Ruby Lance is in the women's locker room following her work-out. We're also following her shower AND her getting dressed. So, it's not that kind of promo. She's just packing up her things from her locker. Let's not get into the whole why is there a camera person in the women's locker room. That just gets messy. On with the promo!
"You know, it's crazy how the world turns. One minute you're up, the next minute you're down… sort of feels like you'll be down forever when those minutes come around, let me tell you."
The breath that Ruby takes shows us that she's seen her share of downs in life and that they still weigh heavy on this blonde's mind.
"When you're up, though… man! Those feelings are the absolute best. They're literally what makes going out there to the ring worth it. And I'm not even just talking about ups and downs in wrestling. Although, as a wrestler who is talking to you about a wrestling company that I'm a part of, I feel the need to make that known."
As if on cue, she pulls her South Bay Championship from her locker.
"I know what you're thinking. Yes, I bring this to the gym with me. It's probably not the smartest thing I do in life. I mean, if it got stolen out of my locker that would be so messed up. I'd be furious, but who wouldn't be? Still, it's a locker so it's pretty darn safe, I'd say."
She shrugs her shoulders and looks over the championship belt that she holds in front of her in both hands. She can't help but smile as she stares down at the title belt she's now successfully defended twice. One of her hands moves to touch the fancy face plate for a moment before she delicately places the title into her gym bag.
"The point is, I kind of take it everywhere that it's not like really weird. Because walking around the grocery store with it is strange. But I like to keep it with me because I'm proud of it. I'm a little protective of it, actually. I fought hard for it and to keep it."
There's another shrug of the shoulders that says she's not sorry for feeling proud and protective of the South Bay Championship figuratively around her waist.
"Fighting for things is kind of what I do. If I believe in something, I fight for it. Like my best friend Caspian Kace. Now, some of you may have heard rumblings about our friendship and the fact that we had a falling out recently. I'm not going to go into details, because honestly I messed things up there enough. The important part is that we're good again. Or at least on the road to being great again."
She's all smiles now as she closes her now-empty locker. She removes her lock from it, dropping it into a side pocket of her bag.
"My roommate and best friend Jonathan Drake. Yes, I know what you're thinking. How can you have two best friends? Well, I don't want to live in a world where you can't have as many best friends as you want. I've got a lot of people that are better than good friends. Another thing that I fight for. Things were weird with me and Jonathan for a moment. Felt like an eternity. Through no fault of him, of course. He's been a sweetheart like always. The point is, I didn't give up on Cas when things got rough and I didn't give up on Jonathan when things weren't the best."
It's obvious these are some not-so-pleasant memories given the way that Ruby thinks back on them, but she's able to muster through them with a shrug.
"I also didn't give up on Scotty Latimer but that was more him not giving up on me."
I can't even begin to describe the smile that spreads across her face as she mentions the Elite Prince that was recently called up to the Redemption Wrestling roster. Her eyes get a little shine to them before she remembers what she was doing and she shakes it clear, though the smile is a little harder for her to ditch.
"Which is totally my personal life, even more so than my friendships with Cas and Jonathan. But anyway!"
The smile is still there and the more she tries to get rid of it, the bigger it seems to get. She shakes her head and picks up her bag.
"The point I'm trying to make is, I don't give up on things that mean alot to me. I fight for what I want and what I believe in."
She hooks the strap of her bag over her shoulder, shrugging a little as she does.
"Just like when I had to defend my South Bay Championship against Austen and Danni. Like when I had to try and win the South Bay Championship against those two and many others. I fought against the odds, I fought against two incredible friends, and I'll fight alongside those same two incredible friends. Because West Coast Genesis doesn't need to be saved. Best of luck, Messiahs, on your little dream or whatever you want to call it. Like AB says, not going to tell people what to believe in. But I'm not going to validate your beliefs for you. We believe in two completely different things and Saturday when you're across the ring from the South Bay Champion and two insanely talented individuals that I happen to consider best friends of mine… well, you're going to learn exactly who needs to be saved. It's not West Coast Genesis, it's going to be you three."
The South Bay Champion has a little sass in her today! She even gets a little smirk as she dishes that out. I mean, it'd probably be a heck of a lot sassier if she didn't cringe a little bit afterwards at herself.
"I hope you boys know what you're stepping into the ring with. You may not hold any respect for the South Bay Championship, but I'm going to make you respect the South Bay Champion - or at least second guess ever getting in the ring with her again. I hope you boys know what you're encouraging on Saturday. Because you're dealing with a girl who has nothing weighing on her mind anymore except representing my company as the South Bay Champion. And that's not even getting into what you're dealing with when it comes to my friends AB and Danni. If you boys pray to anything, you might want to start."
She does a much better job of looking confident with that one, but probably because she doesn't linger around long enough to feel too sassy about it. She smiles into the camera for all of two seconds before making her way out of the locker room.
