INT. HAL'S PAL'S PLACE - JUNE 4TH, 2012.
A bell rings in the diner as a foursome group enter it. There's a very tall fourteen year old with quite a little bit of acne on his cheeks and braces on but athletically built with curly hair. He's around 6'1" and he wears a purple varsity with a big C on it and an eagle pocking out. In front of him is a brunette girl, around 5'4" with her hair French-braided and wearing a beaded bracelet on either hand as well as a beach shell on a black string as a necklace, immediately unzipping her black jacket to show off her movie poster on a t-shirt this one Disney's Brave. After they enter and the tall boy holds the door open, a shorter male, 5'9" steps in, a little on the chubby side with a full thick head of hair gelled up with a pair of black frame glasses on with his trusty batman belt buckle holding up his black jeans and a long blue t-shirt on. Lastly coming in is Honey, the shortest of the group in her
HONEY:
“I loved that movie!”
“I loved that movie!”
The first of many viewings for Honey who really connected with the character, the story of Brave. About a father overly protective of his daughter and making decisions for her. Defying and being her own person while reconnecting with her mother whom she fell out with. Viewing the movie with friends, Honey wasn't at all withdrawn from the cinematic experience. Ending the movie with the above half of her popcorn bucket full as she didn't eat, fully captivated by the story.
Felicia:
"I really liked it to. You know Pixar completely re-did their animation script for that movie, right?"

HONEY:
“I didn't, but I think I will go as Merida for Halloween this year.”
“I didn't, but I think I will go as Merida for Halloween this year.”
Honey smiles looking at the menu she practically knew off by heart with a smile. Opposite her was the boy in a long blue t-shirt, furrowing his brow behind his glasses.
Tony:
"We were going to go as the Batman family. Batman, yo. Felicia Robin, Honey Bat-Girl and Rich, of course, Alfred."

The tallest member of the group, looks sideways at Tony with the utmost disdain expression and clicks his tongue before speaking.
Richard:
"Er, no, I'll be Robin."
"Er, no, I'll be Robin."

Tony:
(Snapping back)
"Batman is taller than Robin, so you can't."
(Snapping back)
"Batman is taller than Robin, so you can't."
Toby and Richard turn their heads to look at each other as they begin to engage in another one of their silly squabbles that Honey had little to no interest in but didn't truly appreciate them arguing, or as Honey knew they'd correct her with the fact they were discussing. Honey takes it on the chin, sitting silently slightly kicking her feet replaying the movie in her head.
Richard:
"Guy, my name is Richard, Dick Grayson."
"Guy, my name is Richard, Dick Grayson."
Honey finally takes the step to lean into Felicia in the booth and put a hand up to cover her mouth from the boys. Her brown eyes lock with Felicia's.
HONEY:
(WHISPERING TO FELICIA)
“What's happening?”
(WHISPERING TO FELICIA)
“What's happening?”
Felicia just pulls an unamused face at their argument.
Felicia:
"Silly boys arguing about silly things."
"Silly boys arguing about silly things."
Honey pats the table and then looks right towards Tony sitting diagonally across from her.
HONEY:
“Tony, I want to go as Merida for, like, Halloween.”
“Tony, I want to go as Merida for, like, Halloween.”
Tony, already goes into a funny mood. A playful one by looking at Honey with puppy dog eyes, playing up the poor boy act. Honey chortles at it at first and then sees his sparkling blue eyes all sad.
Tony:
(Dramatically quivering his lip)
"But Honey"
(Dramatically quivering his lip)
"But Honey"
Felicia steps in to save the day as she butts in.
Felicia:
"We never get our costumes in sync anyway. Last year Richard went as Doctor Who, you went as Batman Sherlock Holmes, I went as Lara Croft and Honey went as Dumbledore. Nothing in common."
"We never get our costumes in sync anyway. Last year Richard went as Doctor Who, you went as Batman Sherlock Holmes, I went as Lara Croft and Honey went as Dumbledore. Nothing in common."
Richard:
"Actually they're all English pop culture characters so…you know, we got something right."
"Actually they're all English pop culture characters so…you know, we got something right."
Richard says with a shrug and an unimpressed purse of his lips causing Felicia to shoot him just a look with a clear "shut it" expression. Honey, however, notices the owner of the shop come out from the back, the door swinging back and forth after he comes in with a notepad and pen not in his hand but in his little pouch on his apron.
HONEY:
“Hi Hal.”
“Hi Hal.”
Hal rests his hand on the booth. A man in his nearly late fourties with just a hint of a receding hairline. His hair a gorgeous fawn colour and slicked back with his fingers slightly yellow on the tips from years of rolling cigarettes.
Hal:
"If it isn't you four, out of school now for the summer?"
"If it isn't you four, out of school now for the summer?"
HAL

