Ruby Lance is seen casually hanging out on a pretty nice balcony with the city of Tokyo behind her. You know, no big deal or anything. The South Bay Champion of West Coast Genesis has her cell phone in her hand and she looks up at the camera with a funny expression on her face.
"So, you know, I haven't been in LA for a few days now. I'm actually enjoying some downtime over here in Japan. Just relaxing. Having a good time. Not stressing or getting in anybody's business, and yet…"
She sighs and shakes her head. Lifting her phone, she clearly is indicating to us that it's delivered some disturbing news to her.
"I didn't just read that I'm defending my title against Gabe Griffin or anything like that. No, I already knew about that. You know, because I'm not a clueless champion that doesn't have a clue what's going on. No, that's not me. Someone else has taken up that mantle of delusion. Instead, I've been keeping my mind on Mr. Griffin and going into yet another title defense as the South Bay Champion."
Shrugging her shoulders, she moves away from the edge of the balcony and heads back into the hotel room. Nice digs! Someone spared no cost for this little international stay. Maybe Ruby makes more as the South Bay Champion than she lets on? Who knows?
"Let's just ignore the fact that Gabe didn't really do anything to deserve this opportunity. I'm not one of those champions. Hey, you want some? Come get some. Or some kind of cheesy fight song like that. I don't know. I don't really spend my time dwelling on catchphrases. The point is, Gabe knows that he didn't really earn this. So, I'm not going to drive that point into you like a stake through the heart. I'm just going to let you live with the reality of the situation."
She offers a bright, cheery, and perky smile for her challenger before having a seat on the edge of the bed.
"I mean, I would say that Danni LeBlanc deserves the opportunity more than anyone else right now, but I'm not going to be that kind of champion that dictates who she defends against. If Kaylee agrees that you deserve this opportunity, then I am going to defend my title against you as if you really do deserve it."
Hm. Even Ruby feels a little on the bitchy side right now. She cringes at herself and shakes her head, forcing a smile back on her face.
"I am dwelling entirely on what I said I wasn't going to dwell on. My apologies, Gabe. I look forward to our match and I hope that you've at least bothered to learn my name by now. If not, you're going to want to pay attention in just a moment."
She holds a finger up, indicating to Gabe to hold his thought while she seemingly moves onto a different topic. This is indicated by her lifting her phone again.
"I've been staying out of everybody's way lately, but would you believe that there are some people who just can't stay out of mine? I know! It caught me off-guard as well. There are actually people out there who have nothing better to do than to talk about me! Okay. I see. I guess I'm a bigger deal than I thought. Certainly, a bigger deal in their heads than I am in my own. Thank you for the compliment."
With a smile on her face that far too flattered to be legit, she leans forward to deliver her gratitude before sitting back again.
"I've just been the talk of the town! The funny thing, though, is that I'm not getting any notifications about it."
Feigning confusion over that, Ruby turns her attention back to her phone and starts to scroll through her Twitter notifications.
"There? Oh, there--no. No notification there. Hm…"
She shakes her head and looks to the camera, continuing to feign a sense of astonishment over this paradox.
"You see, it's real cute that you've got a lot to say about me. It's super flattering that I'm always on your mind. But most of all, it's quite sad that you're so scared of me that you can't even tag me in a single thing that you have to say about me."
Ruby drops the funnies and gets real serious as she stands. Her expression drops any hint of a smile or amusement and she takes a step towards the camera.
"What's the matter? Are you afraid of me? Is the big, bad West Coast Genesis Champion scared of what the South Bay Champion would do to her if I ever got you in the ring?"
That puts a bit of a smile on Ruby's face. She beams with confidence and laughs at the thought of Julianna being scared of her.
"You should be. And Gabe, you can go ahead and listen to this as well since your memory is so bad whenever it comes remembering my name. I am Ruby Lance! I am not just a champion, am the first-ever and only South Bay Champion. So, while Julianna is running around trying to duck me, talking way over there and hoping I don't notice her, I'm standing right over here with no problems."
She motions to Julianna imaginarily in the distance before pointing to the ground under her as to where she's standing. She smiles and shrugs her shoulders to show the zero problems she has plaguing her right now.
"Julianna, I showed you respect when you won that title. All you've done since then is spit in the face of everyone on this roster. Ironic, considering that Gabe has done the exact same thing to this roster from the minute he walked in the door. So, one of you's got a title and the other's coming for mine. That's just great."
Ruby smiles and shakes her head, giving a shrug of the shoulders that seems to imply that she's really not losing any sleep over disrespectful athletes getting titles and opportunities.
"I said it before and I'll say it again, except I tagged you in it. If West Coast Genesis wants to give me a shot at you, Julianna, I have no problem making you a former champion. In the meantime, Gabe has two options. He can either learn my name and show me some respect before I successfully defend my title against him. Or!"
She immediately throws a finger up towards the camera as if she's going to stop Gabe from interrupting her on that one.
"Or he can walk out of Unscripted asking himself and anyone who will give him the time of the day just exactly who it was that beat him up and down that ring to remain the South Bay Champion."
Ruby takes a deep breath and suddenly she's all smiles as she looks into the camera with her bright eyes.
"Have a nice day."
With a little curtsy to close us out, we fade on Ruby walking off-camera to likely do something fun with someone great.
