Avery: That's the core difference between me and you Avery. That is the reason why I don't like you, I don't trust you, and I damn sure don't think you deserve Serenity
Avery recites the very words that started the hellstorm of a night for Mason Moore. Avery Miles III was not in a good mood, and it was fueled by some scathing words that the current Spotlight Champion had to say about him, his career, and his personal life. Avery continues to speak into the camera.
Avery: You are two faced, and it's only a matter of time until you wind up on another losing streak, get frustrated, and end up turning back in to that asshole you used to be.
He continues to say verbatim what Moore had to say about him. Avery's eyes have a deadpan look to them as if he could stare a hole through anyone watching.
Avery: Trust me Avery, you are not ready for this challenge.
Avery lets it all sink in as he sits on the edge of a ring in his Macon, Georgia-based wrestling school. The backdrop to his promo was not important, as he wanted to focus on his opponent and the words he said.
Avery: Mason Moore. A man that I happily said was a "genetic beast" and admitted that the task at hand was not an easy one ahead of me. And yet, you have to come out against me and get personal. Bring up my past all that you want. Say that I am a piece of shit that cheated his way to some wins. Hell, I know that for a SMALL part of my career, I did what it took to win. But there. Right there, Mason. SMALL. Look at my LONG history of both wins and losses, and NEVER... I repeat, NEVER, was two-faced during that time. I have even come out and apologized to those that I wronged. I tried to make amends. And I have been forgiven. And yet, you bring up things that do not matter today. And it's funny, history. You can use it whenever or however you want. You are right, what I did elsewhere or in the past does not matter... but wait?!!? You said I was two-faced when I got on a losing streak. Something else in the past? So what is good for your argument is fine, but what does against it, is not. Gotcha. I guess that is how you prefer to do things. You do as you see fit, and let's see what sort of legacy you leave behind. Look at the history of this title. Look at the names. How much of them do people even remember? So many have come and gone; claiming to be the best ever.
Avery smiles and he shakes his head side to side. He was not loving having to show this side of him. He was not happy and was hoping for things to be respectable, but Mason decided against that all on his own. Avery was a changed man; married, settling down, wanting to have children. He was past trying to go toe-to-toe verbally with people that he felt were slighting his career. Or his personality.
Avery: You know, while you and I may have not seen eye-to-eye, I was assured by Serenity that you were a good guy. she knows the Horsemen obviously, and I figured that we would go out there and show everyone what two top notch performers we are. I was ready to give it my all, as I was MORE than prepared for our match. But you have to take it there. You had to bring up my Serenity not as the Horsemen interviewer; or even as a wrestler or trainer. But as my wife. And THAT is where you crossed the line. And you know, the so-called "two faced" Avery would have called you out on your shit and come at you just like you came at me. I would allow myself to stoop to your level. But it is not worth it. I saw Twitter. I saw what happened. I saw how your night went. No need for me to pile on. You have literally thrown the grenade and stepped on it yourself. I do not feel bad for you, like some people were doing. You wanted to hype this match for something that is not in-ring related, and there was collateral damage. This is on you, Mason. Not me. Not Serenity. You, Mason. You did this.
He looks off camera for a second as if he is gathering his thoughts. He finally turns his head and looks back into the camera. Avery bites his lower lip for a second, ready to start. He holds back for a second, and then speaks.
Avery: This is not about Serenity. This is not about my past. This is not about what I've done elsewhere. This is about you and me, Mason. I tried to be nice. But you asked for this. You have a title. Congrats. You are cocky and full of yourself. I was there before. I thought the world owed me something. You are sorely mistaken if you think that i am ill-prepared for this match. I am more ready then I've ever been. And I am going to show you just how two-faced I am. I am warning you. I WILL be dropping you. I WILL Be beating you. And that shiny Spotlight Championship? I WILL be taking that. You might be a Midnight Horsemen. You might be someone with connections and friends. I am not afraid of you. I've seen you push around Coda before. I've seen you push around Blair. Step to me, Mason. I dare you. You are not going to push me around. You are not getting rid of me that easy. This match? You have elevated it. Escalated it. I was happy to face some more great competition. But you wanted to make this personal. Just remember Mason; LONG before it was Redemption, it was once the original NGW. I was a part of that. Your little Spotlight title? Look back in its history. You will find a familiar name. Spelled out...