Honey gives him a big, frantic nod and packs up the menus into a neat stack of four while talking.
HONEY:
“MMhmm! We're going to have the best summer ever before we start high school.”
“MMhmm! We're going to have the best summer ever before we start high school.”
Felicia:
"Thought we'd celebrate with a round of milkshakes."
"Thought we'd celebrate with a round of milkshakes."
Honey and Felicia touch the tips of their index fingers, a high five they did since the merry age of eight. Hal's heart warms, clearly knowing they always came by for milkshakes.
Hal:
"I won't say no to that. So let me see if I have it right."
"I won't say no to that. So let me see if I have it right."
Hal pushes off the booth and Honey watches him take his pen out and notepad and point not to her, but to Tony with the tip on the back of the pen.
Hal:
"Mint Milkshake for Tony with the bbq beef burger."
"Mint Milkshake for Tony with the bbq beef burger."
Tony's lip raises slightly with a lower of one brow to nod as cool as he can, gleeful of his order and Hal's memory of his usual order.
Tony:
"Yeah buddy."
"Yeah buddy."
Tony says slapping the table with his hand for emphasis and Hal scribbles it down. Hal now points the pen a little lower to Richard sitting beside Tony whom was opposite Honey. It's clearly a tease as he shoots the pen straight to Felicia who gives him a tiny little laugh and a wave by moving her fingers up and down.
Hal:
"A butterscotch for Felicity with her usual curly fries. Richard banana with a slice of pie of the day and Honey, strawberry with some chocolate chip pancakes."
"A butterscotch for Felicity with her usual curly fries. Richard banana with a slice of pie of the day and Honey, strawberry with some chocolate chip pancakes."
Honey nods, licking her lips as she hadn't had her popcorn and a definite rumble in her stomach as Hal writes down the girls orders with gusto as well as Richard's.
HONEY:
“That's right! Thank you.”
“That's right! Thank you.”
Hal:
"No trouble. Coming right up."
"No trouble. Coming right up."
Tony:
"Thanks man."
"Thanks man."
Hal takes his leave as his shoe squeaks on the clean floor before he heads through the door that flops back and forth, slowing down to come to a halt. Felicia gathers everyone's attention by leaning in.
Felicia:
"So, Gang. Just a quirky thought here, but we're all fourteen now, we can work."
"So, Gang. Just a quirky thought here, but we're all fourteen now, we can work."
Honey nods and holds Felicia's arm with hers to squeeze it.
HONEY:
“We can?”
“We can?”
Honey of course had been fed the line she would work upon graduating from high school. Richard sits back in the booth not feeling the world's pressure on him.
Richard:
"I'm going to work in my dad's shop, don't know about you guys."
"I'm going to work in my dad's shop, don't know about you guys."
Felicia looks at Honey and then back at the boys before looking back at Honey as she speaks.
Felicia:
"Me and Honey were going to try and get jobs in the kids club."
"Me and Honey were going to try and get jobs in the kids club."
Honey happily smiles, fully agreed to it and turns to Tony and Richard to chime in.
HONEY:
“Yep! Because-”
“Yep! Because-”
Tony:
"McDonalds guys. Seriously, I got a good word that you they're desperate for staff and you can have the grub on discount, I mean, what?"
"McDonalds guys. Seriously, I got a good word that you they're desperate for staff and you can have the grub on discount, I mean, what?"
A moot question as Tony does a mind blown hand gesture with Felicia looking at him quite unamused.
Felicia:
"I think I'd prefer to work for the Kids club."
"I think I'd prefer to work for the Kids club."
Felicia says in a tone to let Tony know she certainly wasn't going to work in the fast food restaurant if only he could read the hint. He couldn't.
HONEY:
“We even have a whole plan set up. Felicia, like, is going to do the storytime because she's an excellent reader. I can handle the snacks.”
“We even have a whole plan set up. Felicia, like, is going to do the storytime because she's an excellent reader. I can handle the snacks.”
Honey says as the girls go to do their second high five, raising their index fingers to each other when Tony quickly snaps in with a comment.
Tony:
"If you don't eat them first."
"If you don't eat them first."
Tony and Richard do a 'no-look' high five together. Felicia pulls her hand away as she hears Honey's stomach slightly bubble away with hunger. Honey holds her hands over her belly and looks to the kitchen, the small window she could see Hal working on his own, busy grilling a burger while pancakes were frying away.
Felicia:
"Little fact, guys. Honey didn't eat her popcorn."
"Little fact, guys. Honey didn't eat her popcorn."
Honey is immediately brought out of her concentration on Hal cooking, something she could focus on a lot longer, back to the table and the group do look shocked.
Richard:
"Yeah, why was that Honey?"
"Yeah, why was that Honey?"
Richard says seeing it quite out of the ordinary little Honey not eating some sugar sweet popcorn. Tony actually pays a little interest, being able to see that as uncharacteristically Honey.
Tony:
"Everything ok?"
"Everything ok?"
Honey looks with her eyes to Felicia, then Tony and finally Richard. She quickly perks up and smiles to them with a furrowed brow as if it was no big deal.
HONEY:
“Yep! I just really liked that movie so much, I forgot to eat it.”
“Yep! I just really liked that movie so much, I forgot to eat it.”
Honey shrugs as the three of them don't and say in complete and unrehearsed unison.
Felicia: & Richard: & Tony:
"Forgot to Eat?"
"Forgot to Eat?"
Honey chortles at their comments, furrowing her brow again and shrugging and her eyes wander between all her friends.
HONEY:
“It was no biggie, like, I just was super interested in the movie. Like, the story just made me watch and forget about the rumble in my stomach…no…biggie?”
“It was no biggie, like, I just was super interested in the movie. Like, the story just made me watch and forget about the rumble in my stomach…no…biggie?”
Honey says with a small turn of her head to look to Felicia for approval.
Felicia:
"About a ginger haired girl?"
"About a ginger haired girl?"
Felicia says leaning on her hand with her elbow on the table, drumming her fingers on her temple highly suspicious of Honey's lack of appetite and reason. Richard leans in and Tony seems mildly interested.
HONEY:
“No! Um…yes, maybe, like, I thought the way Merida was all annoyed with her mom and her dad always wanted him to do the stuff how it was, like, supposed to be and stuff. And then she becomes best friends with her mom and she also has little brothers to look after too. She's a real hero and doesn't, like she's normal too, not all pretty. Like me.”

