Scene 001
Indio Family Health Center
October 4th, 2016
OFF CAMERA
“Taylor Devereaux?”
*Taylor hears her name called for her appointment and sets down the magazine she was reading. Avery was late. It was very unusual for him, but she stands following the nurse into an examination room. She's told to change into a gown and the doctor would be in shortly.
As told, Dr. Felix comes in with a smile.*
“Hello Taylor. It's been a long time since I've seen you. I heard you and Avery had moved back.”
*Taylor nods, biting her lip at the mention of Avery who was still mysteriously absent.*
“Well let's get down to business. So based on these dates we put you at one day short of 11 weeks. That is great news. You're almost finished the first trimester.”
*He smiles and pulls out a weird looking wheel*
“That gives us an approximate due date of April 26. Spring is a great time of year. When was your first born?”
“June 18. She just turned 3 this summer.”
*Dr. Felix nods.*
“Any complications?”
“Just tired. Surprised at how sick I am. Maybe it means a boy this time.”
*Taylor laughs nervously.*
“Maybe so.”
“Well let's do the Ultrasound and see what we have. Obviously gender can't be determined yet, but you know the drill.”
*Taylor nods and moves on the examination table, exposing her slightly bloated belly. The doctor chuckles.*
“Gotta lay off those sweets huh? People are going to think you're expecting twins.”
*Taylor gives a nervous smile at the doctor's joke. He turns on the machine and coats the wand with the jelly.*
“This might be a little cold.”
*A knock at the door*
“Doctor, Mr. Miles is here for Miss Devereaux.”
*Taylor tries to look up.*
“Send him in.”
*The nurse opens the door and in steps Avery; sweaty and out of breath. He immediately heads to Taylor and takes her by the hand.*
“Sorry babe- the plane was late. I was making sure Alechs was all setup and we had bad weather. I tried to get here as quickly as possible. Did I miss anything? Is it a boy? I bet it’s a boy!”
*The doctor chuckles.*
“We still have ten more weeks before we know gender Avery. And you made it just in time. As I was saying, might be a little cold.”
*He brings the wand down and Taylor inadvertently squeezes Avery's hand. The doctor moves the wand around and makes a few ‘hmm’ sounds in his throat. Avery’s heart drops.*
“What? What is it doc? Please, just say it.”
*Avery squeezes her hand back, having gone through this before and knowing what is about to be told to the expecting couple. Avery’s eyes already begin to swell a bit, ready for him to breakdown*
“Nothing bad, I guess depending on what you consider bad.”
*He stops, types on the keyboard in front on the monitor and spins it around to show them. On the screen are three blurry spots.*
“You see this?”
*Dr. Felix points to the first spot and then to the one right next to it*
“Wha- what does that mean?”
*Avery shares glances from Taylor, back to the doc, back to Tay, and back to the doc again.*
“Is Tay okay? Is the baby okay?”
*He breathes deep.*
*The doctor smiles.*
“Those are twins, and judging by the fact that they are in one amniotic sack, my guess is identical to boot.”
*Taylor's eyes go wide.*
“Ummm, come again... Did you just say identical twins? and if those two are identical what's... what’s that third spot?”
*Dr. Felix smiles and nods.*
“Healthy twins with beating hearts. That third spot is their fraternal sibling. Triplets.”
*Avery looks astonished. He is silent for a few seconds*
“Um.. that’s possible?”
*He stares at Taylor, waiting for her reaction. He just holds her hand, completely in shock.*
“It's exceedingly rare, but yes it is. Taylor released two eggs. Now I don't know if either of you remember biology from high school but when a egg splits, it creates two identical eggs. The DNA is exactly the same. So basically one of those two eggs, split right after conception. Usually this sort of thing runs on the maternal side but I don't remember your mother having twins or triplets in her family Taylor.”
*Taylor is in shock but she answers with a shaky voice.*
“I just recently learned that Cecilia wasn't my real mother. I don't know who she is.”
“Well I remember a woman that lived here for a short time. She was a triplet. A sister and a brother. Rachel something. Didn't stay in town long. A couple years maybe but no one hardly seen her or her siblings. Maybe that will help.”
*Taylor nods*
“I had a Nanny named Rachel.”
*The doctor quickly changes the subject*
“So big surprise I take it? And no need to worry, everything looks to be on track. Take care of yourself and we’ll see you back here in about a month.”
*The doctor stands, hands the couple a sonogram picture and offers his hand to Avery. He shakes the hand of the doctor and is still a bit shocked as they finish up.*
“Anything special we need to make sure to do since it is…. Tri- trip- triplets.”
*Avery stutters.*
“Nope. Just continue taking your prenatals. If anything comes up, don't hesitate to call me. You kids take care.”
