*Avery Miles III is running the ropes inside of the ring. He is far from a rookie, but he trains hard like he is just learning regardless. He pushes hard as he breathes heavily. He ducks clotheslines as if they were incoming, and even uses the ropes to springboard and hits a backflip. He stops for a second, takes a deep breath, and continues to workout inside of the ring. He finally stops in the corner with both hands up on the top ropes. He drips sweat, but he looks right at home.*
“The last month I have gone from unemployed to being zero and two here in Redemption Wrestling. A loss, no matter how legitimate it was, to Mark Storm to open things at Zero Hour and then last week losing a tag match in a three on three match. Unfortunately, Angel had to take some time away leaving The Pride down to Trixie and myself. But that is fine; we will recruit and we will gain strength yet again. Trixie got herself a Genesis title shot, and I am facing the two and zero Giovanna Mancini.
Giovanna has quite a bit in similarities with Mark Storm. She likes to fight dirty; like to cheat. I will be ready for it. I will be diligent. And I WILL make my first win here in Redemption Wrestling. I want a title shot, but I need to EARN my way. Gio has made a solid claim, and beating her will go a long way to better my own shots. Matthew Shields has been a force to be reckoned with so far, and I will need to step up my own game to challenge him.
I admit that I’ve been rusty so far. I was at my peak, taking Gavin Grimes to task just before NGW closed. I was hitting my stride. And it is obvious that my time off has screwed me over. But that is the end of it. It is MY time to remind everyone why I was captain of the NGW Rising Stars. Why I was a NGW Tag Team Champion and Marquee Champion. And don’t forget, I also beat Jenson Idol to become IPW Heritage Champion before the fed closed. I know that I still have a lot to prove, but it is time that I begin to emerge from the rest of the roster.”
*Avery reaches underneath the bottom turnbuckle and grabs a bottle of Gatorade, and drinks down about a third of it. He wipes his mouth, caps the bottle, and places it back under the bottom turnbuckle.*
“I’ve got my fair share of shit going on; Taylor and I are expecting, I am getting this school running, plus I am helping to maintain one of my trainers from afar in his quest to better himself and his own skills. But that does not mean I’ve lost my focus. After two matches, I feel better than ever. I am getting back into the groove and I am ready for the challenge ahead of me. I am not stupid, I know that Gio brought it in Alpha Rising. My girl, Tay, knows what sort of tactics she brings to the table. But if I remember correctly, it was Trixie that slapped the taste out of her mouth. Wasn’t it?”
*Avery laughs and rubs his own cheek.*
“I’ve been called a bully, and people attempted to bring me into a different light. Am I passionate about my career and this industry? Hell yes, I am. Am I willing to defend myself or those close to me if they are being threatened? Definitely. And will I ever allow anyone to walk all over me?”
*He shakes his head ‘no’.*
“Never. Gavin Grimes cannot do that. Sasha Foote cannot do that. Not even Jessica or Zachary Sears can do that. I’ve moved on from anyone that tries to make me into something that I am not.I only bring up those names because they are the people that had issues with me. Am I still holding onto the grudge? Far from it. I have a beautiful girlfriend, a beautiful daughter, and babies on the way. I need to move on from those sorts of things and focus on what really matters. Family.”
*Avery nods slowly.*
“Let me address the Jersey Princess herself. I respect anyone with a passion for this sport. Anyone that is willing to put their own body on the line. But at the same time, you seem to cheapen the sport with cheap tactics and cheap wins. I know that you are not a fan of my girlfriend. I am sure that you will hit me up with name calling like her being an ex-stripper or a “busted bitch”, whatever that is. Use your little insults, because they are meaningless. And I am going to be ready for the moment that you pull out some dirty tactics. Low blows. Eye pokes. Or even brass knuckles. It is going to take much more to take me down, Gio. This week? This is my time to shine. And it is going to come at your expense. Sunday Night Glory. The stage is set, Princess. You won’t be the first spoiled brat that I’ve had to deal with. I will be seeing you in OKC.”
