The Mission Never Ends
Opening Thoughts
Jazmyn: GCW’s Resurrection event last year, as I’ve mentioned before, brought me to the biggest rock bottom of my career since the events that drove me to being gone from this business for two years. There was a time where I was just about ready to give up on everything. I thought that maybe things would never get better for me personally considering that for years and years, I was in so much pain from the battles and the demons I had to face outside of the ring. But then I had to stare down a few of those demons in the ring as well. It was quite a trip, I will say that. Defending my freedom against a psychopath that lusted after me and wanted my hand in marriage not to mention was a catalyst in my losing of my only world championship to death, in a ring of fire match, no less, was huge for me. I not only won and got my first bit of revenge for that awful night, but I started to realize that perhaps, things weren’t as hopeless as I thought. However, throughout the journey between Resurrection last year and Resurrection this year, there was one consistent obstacle that always stood in my way…
Utopia.
Utopia was the name of a faction in GCW led by my trainer and former friend, Myra Lynwood. They ran roughshod over GCW for months and I had two rounds against them. The first round, I fought my hardest, even though I was alone. Myra and I would clash to the death in that Seven Stages of Hell match and when I lost, that seemed to be it. Yet, I managed to overcome that and realize how strong I was becoming up to that point. So, the “ascension” so to speak of the Guardian Angel began. I took on a 13-time world champion that had never wanted me in GCW to begin with and I managed to beat her one on one. I faced the embodiment of my old psychological demons and endured a torturous hell in an I Quit match but when Resurrection THIS year came around… there they were again…
Utopia.
Myra and her crew, having dominated for over a year, were the biggest threats to GCW’s sanctity at the time. They were a well-oiled machine, in spite of some in-fighting. On my side, I put together the best team I could and we fought in a four on four elimination match. The odds were against me considering two members of my team weren’t exactly friends of mine. In fact, they used to be friends of Trenton Snow, the man that stole the title from me and who I eventually put to rest in my first match as the “Guardian Angel”. Naturally, considering the journey, on GCW’s grandest stage, it came down to Myra and I. I pulled it off. Utopia was dead and GCW was essentially saved from their tyrannical dominance. And all I can do, in the aftermath of it all, considering the journey I’d been on up to that point, was soak it all in! Unlike last year’s big show, this one would turn out to be one of the happiest nights of my career.
Date: May 14, 2017
Only about an hour after Jazmyn fought and won her four on four elimination match against the dreaded, hated Utopia and essentially caused their disbandment, the North Carolina beauty is wearing a small, sleeveless pink dress as she walks across the locker room to a gym bag that she had left in front of her locker. She’s hiding her joy over the big win she would get in 2017’s version of GCW’s flagship pay-per-view but with overcoming her biggest demon to this point in her redemption journey AND saving GCW in the process, the joy and the sense of accomplishment in her heart is immeasurable. Jazmyn sits down next to her bag and runs her fingers through her slightly curled hair. A light pink lip gloss punctuates her look, indicating that she cleans up quite well after a match. She pulls out a pair of pink high heels from her bag, putting them on her feet. She stands up and takes a deep, relaxing breath, drawing a smile out of her as she straightens her hair a bit over her shoulders.
Voice: Look at you…
A man suddenly walks in the scene and Jazmyn’s eyes light up with happiness at the sight of him. He approaches her and the two exchange a quick kiss.
Jazmyn: You do that enough, Derek! *laughs*
Derek: Hey, only for the most beautiful girl in the world!
The two exchange another quick kiss.
Derek: Speaking of the world, I’m a proud man. My girlfriend saved the world tonight.
Jazmyn: Yeah… something like that!
Jazmyn pauses to wink and laugh before she continues.
Jazmyn: It was such a thrill not only doing that, but getting my first Resurrection win and making up for last year in a huge way. To be able to get my revenge on everyone that played a part in that awful night last year, it’s a freeing feeling. Everything’s happened so fast I’m still, in a way, surprised by it all.
Derek: Don’t be surprised, Jaz! You’ve always had it within you the whole time.
