Character Information
** Character's Real Name - Joshua Alexander Kennedy
** Talent Name - Josh Kennedy
** Picbase - Elmo O'Connor (AKA Bones)
** Billed From - Long Beach, California
** Age - 25
** Height - 6'1
** Weight - 174 lbs
** Theme Song - Code Orange - "Mercy"
** Entrance - As the opening to "Mercy" screams out across the arena, the lights dim, flashing to life with every snare of the drums, guitar feedback aggressively blasting the ears of the crowd. While the driving riff picks up pace, the lights strobe with the rapid beat and Josh appears on the stage, eyes locked on the ring, standing inert for a few moments as he surveys his surroundings before making his down the ramp at a measured walking pace, slapping hands with the fans who outstretch them for him, but never once stopping. Once he reaches the ring, Josh slides himself under the ropes, slingshots himself off them, and stops his own momentum on the other side, resting against the ropes. He then raises his left hand, displaying the Ourobouros tattoo on the back of it, and crooks his finger at the entrance ramp, or directly to his opponent (please edit as appropriate to order of entrances), goading them with a crooked smirk.
Personality
** Are you a Face/Heel/Tweener Leaning Face/Tweener Leaning Heel - Face-leaning Tweener
Josh is volatile and quick to anger. He may fight, attack and antagonise anyone he feels like, regardless of alignment or standing in the company, and on rare occasions even transcending his own opinion of them if he feels he has a point to prove. However he doesn't tend to cheat very often, plays to crowds, and is fiercely loyal to and protective of those he considers friends.
** Favorite Match - Hardcore, Deathmatch, and any other extreme or intensive match-types. In all truth, Josh is down for absolutely anything and will often try to brute force his way into matches that have wild stipulations intentionally, so long as he feels he's earned it. He wants to be the driving force behind any and all in-ring chaos and brutality wherever possible. He'll happily fight anyone, under any circumstances.
** Favorite Weapon - Personalised aluminium baseball bat referred to as "Old Faithful" that's been with him since his days in Japan. It's been repeatedly destroyed and bent out of shape to beyond a useable state, but Josh insists on having the original aluminium of the bat melted down, reinforced and reformed when it becomes unusable out of a strange sentimentality. He may wrap barbed wire around it when appropriate.
** Wrestling Style - Hybrid (Striking/Grappling/Hardcore)
Josh's approach to competition is anything but methodical. He tends to work primarily on a combination of stiff striking (he strongly favors kicks and knee strikes above all else) and rapidly-executed technical grappling, skills he refined during his rise to prominence in Japan, the strong-style influence becoming the dominant one in his arsenal. Although he may occasionally pepper this with some top rope or springboard moves for diversity, calling back to the early days of his career as a high-flyer.
Working at a breakneck pace that few can parallel, he relies on attacking relentlessly until he simply can't anymore, whether that's due to missing a move, being reversed, or just plain exhaustion (he will even chain offense together until he collapses, if given the opportunity to run himself ragged enough). Stubborn to a fault, Josh will more happily find himself incapacitated in the hospital from failing to pull off something spectacularly crazy for a victory as opposed to giving up on a match, an approach that has cost him many an opportunity. He meticulously studies footage and takes notes in order to familiarise himself with his opponents, so he often has a good sense of scouting which he'll use to create opportunities for himself to regain control as a way of trying to make up for his scatterbrained approach to offense.
Although his style and speciality tends to lean towards Hardcore wrestling, Josh is always eager to prove himself in standard matches too (perhaps too eager for his own good), fearing that his background and skills in this area may lead him to be dismissed as a one-trick pony, something he absolutely despises. And his former World Championship reign giving him the confidence to believe that he can prove this misconception wrong. Whether he can actually do so amongst the ranks of Redemption Wrestling remains to be seen.
** In-Ring Attire - Josh's in-ring attire varies little. He always wears black shorts, and black-and-white trainers. Josh completes his attire with a rotating series t-shirts or tank tops for various hardcore punk and metal bands he enjoys. It seems as though he sports a new one nearly every time he appears.
** Brief Character Bio - Since his early teens, Josh has been a devoted hardcore punk and metal kid, and this culture defines him to this day. As does his mental instability, something he shared with his late father, who passed away when Josh was 11. The loss of their father greatly strained Josh and his sister Lexi's relationship with their mother. Kicked out of his family home at 18, after standing up for his pregnant sister while she was just 16-years-old, Josh travelled around, trying to find a place for he and his sister to settle. Eventually they found a trailer park in Reno, Nevada. Josh started wrestling on the indie circuits around the area to make just enough money for himself, his sister, and newborn niece Clara to live on and keep the trailer. But things were strained, and it became clear that this couldn't continue indefinitely. Eventually taking a lucrative job offer in Tokyo, Josh left his family behind in order to keep a roof over their heads, and having dedicated 4 years of his life to the Japanese hardcore and deathmatch-based wrestling federation over there, Josh became a beloved foreign star in Japan. Eventually getting the call to work with the big-leagues in America while struggling through the remnants of a failed relationship he'd had there, Josh left Japan to rejoin his family and sign with the UWF, the company that had cemented his love of wrestling when he was young. His fluctuating mental health caused him to struggle, as it continues to do, but he eventually found Championship success, finding a home at the top of the Hardcore division after returning from a nine-month injury, and ending up undefeated in Hardcore matches during a six-month reign with the Hardcore title, working as hard as he could to elevate it before eventually relinquishing it to reign as Universal Champion after a successful title challenge. Struggling under the pressure of a World Championship reign, Josh was finally diagnosed with bipolar disorder, a diagnosis that had eluded him throughout his troubled youth.
As his struggles with his own mental health and work continued, Josh's new girlfriend Saskia fell ill with encephalitis and was rendered comatose shortly thereafter, while Josh was out of town for his final, unsuccessful UWF Universal Championship defense. Josh promptly lost himself to an intense stint of binging alcohol and drugs, amongst other self-destructive behaviors. Once Saskia awoke to witness Josh's downward spiral first-hand, the two agreed to break up, citing Josh's unhealthy dependency on her. After a brief sabbatical to put himself back on track, Josh returned to the industry revitalised and ready to balance in-ring competition in CWC's brutal deathmatch brand Slaughterhouse Wrestling with caring for his niece, whom he has been left by his flighty sister to raise completely alone. Still incredibly unstable and self-destructive, but partially recovered, Josh tries to turn to his work as an outlet, although his vices still persist.
Confident, but not egotistical, Josh has embraced and strengthened many of the aspects of himself he had, until recently, wanted to tear away. The instability, volatility, extreme recklessness, and sheer brutality that makes him the often unparalleled hardcore wrestler he has come to be known as. Fully embracing his desire to inject chaos as he goes. This behavior is likely to cause friction between Josh and figures of authority who wish to run a tight ship. If given the freedom to do as he pleases, Josh will be respectful, otherwise, Josh will be incredibly insubordinate, and likely spurred on to behave even more chaotically. Josh is never one to back down from any kind of fight regardless of his chances, and this approach can end up being to his own detriment when he picks on somebody who is considered far more talented than himself, or provokes them to seek him out. Despite his deeply-rooted flaws, he is fiercely loyal to the very select few people who mean anything to him, and he is (perhaps surprisingly) easy to get along with outside of the ring, humorous, easygoing, self-aware, and perhaps most shockingly, reasonable. He is always grateful for fans that choose to support him, but he will never adjust his behaviors or change himself because he does something they dislike.
