The sound of waves crashing into the shore eases us into the scene of one of LA's finest beaches. A small crew has been setup exclusively for what appears to be a photoshoot for a West Coast Genesis competitor Ruby Rose! The South Bay hopeful is enjoying a moment of fun time in her career as she is the subject in a very fun and carefree beach shoot. She's got her pink and white polka dot bikini along with some fun props like a beach ball, a frisbee, and even a surfboard! She's currently posing with the beach ball and has a huge smile on her face as a series of shots are taken in quick succession.
"Alright, Ruby! Nice job. Take five."
"Awesome! Thanks!"
She tosses the ball to one of the crew members with a laugh and then heads over to retrieve her robe, finding a small reprieve from the chilly air.
"Okay, so... I guess it kind of looks like I've been taking Jack Santore lightly. Or maybe it looks like I'm looking ahead to my title match."
Ruby presses her lips together in thought and shakes her head, looking upset about her own assumption.
"I really hope that's not the perception I've given out. I know that I've been looking towards my South Bay Championship opportunity at Hype four, but I'm well aware that I have to get through Santore at Hype three FIRST!"
She gives a nod of confirmation on that thought.
"And I know that I'm out here doing what some might consider a silly photoshoot when I should be cutting a more focused promotional piece on my opponent, but..."
With a sigh, she shrugs her shoulders and shakes her head. She takes a seat in the chair provided for her on the makeshift set.
"The thing is, I don't really have anything against Jack Santore. He's new. Brand new. And I know exactly what that's like. I mean, he's probably not a gunshy as I was when I started... heck, I still feel like I'm starting. So, there's that too. The rookie vs. a rookie. I've got the nerves still every time I look at the card and see what's put before me. And yeah, I'll admit that the nerves of hearing about a South Bay Championship opportunity coming my way has really amped up the nerves far more than is usual even for me."
The nerves are on full display as Ruby's eyes get a little bigger than usual and she almost looks like she's going to vomit. She takes a couple deep breaths to get this all under control.
"I mean, I'm excited to wrestle Jack Santore. I was really looking forward to finally getting some ring time with Trenton Kelvin, but the change doesn't bother me. I've always kind of gone with the flow and try not to make waves. Been told that's not the way to make a name for yourself, but what the hey. I'm all about making the name I want my way."
She shrugs her shoulders and has a short laugh over her whole "doing it nicely" way. Sometimes you gotta wonder if that's even getting her anywhere or if she's just fooling herself.
"It's hard not to look beyond that, though. Especially when I've got Danni on the other side. She's someone that I look up to so much. Her confidence is as compelling as her beauty. Her boyfriend Donovan will be there as well and his power is absolutely terrifying. Jess Hardy is, like, alpha female level. And then Austen..."
What about Austen?! Almost a little rude that Ruby trails off on his name when she had such intimidating reactions to the rest of the competitors.
"Austen's a bit like me. Got that new kid on the block feel and while I'm sure he's all about advancing his career, it's a different kind of nervousness to facing him. Anxiousness. As soon as I heard he was signed, I knew he would be an incredible opponent to compete against. So, while I'm looking forward to competing for the South Bay Championship, I'm looking forward to finally getting in there with Danni, and Donovan, and Jess, I'm especially eager to see how someone like Austen can push me in the ring."
The nerves of competing for a championship, and against talent that she's been watching compete since she came to West Coast Genesis, seem to mellow out a little when she thinks about the match containing someone else she feels is more on her level in Austen. It certainly makes her feel less like a small fish in the ocean.
"And that's sort of what it's like with Jack Santore. I mean, I haven't really become friends with him like I have with Austen, but he seems nice enough. He's new around here like I am, and that makes it a little easier to relax and focus on this match. Do what I gotta do, take it one day at a time, one match a time, one HYPE at a time. Hype three is what's in front of me and I'm ready to get my first victory here in West Coast Genesis."
V for victory! Ruby throws up a peace sign with a huge smile that is surely a double meaning. She's all about peace and love, but V for victory~!
"Alright, Ruby! We're ready when you are!"
She glances off-camera at the call to get back to business.
"Back to the salt mines. Someone's gotta do it. See ya at Hype!"
With a huge grin she heads off but not before another V for victory~!
