Austen hands his phone to Mercedes as they stand at the end of the oceanside Pier. He asks her to record him as Unscripted is only a few days away. Austen is teaming up with Melina Garrison to take on Julianna DiMaria and Jason Hunter. The video begins as Mercedes giggling is heard.
Austen: Sideways.
The screen rotates one way and then another. Back and forth until it settles.
Austen: You got it?
The camera moves up and down as Mercedes nods.
Austen: Okay, good. So... this Saturday night is a big tag team match for me. I am teaming up with Melina Garrison. She and I may be on two different ends of the spectrum with how we go about in the ring. That does not mean that I am afraid of losing. Not at all. I know what a talent Melina is and we both want to win. We have that in common. I know that I can learn some things from her. And maybe I can help to lighten her up a bit. Mercedes is going to be interviewing us for the show which will be fun, too.
Another giggle is heard.
Austen: I know... it's like oil and water tag teaming. But the difference is that I am sure Melina and I do not have egos when it comes to this match. Jason and Julianna? I am sure that they are going to be out for themselves. They are going to want to do what they can to outdo the other and put the spotlight on themselves. Whether it is Melina or myself picking up the win, I am fine with it. We are going to work together as a team with one goal in mind. To win.
He nods, sure of himself and his tag team partner.
Austen: I know that Julianna has gone off the deep end a bit as of late, and Jason believes himself to be the second coming of Matthew Shields. Two people that the company would be better off without, as we do not need their sort of negative outlook or toxic personalities. People like myself, Danni, Ruby, Jack, and Donovan are putting the company on our shoulders to build it up to be something great. I will not allow toxicity to take it down. West Coast Genesis is a great company and I plan on accomplishing everything that I can before I decide to join NGW. Yes, I have goals. Desires to move up there. But for now? I want to win the South Bay Title. I was to represent my home. And then? The West Coast Championship is something that I also dream of.
He pauses.
Austen: I am West Coast Genesis. I am West Coast. A Cali Boy through and through. I thought Julianna was right about Ryan Keys representing this company, but I was wrong. She is not the right representation either. I know what this company needs. And I am ready to give it. This weekend? It needs a win for Team GarriWell.
