Avery's mother is half Mexican and half American, making Avery one quarter Mexican. He embraces some of the lucha style of wrestling as well as the technician that was his grandfather. He shied away from wrestling not following in the footsteps of his family which included ranching, but after getting kicked out of college and failing to keep out of trouble Avery had trained for years. New Generation Wrestling was his first real test. He was married to his high school sweetheart Zoe until she was killed in a hit and run, carrying an unborn child. This tragic accident weighed heavily on Avery especially as it happened during the Holidays of 2015. Having to move on with his life, Avery focused on his in-ring talents and rose to prominence in several companies. He has won several championships but as his most recent run in Redemption Wrestling ended, things soured and Avery became a shell of who he once was.
Avery rehabbed his injury and for a short time returned to GOL. He also tried his hand in WWH and UCI, but none of them felt like home. NGW was and is his home, and continues to be. In his personal life, he and Serenity Miles (nee Wilson) decided to get married after a short time together as everything just felt right. They expect their first child in late spring of 2018.