*With that, the doctor leaves the room. Avery turns towards her and kisses her hand.*
“Triplets? Are we even going to be able to handle- Will I be able to help enough- Oh my-”
*Taylor can see him getting a bit overwhelmed. She puts a hand on his, rubbing gently.*
“Maybe this is just the universe righting the two wrongs done to you Avery. And we will manage. We have your mom, and the new Nanny Lisa is starting soon. We can handle this.”
“You are right.”
*He smiles, kissing her hand again.*
“We got this. Plus the extra money from the school; Big Chief and Alechs running things. It all seems to be coming along at the right time.”
*Avery steps to her lower half and helps her up to her feet.*
“You okay?”
*She smiles.*
“I’m not fragile. Don't worry so much.”
*She reaches up to run her fingers through his hair affectionately.*
“But this does feel like something out of a Telenovela doesn't it?”
*She giggles.*
“Seniora Deveraux… how I love you so!”
*He quickly dips her, and passionately kisses her. She giggles again.*
“I’m going to get dressed and then, we can tell everyone the good news. Just be prepared for the haters.”
“Fuck them. I barely go on social media because of the haters anymore. I got my friends, and family. Well, those that are real friends.”
*He smiles at her.*
“I’ll be out in the lobby. I love you, Miss Devereaux.”
“I love you more Mr. Miles.”
*Avery leaves the room and heads into the lobby, waiting for Taylor to finish getting dressed. He is surrounding by a gaggle of pregnant ladies, as he picks up a copy of Ladies Health to fit into the scene. Taylor comes out minutes later and Avery swears that she's glowing*
“After you, Miss Devereaux. Perhaps get you something to eat?”
*With those words, she was good to go. They headed out of the office and onto a trip for a treat.*
Scene 002
Inside Avery’s SUV - Indio, California
October 5th, 2016
ON CAMERA
*We open as Avery is driving; shades are on, the windows down, and music is turned up. He passes a row of large homes, each one somehow outdoes the last. A bit of a folky, alt rock song plays loudly through the speakers as Avery pulls into the drive of the beautiful home he shares with Taylor. The home is much different than what we saw in previous months; it has been finished completely and looks very updated. More than just a fresh coat of paint; a deck, a fenced in area, and plenty of room for Avery and his family to enjoy fresh cut grass. Avery likes his shades off into the center console, shuts the engine off, and slides out of the SUV. He slides his keys into his pocket and walks up to the front door, unlocking it, and heading inside.*
“Taylor? Brooky?”
*He hears no response as he digs into his pocket. One missed call, and a text message. Taylor and Brooklyn went to visit his parents for the afternoon. He must have not heard the phone. He checked the time as it gave him a couple of hours to get some stuff done while the house was empty. Checking the date, he decided now was a great time to film something. No elaborate setup, he decided to head back outside to the front porch and hit the record button on the phone*
“The Pride. It is a social circle of lions. A family. A bond that they share. When I signed with Redemption Wrestling, I knew I was coming here likely on my way. Levi was still hung up in Australia with his family. Emma can no longer wrestle. I knew the Kaylee, as much as we got along, were only teaming against a common enemy. I knew that Taylor was stepping back… and then I saw it. Trixie and Angel. Part of “The Pride” with Taylor… a group of female wrestlers that were spread out among a few companies. Well, it only makes sense that I keep an eye out for them and they keep an eye out for me as well. Each Pride has a male lion, and that is the exact spot that I am filling. We might have our own paths that we are aiming for; both of them much newer than I might be. But we share a common mindset, and that is to be the best while having each other’s back. It was on the suggestion of Taylor that I got with Trixie and Angel, and the three of us will show this weekend why The Pride is to be taken seriously. I know that having Josh and Ronnie on the other side, along with Kaylee; our job is not clear cut. It is not easy; three former champions. They are much more experienced than what we are bringing to the table, but can they claim to form a family bond like we do?”
*Avery sees a couple walking down the street walking a large Great Dane. He waves at them, and they wave back*
“When things finally start to come together, it is a hard thing to accept happiness. For someone that has dealt with everything that he has dealt with… it can be understandable. I am happy and excited to say… Taylor and I are expecting. I am not going to go blabbering all across social media because I know the haters are out there with their little jokes… but I am happier than I’ve ever been. I’ve held off saying anything because I wanted to get to a safe point; and the doctor’s say that all three are happy, healthy babies.”
*Avery smiles, giving away that it is three.*
“I might not be a part of the tag title scene, but that does not mean that Trixie and Angel are on the same page with myself. The three of us, we have been training. Working together. Plus we’ve been hanging long before Taylor was a part of Alpha Rising. I’ve known these girls outside of the ring, and we will be on the same page and ready for our match. A three on three match; and a true test of talent and skill. We have a hard test in front of ourselves. And we will be ready.”
*Avery smiles as Taylor pulls up into the driveway, as the video ends*
