“Have you ever been in a position where you do absolutely everything right, yet you still lose? You review all the events that took place, going over each and every detail, wondering how the hell you lost. And you realize that you might the right decision every step of the way, and it just wasn’t enough? So what could you have done? What would it have taken for you to have won this particular competition that you lost?
“I was afraid I was going to be in that position after Convergence. Matthew Shields made it his number one priority to destroy me. Makes sense seeing as he is the leader of the Destroyers. That’s what they do. And I look back at the match and I’m told myself that I made the move I should have at every point I made a move. Yet, all it came down to was the fact I climbed the cage faster than him when he started to go for the win and was able to win a fifty-fifty battle on the side of the cage with an improvised kick. I could have easily lost that match. But I didn’t. Perhaps, Shields is going through this. He certainly let his frustrations known later in the show, that’s for sure. I was expecting Shields to not take the fact he lost very well, actually. When you look at the history of his losses in our company, which has undergone a facelift and a trip through a time machine, it’s a basic part of his behavior at this point.
“Something else I was expecting was for someone to get involved at me trying to get to the outside if I did somehow make it out of there alive, whether it would be Kayla or all the Destroyers. And believe me, when I first got to what used to be called Redemption Wrestling, I was prepared to try to fight this battle by myself, granted that was before Jack Tillman joined their ranks. I had banked on Stacy Sterling joining beside me to equal the numbers between me and Kayla before her injury. Their numbers grew and my numbers decreased. Or so I thought, at least.
“There were three people in our locker room that saw what I was doing. They saw what I wanted to accomplish. They saw that I was prepared to let myself be destroyed to fight the group that had terrorized their locker room almost since the beginning. I got on the radar of two of them when I saw that one of them was about to have to take on waves of other teams by herself. I couldn’t allow myself to watch her go through that, especially since two Destroyers were in the match and prepared to break anyone in the match. Her partner was suspended and unable to do anything about it. A chance at tag team glory with a shot against Rebel Ink was on the line. I didn’t want the Tag Team Championship. I wanted to make sure that Honey stood a fighting chance in this match and wasn’t going to be fed the wolves. The moment I stepped in, Alechs and Honey told me that whatever I was doing after that, they would be by my side. They saw my fight and said they wanted to see my goal come to fruition.
“And then there was Jazmyn Rain. She came in with the same goal as me: see bad influences, put them away. She admired the fact I was prepared to do whatever was needed to fight the Destroyers, even appearing as though I was going to have to step into the ring with Shields and Richards by myself. I had no regard to what happened to me, and that was something that these three both admired yet terrified them.
“I didn’t mean to start a stable. It was something that happened organically. These three talented individuals, two of them being our Tag Team Champions and the other being a former World Champion, or I guess Global Champion as the company referred to...I’m rambling. These three amazing people looked at me and simply asked me what was next. They turned to me and said my fight was now their fight. They looked at me like I was some sort of leader, and it wasn’t a role I thought I deserved. It’s why I wanted to name the group the Guardians, because it was based off Rain’s nickname.
“I think people are sleeping on just how talented Jazmyn is. They look at her and see the fact that she started doing it at a later age than most. She’s older yet less experienced than me, but when you look at my resume, it’s scattered here and there. Hers is almost all GCW. This woman accomplished more in a single company than I ever did in. She overcame so many personal traumas in her life that it’s made her a stronger person. And she fights in the ring with that same strength. She’s gone through hell and dislikes seeing anyone else going through it.
“THIS is the type of person who deserves to have people following her into battle, not me. I was just a guy who targeted someone who was on my radar for the way he treated others. Meanwhile, this woman treats people like individuals who are capable of doing anything they set their minds to doing. She calls herself the Guardian Angel, an accurate name. We’re named for her, not the Dropkick Posse or something after me because she’s the example I think people need to follow...that you can overcome whatever the hell is going on in your life and still fight your way to the top and be a decent human being to others around you. The fact she looks to me to lead this charge to the Destroyers is humbling.
