On Camera
Iphigenia Medrapedes stands patiently in front of a yellow West Coast Genesis backdrop, her usual smile on clear display. She waits a few moments, keeping her focus on the camera in front of her.
Iphy: Hiya, so Spotlight is almost here huh? Aren't you all just super excited!? I know I sure am.
Iphy claps happily, and bounces in place, and audible squeal escapes and it's obvious she is very excited.
Iphy: I get to fight my good friend Ms. Richards, so win, lose, or draw, we are going to both give it everything we have. Both of us giving it are bestest shot, and she picked me to fight.
Iphy nods in agreement, her smile growing even wider at this point. She takes a few moments to reflect on this fact, in her mind this move on Tasmin’s part made Iphy feel very special.
Iphy: I am on top of the whole wide world! I get to be in the ring with a friend, and that always makes me ever so happy. We've tagged, we've been two thirds of a fantastic trio, we've even fought before. But, now. We get to do it one on one.
From off camera, Ian Quarells approaches Iphy, a semi smug look on his face. He sizes Iphy up. He runs his hand over his chin, and Iphy looks toward him and waves excitedly.
Iphy: Hiya Mister, I'm Iphy. Nice to meet ya. Um, what ya doing?
Ian: Heard you over here talking, you're going about this situation all wrong kid. Tasmin Richards might be a friend, and that's fine, but that shouldn't factor into this at all. You go out with that attitude, you're going to lose.
Iphy scrunches her nose, and places her hands on her hips mater matter of factly, her eyes move up to meet Ian's.
Iphy: But it's not about that Mr. Whatever your name is.
Ian: My sincerest apologies madame, Ian Quarells is the name. Look Iphigenia, I understand that yes, there are far more important things than winning. This, is, after all a title match. Do you not want to feel gold around your waist?
Iphy: Someday, sure. But when, and if I do it, I shall do so by being me. I won't compromise who I am in order to do so.
Ian shakes his head, and looks at Iphy almost pleading her to heed his advice.
Ian: My lady, you have the chance, a golden opportunity. It is within your grasp, and you choose some idealistic concept, such as friendship to focus on? Madame, you need to show some ruthlessness, some tenacity, grow a spine won't you. For your own sake.
Iphy: I'm plenty tenacious Mr. Quarells. I definitely have a spine, as far as ruthlessness goes,I can do it without it, you just watch. I'm not going to claim to beat Ms. Richards, but if it happens it'll be fair and square.
Ian: Iphigenia, I am not advocating blatant breaking of the rules, you misinterpret my words. I simply think you need to put yourself out of this bubble you seem to have found yourself in, wherein you value one's own personal feeling towards an individual, over the winning of a title match.
Iphy starts to say something, but is seemingly having trouble understanding just what Ian is talking about.
Iphy: Say that again please, but English or perhaps Greek this time. I do t understand that other language.
Ian: Οι φίλοι είναι καλοί, η νίκη είναι καλύτερη. Better?
Iphy: Better than friends Mr. Quarells? Don't be a silly goose, nothing is better than friends. Not even victory.
Ian shrugs, and snickers a little at Iphy.
Ian: Whatever you say kid, it's your match. Guess you just go out there and do your thing. Best of luck.
Iphy: Thanks a million Mr. Quarells, and I will, I'm going to out there and put on the bestest match I possibly can. Just you wait and see.