Tony:
"O.k?"
"O.k?"
Tony says looking to Richard very confused while Felicia has immediately grasped the undertone of what Honey was saying. Honey looks a little guarded to Tony's comments and then feels Felicia hold her hand supportively as she looks right to Tony opposite her with a sheer friendly scowl.
Felicia:
"He said not understanding that Honey misses her mom and wants siblings"
"He said not understanding that Honey misses her mom and wants siblings"
Tony has the "lightbulb gone off expression" as Richard looks towards her with a smidge of sympathy. Tony, however, chimes right back to Felicia with a clear body language of "I'm Mr. Right".
Tony:
"I knew what she was talking about, Fel."
"I knew what she was talking about, Fel."
Richard cuts off any rebuttal and speaks right to Honey, showing his clear interest (and investment in talking to Honey prior about her mom) in the situation.
Richard:
"How is your mom? Wasn't she coming over for a week in the summer?"
"How is your mom? Wasn't she coming over for a week in the summer?"
HONEY:
“Um, not really.”
“Um, not really.”
Honey roots out of her backpack a stack of letters she kept in her folder, waterproof and locking, they were very precious to her and she kept them everywhere but pulls out the top letter.
HONEY:
“My mom was in Bangladesh doing some, like, filming for a super serious drama movie that got cancelled because, I think the movie people just didn't have any more money so she was going to come to see me but then, she had to go see a super important festival in Finland, like super-secret too.”

Honey smiles and hugs her letter, the closest thing to a mother's love she had, she treasured like gold and made sure was with her at all times as if her mother was looking over her at all times.
HONEY:
“My mom is so super. She goes all over the world.”
“My mom is so super. She goes all over the world.”
Tony slightly cringes with his lip and brow lowering, almost closing one eye. Purely out of unrooted jealousy of Honey's stories of her mother who travels the world compared to his own mother.
Tony:
"Beats my mom, she's just a boring dentist."
"Beats my mom, she's just a boring dentist."
Felicia chuckles only slightly as Tony finishes his quick snap back at Honey, just as Hal brings over the chocolate chip pancakes. He places the plate in front of Honey who goes wide eyed at the hot, fluffy deliciousness ahead of her and scrambles to get her fork and knife out of the napkin.
Richard:
"Who Honey will be seeing after she eats those pancakes."
"Who Honey will be seeing after she eats those pancakes."
Honey stops with pursed lip smile. Tony and Felicia can't help but crack a chuckle at the dry humour comment and Honey's cheeks light up, shoulders squeezing together as she flashes pearly white teeth with a wide smile before commencing the great destruction of the triple stacked pancakes.
