There's a cynical feeling saying I should give up
You said everything you'll ever say
There's a moment of panic when I hear the phone ring
Anxiety's calling in my head
Is it back again? Are you back again?

Cameras: ON
“Hello, everyone! Come on, Adam! Say hello to the people watching this!”
The camera immediately opens up at the Moscone Center, the venue for two major events for the duo sitting behind a table: the Squared Circle Convention, which has been shortened to C2Con to allow for people to promote it on Twitter, especially the mere mortals who are still at one hundred forty characters. The second event is the upcoming West Coast Genesis, which was a mere two days away from the taping of this video.
The person initially speaking gestures for the younger man sitting next to him to speak. The only response young West Coast Genesis wrestler Adam Sanders can muster is a polite wave to the camera. The protege of Adrien Cochrane keeps smiling at the camera, wearing red and black plaid with a pair of blue jeans. Meanwhile, the manager for both mentor and mentoree, himself wearing a black t-shirt and shorts, continues speaking.
“I guess that will have to do. Anyway, my name is Eddie Walker, I know some of you are sick of me introducing myself each time I come on camera, but there’s a lot of people who have no idea who I am. It’s called being thorough. And I am nothing if not thorough when it comes to doing my job.
“So what is my job, you ask? Well, I take on the business side of things of these talented individuals I represent. Like young Adam here!”
The awkward grappler waves again.
“I’m going to help take Adam here to the next level. How am I going to do that? Well, he’s got all the workings of a good young wrestler who will get better with each passing match. He just has...issues...talking about his matches when a camera is pointed at him or he’s around large groups of people. Any idea how the hell we’re going to go through with this convention where there’s going to be thousands of people coming in here and expecting to talk to you?”
Adam’s eyes widen for a moment before giving a weak shrug.
“You think you can follow through with this whole thing?”
Sanders gives a nod. He keeps nodding to try to emulate confidence.
“And while his public speaking is a work in progress, he’s taken great strides to improving and honing his craft in the ring. Want proof? Go ahead and look at the match he had with Megan Rydell. He took punishment and never gave up. Lesser competitors would have submitted when they were locked into that finisher of Rydell’s. And what does he do? He fights out of it, turns it into a roll up, and gets the victory. If I would bet on an underdog to come out and do something like that, this is my underdog. And he loves playing that underdog card!”
Sanders gives some shifty eyes, as if Eddie was just talking to try to hype him.
“Am I saying Adam here is the greatest wrestler on the planet? Not necessarily. But I believe he was trained by one of the best there is. And the heart and willingness to never give up reminds me of the man who trained him. And if Adam can grow into having a career like that man, I’d say he’s doing pretty well for himself.
“Which brings us to our upcoming match that is in literally two days. Welcome to West Coast Genesis, Shawn Young! By the way, my client here shares a last name with the running back Barry and senator Bernie, not the comedian that shares his first name. He was not in the movie 50 First Dates, Big Daddy, Grown Ups, or Mr. Deeds. At no point in his lifetime was he playing a waterboy for a football team or a quarterback for a prison football team. And I think all the time around Adrien has rubbed off on him where he can probably play drums better than Adam Sandler like he tried to do in that movie Airheads. So yes, there may only be a two letter difference, but if you expect the fifty-one-year-old comedian, you’re going to have a lot of problems when you realize it’s the twenty-three-year-old protege of a three-time World Heavyweight Champion.
“You said you don’t want to trash Adam because he hasn’t said or done anything wrong. Well, he’s probably not going to say much, honestly. But young Adam here was taught to be honorable and respectful in this great industry. You were right when you said we are mostly depending on Adam’s actions speaking louder than his words due to the lack of the latter. And his actions come from this kid’s good heart. Just look at him!”
Adam blankly stares into the camera, unsure what to do as the camera focuses on him. He blinks a few times before the camera zooms out on him. Walker turns back to his client.
“You are aware that those doors are going to open in less than twenty minutes and you’re going to have to sign autographs and share stories with all sorts of fans, right?”
Adam nods his head to his manager. Then he speaks for the first time since they started shooting the video.
“I mean, there won’t be that many fans for me, right?”
Walker sighs before shaking his head, palm of his left hand on his temple.
“Yes, you will have lots of fans, Adam! You will be signing so many autographs, your wrist will hurt! Making it easier for Shawn Young to...you know what, I’m not going to be giving him ideas. But you’re the future of wrestling, Adam. And you know what? This Shawn kid could be as well. So this is what we are going to do. You’re going to put on a brave face, sign a few hundred autographs and show appreciation to all the people who cheer for you when you step into a WCG ring. And then after that, you’re going to step into that ring with Shawn Young, you’re going to hit your little piledriver move on him, and then you’re going to win your match. And then everyone will know that Adam Sanders should be taken seriously after winning twice on Hype.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Don’t sir me on camera! Say something about your match!”
Sanders nods his head before finally saying something to Shawn Young.
“Good luck, Shawn.”
Eddie gives Adam a second to say something more than those three words. After he realizes that was all the Michigan native was going to say, he turns back to the camera.
“And with that, we’ve gotta get ready for the convention. We will see you on Saturday...or maybe even in this line here tonight!”
Don't wake me up before you leave
Is there the slightest trace of what you once believed
I feel your hand unlock the door
Leaving fingerprints of water in the oil
What's the point of saying sorry now
Lost my voice while fighting my way out