“But this upcoming show isn’t about the Destroyers. I’m actually quite thankful I can have just one show where I don’t have to worry about being in the ring with them. Granted, they could still make an appearance during my match, but that’s not something I can control. What I can control, however, pertains to the match I am booked in. And wow, is the ring going to be crowded or what?
“Each of my opponents deserve some air time. I know some people disrespect John Blade and Alicia Hixx. Their record is not good; I’ll be blunt. But they also have more experience tagging with one another than us aside from the 7th Circle. I think experience working with one another for a long time is something people underestimate. You get something of a mind meld with one another where you know what the other one is going to do before they do it. You can’t ignore anyone in the ring, no matter what the talent levels are perceived to be by everyone. I think Blade and Hixx need to be acknowledged and still focused on as an entity in the match. I think circumstances can occur that would allow them to gain victory if the other three teams simply ignored them. We can’t ignore them. And I can’t speak for the rest of the teams, but we will not ignore them.
“But their experience with one another pales to the time spent together by Gunnar Wahl and Karston Daire. These two have been together as a pair since I was still wrestling in EXODUS Pro and was letting Chris Marks live in my spare bedroom. For those of you unfamiliar with the timeline of my career, that was four years ago. I think I’ve read somewhere that they’ve been best friends since before I even graduated high school. Everything I just said about mind meld and knowing what the other is going to do...you can triple that for these two. I watched a few of their matches in West Coast Genesis. This team right here could have a bright future in the tag division if they keep doing what they did there. I think coming up to the big leagues was a good move for their careers. They can test themselves with more experienced competitors and an actual tag division. I’m going to give these two a great taste of what kind of talent New Generation Wrestling has to offer so that perhaps they will get hungry to take themselves to a whole new level they have yet to obtain. They should be taken seriously, and I think they will prove that in this match.
“Alex Jones, it’s been a long time since we’ve stepped into a ring with one another. Last time didn’t exactly end well for either one of us. I walked into the match with a championship and...well, neither of us left with that championship. Things happen. I wasn’t expecting to hold the belt forever. But I feel like neither of us were able to really have a test of skill with one another so I’m hoping to get an opportunity with such a match with so many bodies involved. Perhaps, one of these days, we can get a proper one on one match. I think you showcased that you are just as bit the talent you’ve always been the past few shows. I also think you and your new partner will be a force to be reckoned with and someone my friends, the Young Cubs, need to watch carefully.
“Speaking of your new partner, Avery Miles...we knew this day would come, didn’t we? You have given me one of the best matches I’ve had in the past couple of years. And the best part about our match was that there was no anger or bitterness between us when that first bell rang. It was about you and me and which one of us was the better wrestler. We tore the roof off the place. I could barely fight in the match I had just moments later. You pushed me to my limit in a way that I will always remember. And words can’t express how much I thank you for that match. And I knew our paths would cross again, albeit there are a lot of other people in this match. There are few people in our industry that has your talent, Avery. And there are even fewer people in this industry who I respect as much as you. I’m glad we are in the same locker room once more, my friend. I’m looking forward to watching more Avery Miles matches and perhaps being in one more in the future.
“I’m taking on these three teams with a new ally. We have a purpose and a goal, and we need to get some time in the ring together in matches to get to where we can be prepared to take on that goal. The talent in this match is a high bar for us to see where we are. I believe I have about as talented a partner as I could ask for. And with the right preparation and with the heart that we have, we have just as good a chance to win this match as anyone.”
All of the years, they start to blend
You marry the search, it never ends
If I were a hero in this world of villains
I could have saved you, maybe I could have saved you
We drifted apart as if we never met at all
As if nothing was lost, as if we never met at all
Where are you sleeping now, and do you dream of me at all?
If so, are you dreaming now?
And how does anyone find anyone in this carousel of people?

How does anyone find anyone? I don’t know
I tried to hush the voices in my head, but that’s not all they said
They told me don’t go too far
They said we’re all in the dark
We drifted apart as if we never met at all
As if nothing was lost, as if we never met at all
Where are you sleeping now, and do you dream of me at all?
If so, are you dreaming now?
