“How many times is this going to happen, Yujiro?” Cammy Fujiwara asked as she took a seat next to her husband on the couch.
Her eyes wandered over and took stock of him. A number of cuts and scrapes were sporadically plastered across his neck and face. Cammy shook her head in disgust. Her disdain was not aimed at Adrien or her husband—it was at their attackers. As one could imagine, she hadn’t placed Matthews or Richards poster in her office at work.
Yujiro didn’t exactly know how to answer her question. No answer that he could have given would have suffice enough. He elected to put his arm around his wife instead. After kissing her on the forehead, he leaned back a bit. This seemed to ease Cammy’s mind, if ever so slightly. She snuggled into him a bit more.
“You know, you were wrestling back when we first met. So, I’ve watched you wrestle a shit load of times.” Cammy paused and let out a small sigh. “It hard to watch you out there getting beat up, and that’s when you are winning. It’s even more difficult to watch you get your shit pushed in because of people’s foolish jealousy.”
“You’ve never shared those impressions with me, but I have picked up on them when you and I have watched matches back together.” He drew her in even closer with his arm. “The general pain that is inflicted upon me in a match, I cannot apologize for. It is a combat sport; it is what we are trained to do. And I’m pretty good at dishing it back, but of course.” He threw in a small laugh, hoping lighten the mood a bit. “However, I will apologize to you for the actions of the others. I am sorry you had to be subjected to viewing such terrible things, my love.
“Professional wrestling can be grand and wondrous, as you know and have seen first hand many times. It can help bring out the best in people. However…” He paused. “Professional wrestling can also bring out the worst in people as well. It is a double-edged sword to be wielded with extreme caution.”
“They wouldn’t be fucking with you if they knew the old Yujiro Fujiwara,” Cammy said.
“You are correct,” replied Yujiro. “Although, my dearest Cammy was not too fond of that version of Yujiro Fujiwara either.”
“Shut it,” Cammy said as she punched Yujiro in the arm. However, she then remembers how her got attacked at the end of the match and swiftly felt remorseful. “Shit, sorry babe.”
“Stop it. You’re fine.” Yujiro let out another small laugh. “Will shall take a lot more than that to do me in for good. But that’s not to say your strikes are not impactful.”
“Hush,” she playfully responded. “I hate you sometimes.”
“That would be false, dear. You are a terrible liar.”
“Blah.”
The two sat in silence for a bit as they enjoyed each other's presence.
“After this next Glory, can we go on a trip? Just you and me. You deserve a brief vacation.”
“That sounds like a wonderful idea. You’ll pick the place.”
“Mhm!
“But hey…” Cammy turned in Yujiro’s direction. “Next time they do that shit to you, fuck em’ up. That’s me giving you permission.”
―――――――
Good evening everyone.
It has been a number of months since I’ve returned to in ring action. Therefore, most of you all have heard the sound of my voice. I have conducted audio log after audio log. Hell, most of you are probably sick of hearing it. However, on the of chance that one special fan out there doesn’t know who I am, please allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Yujiro Fujiwara.
I am a man who has toured the United States and Japan wrestling. I am a man who has sent countless hours putting in work at the gym. And I am your Redemption Wrestling Heavyweight Champion, but of course.
Now, let’s get down to business.
Mr. Cochrane and I did battle with Ms. Coda and Ms. Richards on the last edition of Glory. It should have been a match for the ages. It should have been a beautiful showcase of talent—how many times do four of the most unique wrestlers get a chance to share the ring together? It should have been a special treat for all the Redemption Wrestling fans out there.
But alas, I suppose that wasn’t meant to be…
The Destroyers, is that what I am to refer to your collective unit as? Cute. Regardless, let me ask you all something—are we, the people of Redemption, supposed to fear you all? Is that why you attacked Alex Jones? Is that why you attacked myself and Mr. Cochrane? Is that the purpose and motivation behind all these shenanigans and such?
Or perhaps these little attacks are meant to be a force of power, a show of dominance?
If so, I’ll respond with the following. Ms. Coda, I do not fear you. Ms. Richards, I do not fear you. Mr. Shields, I do not fear you.
I’ve stated this fact many, many times. However, I feel it bares repeating. I did not capture the Redemption Heavyweight Championship because I wanted to gloat and throw it in peoples face. Nor did I want win it because I wanted to prove my dominance. I was motivated to prove that I could defeat Mr. Shields, which I’d done on several occasions before WrestleForce. I was motivated to show the world just what type of warrior I am. Nonetheless, and most importantly, I wanted to give back to the fans that have supported Redemption from the beginning. They deserved more than a demented ruffian larping about. And, they deserve more than a pack of feral wolves running about doing whatever they please.
No matter what ruckus you three attempt to bring, I shall stand tall. No matter what you all may do, I shall stand steadfast.
And please know this—I shall remember the beat down you two administered on me. Every punch and kick will be ingrained in my brain. And when the time is right, it shall returned upon you ten fold. It happened to Mr. Chase and Mr. Shields already.
Moving on…
Johnny Maverick good evening sir. It would appear that you are set to be my dance partner at One Night Only. This match up between the two of us was announced many moons ago on social media. And since then, the fans have been anticipating this match. I’ve received many emails detailing how excited people are to view us do battle.
I am a fairly distinguished man, Mr. Maverick. Two world championships and heavyweight championship—some people cannot even dream of having such a career. But you sir? Hmm, you are most distinguished, aren’t you sir? You are a man of many accomplishments. If I’m not mistaken, I counted about twenty-three championship reigns spanning over multiple high profile promotions...
A most distinguished man indeed.
Some people may overlook those accomplishments Mr. Maverick. I am not one to do that. Success can be hard to come by in the this sport, so those accomplishments deserved to be acknowledged and respected.
Even still, I cannot allow the heft and weight of those accomplishments to bog me down. I fully understand that you are distinguished. I fully understand how lethal you can be in the ring. However, that shall not deter me from bringing the fight to you, good sir. I’m just as lethal as you. And I’m just as much of a warrior as you, if not more.
I suspect this battle will be a mighty clash of wills. Not many are afforded a shot at the Redemption Heavyweight Championship—you’ll be fighting with all your might to take it back home with you. Conversely, not many people are afforded a chance to defend the Redemption Heavyweight Championship l have been. I’ll be fighting to make sure that this is best and most honorable reign the fans have witnessed.
...I wonder which will shall prevail?
