The bullet ripped it's way through the small paper target and hit the backing with a thud. Jason Hunter smiled as he looked down range and saw he had gotten a perfect head shot to go along with the heart shot, shots between what would be both eyes, and shots in each lung. He sets his Sako 85 Finnlight rifle down, and looks around as the range is completely vacant. A nice perk that Matt had set up so that he could get in a bit of stress relief and cut a promo in a less than conventional locale. Jason takes his headphones off, but leaves on his bright orange protective glasses as he looks back at the camera.
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. There's many different wordings for this statement. Sometimes remember is replaced with forget. Sometimes doomed is used in place of condemned. Some people choose to say ignore rather than remember or forget. No matter how it is worded, the saying rings true. If you never consider the past, your future will see suffering. This is a statement that rings especially true for this next edition of Hype. Not only is there my history to consider, but there's the history between myself and Jack Santore."
Hunter stops and grabs a nearby folding chair, he pulls it to him and sits down in it backwards.
"It wasn't that long ago that myself and Jack Santore faced off on Hype. I hope that he remembers what happens in that match. I know that I certainly do. I remember him coming out like a mad man. He threw everything he had at me right from the get, and a lot of people thought he was going to make quick work of me. Instead, I weathered the storm, found my opening and took it. I implemented the game plan I had from the start. I did exactly what I told Jack Santore that I was going to do, yet he couldn't overcome it. I guarantee that knee hasn't gotten any stronger in the two months since we faced off Jack. Remembering my history, well it's hard to not go for that knee once more. It's hard to not do exactly what I did last time, where you down, take advantage of the injury, and then score the one, two, three."
Hunter gives a slight smirk to the camera as he takes the protective glasses off. He closes one side, and keeps the other in his hand, twirling the glasses a bit.
"I wonder Jack, will you remember history? Will you decide that coming out of the gate like a madman isn't the best idea. Are you gonna shoot out of your corner like a bullet once again? Or, will you try and play it smart? Work to protect that injury and use your size advantage? Will you maybe try to turn my game plan around on me and go after my knee? Sure it hasn't suffered the kind of trauma that yours has, but taking away a leg is always a smart game plan. Then again, are you really a smart guy Jack? If you were, smart, you wouldn't have tossed out so many big moves so early on. You would have done research, you would would have known about my toughness and resilience. If you were smart, you would have tried to find a weakness in me to exploit, just like I did with you. History Jack, has shown me that you are not a smart man and you will not learn from your mistakes. History Jack, is completely in my favor going in to this match."
Jason stops twirling the glasses and puts them in his shirt as he leans forward and looks at the camera.
"It's not just because I beat you the last time we faced off though. Actually, my recent loss at Unscripted is something you could look at as a sign. I was looking back at my history in West Coast Genesis and I noticed a bit of a strange trend. I lost my first match on Unscripted, than I beat you at my first Hype. I lost a tag match at Unscripted, then I beat Lucifer at Hype. This last at Unscripted, I lost a tag team match. So come Hype, I have to win. I have to beat you once again. Not to keep some strange little streak going though. Believe me, I damn sure don't intend on losing at the next Unscripted. I need to beat you, to at least get back to an even record. I need to beat you to have at least a fifty percent winning record. For the third hype in a row, I need a bounce back win. I don't like this feeling Jack. I don't like having to come back from a loss. I damn sure don't intend on going in to the next show needing to bounce back from a loss either."
Hunter stops and takes a few breaths as he looks down at the target siting still and motionless. He grabs the camera and turns it towards the target.
"Look at that Jack and think about this question for a few seconds. What do you see?"
Jason has the camera zoom in on the various holes through the target, then zoom out as he turns it back towards him.
"I hope that you got the answer, perfection. Every single one of those shots was placed perfectly. I took aim, fired, and the bullet went exactly where I wanted it to. Three times now, that has not happened. Three times inside that ring, I have taken aim, I have fired, and I have completely missed the mark. I can't let it happen a fourth time. I can't allow you to win against me Jack. I need to make lightning strike twice on Saturday night. I need history to repeat itself on Saturday night. History is on my side, but more than that, I will do whatever I have to do to make sure that Saturday night does not begin a losing streak for me. It doesn't matter if some people boo or call it cheap. The only thing that matters is winning and making history once again."
Jason stands up, puts the chair back, and then packs up his rifle in his case before he makes his exit.
