Devlin Scott’s phone rings.
Devlin: Hello?
It is Alechs Aurelio on the other end.
Alechs: Devlin. It’s Alechs.
Devlin: Hey. What happened?
Alechs: It’s a long story. But I need help. I need bail. I don’t want to freak my ma out. And I know that Honey would freak out and try to get her dads involved. Can you please help? I will pay you back.
Devlin pauses.
Devlin: Are the charges true?
Alechs: Well.
Devlin: What happened?
Alechs: He’s only seventeen.
Alechs begins to breakdown on the phone as he looks around to make sure that no one is around.
Devlin: Say no more. You will have to spend the night in there. In the morning, I will have you out. I will personally be there. Say nothing. My lawyers will handle it all.
Alechs: Okay. Thanks Dev.
Devlin: Don’t think me. You know you will have to fess up about-
Alechs: No! I cannot. He has a lot in front of him.
Devlin: And you have a lot to lose.
Alechs: Let me deal with that, please.
Devlin: I understand.
The two hang up the phone as Alechs is escorted to the holding cell for his overnight stay. The next morning he wakes up.
Officer: Aurelio. Alechs. You’ve posted bond.
Alechs wakes up, the night definitely took a toll on him. As he exits the cell, he is joined by a man in a suit.
Man: Alechs. I am Jerry Barnes. I am your lawyer. Don’t say anything. Just follow the officers.
The guard leads Alechs to a desk where he collects his things.
Jerry: Your truck was impounded. But Mr. Scott has passed along both the bail money and the money to get the truck out.
Alechs nods. The guard pulls out a plastic baggy and hands Alechs his wallet, keys, sunglasses. And his clothes. The lawyers walks with Alechs and the guard to a changing area as Alechs get changed back into his clothes.
Jerry: This way.
Alechs follows him as Alechs signed a few documents and they exit the police station.
Jerry: So you have a court date in two weeks back here. We are pleading guilty, and you will likely get a fine, community service, and probation for a first time. You identified to the office immediately. You cooperated. And I can argue that you are an upstanding young man that is trying not to be a product of his environment.
Alechs: What do you mean-
Jerry: And drop the temper. Immediately. You will need to be best on your behavior.
Jerry checks the time on his watch.
Jerry: Mr. Scott will be landing any minute. You will be driven to your truck at the impound lot by a car.
He points out a black Town Car.
Jerry: Get your truck. Meet Mr. Scott at the airport. You will both need to discuss how to address this with your high profile career. And as I understand, you are to be in Washington D.C. this Sunday, so the courts have been made aware of that already. Make sure to be there, and on your best behavior. Here is my card. And I will see you in two weeks. Okay?
Alechs nod.
Alechs: Thank you.
Jerry: Don’t thank me. Thank Devlin.
Alechs nods and shakes Jerry’s hand. He heads off into the town car as it takes Alechs off towards the impound lot.
