his head. It's typical Lexie but he finds it endearing. Weird, I know.
Jack: “What record was that? Like 15 minutes?”
See? Jack can be sarcastic too.
Jack: “I didn't know you were into cardio.”
Lexie: "You don't know a lot of things."
Lexie says glancing at him, with a very self earned smile for her own accomplishment.
Jack: “No. I suppose not.”
Jack takes a sip of his drink.
Jack: “Don't know much about you either. More like I don't get much about you. I guess I never will.”
Lexie: "Or you can ask questions to learn…?"
Lexie prods her head forward with her eyebrows raised to make it clear what the obvious thing to do was.
Lexie: "You knew that, right?"
Jack: “Yeah. I do. Not sure you'll be straight with me anyway though.”
Jack shrugs his shoulders as he takes a sip of his drink again. It's clear there's mounting frustration on his part when it comes to Lexie.
Jack: “You have to know you do that, right?”
Jack raises his eyebrows now, fight fire with fire.
Lexie partly chuckles and finishes her smoothie off. Setting the cup down, she sits back.
Lexie: "I'll be as straight as possible then. Since it's all too confusing on your petite brain, can't seem to cope."
She says looking at his head, the shape, wondering if it was proportional to his body.
Lexie: "Ask away…"
Jack takes another sip of his shake, sighing heavily. It's clear he believes this conversation is going to be a heavy one.
Jack: “How do you feel about me? I mean really feel about me? Because I thought it was clear. I thought after we went out that you understood that I liked you. Or maybe you do understand and you just don't care. I really don't know.”
Jack shrugs his shoulders as his frustration is evident.
Lexie: "Tre emotional. Here I was expecting some lame response like “What are you doing over the holidays?"
Lexie gives him a look over, wondering with a slight crooked smirk.
Lexie: "How do I feel…"
Lexie drums her nails on the table.
Lexie: "You're a stalker. An intrusion on my workouts. A goodie two shoes. A bit of blouse at times with all these outbursts, but I didn't hate the dates. So I'm warming to you only slightly."
Jack scratches his chin with a slight nod. He sips on his drink again. You can probably cut the tension with a knife.
Jack: “That's real nice, Lexie. You're a real nice girl. Have fun being alone, sweetheart. Because that's how you're going to end up.”
Jack shrugs his shoulders in a very--almost insulting way with his eyes widened a bit before he throws his cup in a nearby trash can.
Jack: “Take care.”
He says that as insincerely as possible before turning and walking away and out the door, leaving Lexie sitting alone.
She pulls out her phone and texts Jack, strategically waiting a period before typing: “About time you showed a backbone. See you soon.”
Jack: “Lexie?”
