Scene opens as we find the Number One Contender to the West Coast Championship, Donovan Basch, in the middle of a workout. Clad in a pair of workout shorts, gloves, and kick pads, sweat flies from his brow as he lays into a sparring dummy with a steady stream of punches and kicks. Once he finishes, he reaches down to retrieve a towel to mop his brow, draping it over his neck once he's done.
Donovan: Enlighten me, Mr Keys….
In fact, say something… anything…. To acknowledge that you're still drawing breath. I would be quite annoyed if people were to accuse me of desecrating a corpse.
You owe me…. And the rest of the fans of West Coast Genesis an explanation as to why you've gone silent. Was back-to-back losses to that banshee currently calling herself the West Coast Champion THAT demoralizing?
Apparently so, because you've left no trace since the last time Screaming Mimi defeated you. And to think, there were quite a few people pulling for you to show that your title loss was a fluke and that you would regain your place at the top of the mountain. For a short time, I counted myself amongst that number, but as time went by, I could tell that there was no true conviction behind your words. You were merely going through the motions, Mr Keys.
So we find ourselves across the ring from one another at Unscripted, and let me make this perfectly clear…. This isn't just a throwaway match for me. Not only do I want to show the fans what a truly determined individual looks like, but I want our “esteemed” West Coast Champion to see what's in store for her once my shot at her title comes to fruition.
Suffice it to say, there is some malice behind my intentions at Unscripted, Mr Keys. I could lie and say that none of it was directed at you, but that simply isn't the case. There are so many of us on the WCG roster that take this promotion seriously and to see you put so little effort into making the West Coast Championship mean anything, it made all of us look bad. So if you were expecting a civil display of sportsmanship from me, you would do well to put that notion right out of your mind. Unscripted is my opportunity to start setting things right around here… first with you, and eventually knocking that harpy off of her pedestal….
Turning from the camera, he takes the towel from his neck and casually tosses it behind him. It lands perfectly upon the camera, covering the lens, thus effectively ending his missive.