Derek gently grabs her wrists and pulls them toward his chest, leaving Jazmyn to look up at him.
Derek: I knew that from the day that I met you that you always had it in you. All it took was some of the hardest times you’ve ever had to go through for you to see it. It wasn’t easy, but I’ve seen you grow so much over these last few months and I can honestly say that I am the luckiest man in the world to have someone like you in my life.
Jazmyn’s eyes start to well up in some tears of joy.
Derek: Oh come on, you don’t need to cry now! *laughs*
Jazmyn laughs with him as he lets go of her wrists. She smiles through the tears of joy she just wiped away as she responds.
Jazmyn: You know I’m not used to such gushing compliments.
Derek: Please! You deserve them! Like I said, you saved the world tonight… and with a team that on paper, seemed outmatched by Utopia. After everything you’ve managed to do the last few months for GCW, how much more can you give them? What’s left?
Jazmyn: What’s left? Winning back the championship that was torn away from me last year, that’s what’s left!
Voice: Yeah, probably not a good time to talk about that…
Jazmyn turns around and sees a fellow GCW wrestler who appears to have an angry look on his face.
Jazmyn: Tim?
Timothy Myers, one of Jazmyn’s best friends from GCW, looks at her in an annoyed fashion but Jazmyn’s not worried about it too much knowing that the annoyance has nothing to do with her.
Tim: Sorry Jaz. I’m still a bit bitter after the way that title was just stolen from ME two days ago. But, I don’t want to dampen the mood. Great job tonight. It’s about time someone FINALLY put an end to Utopia and all of their nonsense.
Jazmyn: Thanks, Tim! I’m sorry about what happened to you on Friday.
Tim: No worries, I’ll win it back and hell, maybe I’ll defend it against you down the road. But, right now, I’m happy for you considering the hell you went through at the same event last year. Though, to be real, I was a little worried that you’d have too much on your plate.
Jazmyn: Yeah?
Tim: You had a good team, don’t get me wrong. I was just concerned about Nate and Ian.
Derek: Hey, it all worked out for the best, did it not?
Jazmyn: Right! It did! We all put our egos aside in order to make this possible!
Tim: True, but Nate and Ian are still a pair of douchebags!
Derek: You got THAT right!
Tim and Derek high five each other and have a lighter moment to themselves, while Jazmyn rolls her eyes and sighs.
Jazmyn: Okay, so they’re not the most exciting, friendly people in the world, but still…
Tim: Sorry Jaz. I just never trusted them for the life of me and one of them is dating my sister, so that should tell you something.
Voice: Well, this is awkward…
The trio suddenly pause their conversation at the sight of a woman near Jazmyn’s age.
Jazmyn: How much of that did you hear just now, Brook?
Brooklyn Smith is Jazmyn’s best friend in GCW, and not Tim’s sister. She doesn’t appear to be that amused with the conversation that is currently taking place.
Brooklyn: A fair chunk of it. It’s awkward.
Tim: When was the last time you and Ian even did anything together?
Jazmyn: Tim!!!
Brooklyn: Seriously?
Derek: Hey now, let’s not forget the big picture. Utopia’s dead. Can’t we all agree that’s a good thing?
Brooklyn: Oh yeah! Definitely! I’m so relieved that they’re out of the picture now. Thank you Jaz, for doing everything that you could to bring about their demise.
Jazmyn: You’re welcome.
Brooklyn approaches Jazmyn and the two exchange a hug.
Brooklyn: I’ve had a front row seat through all of this and it’s been a roller coaster of a ride. I remember how shattered you were a year ago and how hard it was on all of us. But for you to grow and be able to lead the charge to bring down GCW’s biggest threat? It’s… I’m at a loss for words honestly…
Jazmyn smiles and laughs, lightening up the moment some.
Jazmyn: Thank you. It means so much coming from you.
Brooklyn: Sorry I couldn’t be part of it myself. I had to deal with my own issues.
Jazmyn: It’s okay, you’re still North American champion through it all. I completely understand.
Tim: Right. Well, I better get going. I’m not in that much of a talking mood for obvious reasons and I’d rather not dampen the mood. You were great tonight, Jazmyn. I’m happy for you. I’ll see you guys around.