*Avery breathes in deep, and heads back into the middle of the ring. He begins to run the ropes again, working on his stamina. Some tumbles, and a few flips. Avery Miles III is looking like the AM3 that we knew in NGW. He seems agile, quick, and happy. It might have been some time coming, but the time of Avery Miles is about to come to fruition and the rest of the roster should be on notice.*

*We open inside of the attic of Avery and Taylor. She is going through some old stuff looking for an old box of baby clothes. Downstairs, Katherine is watching Brooklyn as Avery drives back from a day at the wrestling school in San Diego. Brooklyn immediately gets up from her toys on the lawn to run to the passenger door of her Daddy’s car, unable to contain her excitement at seeing him. Not far behind her is Katherine Miles. She smiles at her son.*
“Another long day?”
“Yes. The drive was long today. There were plenty of accidents, ugh.”
*He smiles as Brooklyn jumps up into his arms*
“Oh I missed you too baby girl!”
*He showers Brooklyn with kisses.*
“Thanks mom. Where is Tay?”
“She's gone up to the attic. One of her friends from her Mommy class gave her some old clothes and she thought maybe the movers moved it up there. I stayed behind to play with Brooke.”
“Okay. Let me go check on her, and then I will let you get going if you are okay with that.”
*Avery hands Brooklyn off to his mom as Avery kisses Katherine on the cheek. He heads inside and upstairs. He cautiously announces himself*
“Taylor… you up here babe?”
*Her voice hits him even though with all the boxes he’s yet to see her among them*
“Yeah...”
*She sounds distracted. He continues up the stairs and sees basically what amounts to a cardboard box fort*
“Princess Taylor! Princess Taylor!”
*Avery jokes as he moves a couple of boxes, seeing her plopped down on the floor. In front of her are several open boxes, paper and mementos scattered on the floor and beside her he can't help noticing the box his mom said she'd originally been after marked, ‘Baby Clothes’ which is still sealed.*
“Sorry Ave, I thought that when they foreclosed they cleaned out all our old stuff but do you know what these boxes are?”
*She looks over her shoulder up at him. He looks closer, and down at Taylor.*
“Is that- is that your stuff from when you lived here?”
*He seems concerned. She nods.*
“More specifically, my dad's old papers. I guess my moth... Cecila emptied his filing cabinets and desk in an attempt to save him from being indicted and hid them up here. This attic door was kinda hidden in the spare room closet right? They probably didn't even check up here. I even forgot until the movers asked if I wanted anything up here.”
*Avery squats down on the floor next to her. He puts a hand around her to console her.*
“I’m sorry babe. Are you okay?”
*He rubs her back.*
“Why don’t we grab the baby clothes and go on downstairs?”
“I’m fine... I was hoping that maybe... there would be something about Rachel in here.”
*She bites her inside cheek and points to a large pile of discarded paper, on top Avery can see utility bills marked past due, a couple old stamps and a rusted letter opener.*
“Why don’t we take this box of papers downstairs. You and I can sit and go through it on the dining table. Throw away what we don’t need. And maybe find something of importance hopefully.”
*Avery smiles at her. He places a hand on her arm.*
“Please babe. You need to be resting. And not getting stressed. Maybe I can contact that detective friend of mine to look into your history as well. If it means that much to you, we can do it.”
*She sighs.*
“I know you're going to be over cautious Ave. I get it, you don't want to jinx anything but I am almost 12 weeks now. The risk is lower. You saw the babies on the ultrasound. They're doing good. Strong fighters like you.”
*She stands, dusting off her butt before leaning into him to kiss him sweetly. He stands up and grabs her arms, wrapping them around his neck.*
“You know I just care. And worry. And love you.”
*He places his hand on her belly.*
“And my babies.”
*He smiles at her, reaches down and grabs the box.*
“I am home. Whatever you need, I am here. I mean it. I am not babying you. I just want to make sure that you are taken care of.”
*She nods and leans down to pick up her pile of papers she was looking for when a name on a contract catches her eye. She takes it in her hands and starts to smile.*
“Avery... my good luck charm. This is it. It's a contract. My birth mother, is Rachel Burke.”
*Avery smiles.*
“Rachel Burke. Let me get a copy of this to my friend, and we will get all of the information that we can on her. Okay? But for now… you. Me. Brooklyn. Lunch?”
*Taylor smiles, nodding before letting out a huge yawn. Avery takes the box along with the paperwork as they head downstairs ready to enjoy a great family lunch.*
