Chapter 10
17September 2016
Springfield, Illinois
Age 20
-Have you ever worked an indie show before?
-A Bingo Hall?
-A High School Auditorium?
-Middle of a fair ground at a State Fair?
-Under a circus tent?
-Against former back yard wrestlers?
-Against rookies with only a month training underneath their boots.
-Against veterans who are past their prime and are one bump away from replacing their third hip?
-Have you ever wrestled in front of 20 people?
-10?
-5?
-I have……and it sucks. It sucks and I never want to be in that position ever again.
-For the past Five months I've been working the indie scene to make myself humble. That's Chris’s view of it. Not my idea. This whole experience is to keep my mind open to what other wrestlers are going through. To get better respect from the boys who didn't have a father in the business like I had. To show that I've worked my way up from the bottom to making it to the top one day. To see how it is to work in the indie scene and experience it first hand. Chris wanted me to see how it is to be in these type of environments. To show myself that I don't want to be here. That I want to be in bigger arenas filled with people and face off against other wrestlers that know what they're doing in that ring.
-I only have a few dates left before I can actually going to a wrestling organization that isn't ran out of their parents garage. Luckily enough Chris didn't burn any bridges with any past feds when he was managing Kurt. There's been some push back and questioning since I was trained by Kurt. They love Kurt and all, but they didn't want to deal with someone that had the baggage like Kurt had. Lucky enough, I don't.
-Chris has been able to find a couple of organizations that I can call home. EWC and GOL liked what they saw with my tapes and jumped on the opportunity to work with one of Kurt's students. Rumor has it that NJFC is reopening their doors soon. Mark Storm says that UKWF is a fun venue to be apart of.
-Chris has found one place though that may help me in my training compared to the other ones. And that's Redemption. Found out about this place because Kurt is in a fantasy football league with them. He scouted the place out and said that it would be a perfect match for me. Plenty of talent and plenty of opportunity for me to be a contender.
-Game plan now is to be in as many Feds as possible. I'm still young. I'm still able to recover quickly from injuries. Most importantly, I need the experience inside that ring and in front of a large crowd. I also need the experience against other types of wrestlers. Not your typical Japanese Strong Style or Lucha Style or even British Style. I've trained and wrestled against plenty of those types of styles. I need experience against the gimmick wrestlers. The guys and gals who aren't as good as me but will do anything and say anything to get a win. The ones that will try to outsmart and cheat their way to win. I need to figure out how to beat them.
-So that's why Redemption is on top of that list…..because that garbage heap of an organization is filled with gimmick wrestlers that I'm more than happy to destroy.