Tim nods and turns to leave.
Jazmyn: Thank you and hey, don’t be so down about what happened to you on Friday!
Tim: I’ll try not to be!
Timothy Myers walks out of the room at this point.
Jazmyn: I don’t think tensions in GCW are going to disappear just because Utopia is gone.
Jazmyn sighs, lamenting the reality a bit.
Jazmyn: Especially now that we’ve got a cancer of a Global Champion…
Derek: I wouldn’t worry so much about that right now. If there’s anyone that can dethrone her, you’re definitely more than capable of doing so.
Brooklyn: Yeah Jaz, no need to worry. What you’ve done tonight is worth celebrating and hey, this is about as perfect as a night as you can get: save the world, spend time with a loved one, celebrate with a dinner, a late night movie and maybe, just maybe….
Jazmyn: Oh god, Brook! Don’t go THERE!
Jazmyn laughs and rolls her eyes.
Derek: Hey, I wouldn’t mind going there tonight!
Jazmyn playfully elbows Derek in the ribs.
Derek: Ow!
Brooklyn: I was just suggesting… that’s all!
Brooklyn winks as Jazmyn rolls her eyes in a playful manner.
Jazmyn: I know this for a fact! We saved GCW tonight, now we party. Where things go from here? God only knows but one thing I know for sure is that in GCW and in this business, there’s always going to be some sort of evil, some sort of threat and some sort of tyranny and while we may never fully eliminate the evils of our business, we’ll always do our best to contain them. So… we’ll be ready for whatever comes next. In the meantime though, Derek and I have some celebrating to do!
Brooklyn: Have fun and be safe tonight, okay?
Jazmyn: We’ll be alright!
The two best friends exchange another hug before Jazmyn and Derek leave the locker room. Walking down the hallway, the two continue their conversation.
Derek: Some night, huh?
Jazmyn: Yeah. Doing what I do is never easy, but that’s what makes the mission so worth it.
Derek: I just got one thing to ask: is there any way this night can get better?
The two are interrupted once more along this walk down the hallway by a courier who has an envelope in his hand.
Courier: Hello! I’m looking for a Jazmyn Rain. Do you know where I can find her?
Jazmyn: You’re speaking to her. Is that for me?
The courier hands Jazmyn the envelope before nodding, turning and leaving. Jazmyn curiously opens the envelope and pulls out a letter inside. She reads the letter to herself and toward the end of her reading, a bright smile comes across her face.
Jazmyn: Derek, this night just DID get better!
Derek: Huh? What is it?
Jazmyn: Redemption Wrestling wants to talk to me… about signing with them.
Derek: What? Are you serious? That’s awesome!
Jazmyn: Looks like I’ve got another mission ahead of me!
Derek wraps an arm around Jazmyn and pulls her in to plant a kiss on the cheek. From there, the two hold hands as they walk down the hallway together before leaving the arena and subsequently, GCW’s latest edition of their flagship Resurrection event.
Closing Thoughts
Jazmyn: That was definitely a night I am never going to forget. I admit, I had been casually observing the proceedings of Redemption Wrestling for a bit leading up to that point, but never in my wildest imagination did I think that what I’ve been doing in GCW would attract their attention to the point where they actually wanted to talk to me and sign me. Of course, the rest is history. Here I am now! I know GCW and Redemption are two completely different companies with differing competition, but I know two things on the contrary to what my initial doubters may feel about me.
One, on any given night, I can work with ANYONE to achieve a common goal and that’s precisely what Trixie and I are going to do at One Night Only.
And two, if I can bring down GCW’s biggest threats and save it from its own demons, I can do the same here in Redemption as well.
Big words from someone who just arrived in the company, I know that. But there was a time when people felt like I had no business in this industry at all. When I first started I was “too old” to begin wrestling training. I’ve learned in the last year that I am capable of overcoming anything that stands in front of me and here in Redemption, that’s not going to change a bit. That being said?
My mission never ends!
And you can bet that when it’s all said and done, I’ll keep accomplishing it no matter what!
