The latest video uploaded to the West Coast Genesis website opens inside what appears to be a moving car. For a long moment after the footage starts, the camera focuses on nothing but the back of the vehicle's two front seats, as a voice-over monologue begins:
'Who am I? Are you sure you want to know? The story of my life is not for the faint of heart. If somebody told you it was a happy tale...if somebody told you I was just your average everyday girl, not a care in the world...somebody lied.'
As the last few words are spoken, a slim teenage girl, her dark crimson lipstick matching her strikingly dyed hair, leans over the edge of the driver's seat, giving the camera a concerned look. Her words, however, are inaudible, covered as they are by the ongoing monologue:
'But let me assure you...this story, like any other story worth telling, is all about a girl. That girl. The girl next door. Teagan Quinn. The woman I've been besties with since before I even knew what a bestie was.'
As the narration once again brings itself to a halt, another face appears in shot, leaning over the passenger seat of the car. It belongs to another concerned-looking teenage girl, her round face framed by multi-coloured dreadlocks. Her words, too, are drowned out by the narration, as the equally female narrator staunchly remarks:
'I'd like to tell you that was me next to her.'
At this point, the camera shifts sideways, capturing only shaky, indistinct shapes for a moment before focusing on the pudgy face of a heavyset teenage boy, halfway through taking a bite out of a jelly donut. He sticks his tongue out to the camera in a grimace, as the voice-over quips:
'Heck, I'd even take him.'
The camera shifts again, panning sideways once again to focus on the car's last two passengers . Immediately next to the camera is a lanky, older looking blonde and, next to her, sits her polar opposite – a small, young-looking brunette, the right side of her face purple with bruises. As the camera zooms in on what is clearly a nasty black eye, the latter covers her face irritably, shifting in her seat so as to cover her bruise. As she does so, the voice-over takes on a resigned tone, as it admits:
'...that's me.'
Just as soon as these words are spoken, sound returns to the inside of the car – and, by association, the video. Suddenly, the conversation between the five teens is perfectly audible – as are its slightly frantic tones.
'How you doing, Iz? Is it hurting, like, real bad?' The redhead swerves the car around a corner before turning her attention back to her friend in the back seat.
'What do you think?'
The brunette's tone is sharp as she answers her friend's question with another question. The redhead, however, does not seem particularly bothered as she retorts:
'Well, when we get to school, we'll go to the nurse and get you some ice or whatever, 'kay? You're gonna be all right...!'
The brunette, however, clearly seems to doubt this statement, as she brings a hand up to her eye with a groan.
'Mom and Dad are gonna kill me...'
The redhead, however, remains flippant about the situation.
'Why? They're not gonna know!'
'Um...Teags?' The brunette points at her swollen eye. 'This is kind of a dead giveaway...'
'So?' Teagan the redhead simply laughs again. 'We'll tell them you got a ball to the face or whatever. It'll be fine, Iz! Trust me!'
'They're not gonna buy that,' a third voice interjects. The fact that it is coming from behind the camera gives a clue as to who the speaker is, as does the other passengers' immediate reaction:
'SHUT UP, SETH!'
'All right, geez...' The cameraman huffs as he lapses back into silence, just as the driver speaks up once again.
'Dude...I got it!'
She leans back around the car seat, a wicked smirk on her features.
'Get this, 'kay? You stay over at my house tonight. We'll tell your parents we're having a sleepover, which we kind'a are anyway. That way you don't get in trouble, and you can look after your eye and stuff. Plus, we can talk about that idea we had!'
The redhead's smirk widens into a smug grin.
'Pretty smart, huh?'
The brunette's expression indicates she is somewhat in agreement, causing the brunette to whoop.
'All right!'
'Plus,' Seth pipes up again from behind the camera, 'we can get on your trampoline and Iz can practice Rocketship Izzy some mo--'
The youth does not so much as get to finish his sentence, however, before being promptly shut down by Teagan:
'Shut. UP. Seth!'
'Yeah,' the brunette concurs. 'Shut up, Seth.'
'Okay, fine,' the long-suffering cameraman sighs. 'Whatever...'
The car falls silent for a long moment after this, the only audible sound coming from the engine. It does not take long, however, for Teagan to attempt to bring the atmosphere back to its previous liveliness, as she turns to the car's other passengers and asks:
'So...you guys are coming to sleep over too, right? And then tomorrow, we all go watch Izzy kick butt?'
The two girls – and, to a lesser extent, Seth – respond enthusiastically, causing the red headed driver to whoop:
'All right! Taser sleepover, biatchesss!'
With that, and a triumphant fist-pump, Teagan puts her foot down on the accelerator...causing the car to lurch forward and grind to a stop. Angry horns are heard from somewhere outside the vehicle as the redhead turns to her less than pleased friends, an apologetic expression on her face.
'Oops...'
The video's sound once again goes mute at this point, silencing the arguing teenagers, as the narrator from the beginning returns to the forefront. Her tone is now somewhat more self-assured and triumphant, as she finally introduces herself:
'Who am I? Are you sure you wanna know?
I'm Izzy Roxx.
America's punchbag.'
America's punchbag.'
As the narrator finally states her name, the video dissolves into a black screen, across which the words 'IZZY ROXX' appear, in a font reminiscent of the Spider-Man film logo. The single, white-on-black name is the last thing viewers see as the video ends.
