“So here we are…”
The camera starts rolling inside the music room of Adrien Cochrane’s home. The building, loosely connected to Adrien’s house, is located in Adrien’s backyard with the next room over on the other side of a pair of double doors containing Adrien’s training room, complete with all his gym equipment and practice ring. Instruments littered the room, from the grand piano towards the back of the stage, several guitars and basses hanging on the side of the stage, a keyboard stationed opposite them, a couple of microphones set up in a couple of key locations.
“We’ve finally hit the home stretch. Possibly one of the biggest pay per view matches in the history of NGW. And we get to be a part of it, Johnny. We’re finally here. Adrien Cochrane. Johnny Maverick. Last Man Standing. NGW Championship.”
Adrien Cochrane is sitting on the edge of the stage. He’s wearing a different Yellowcard shirt than the one he wore on Father’s Day, but another Yellowcard shirt is covering is torso nonetheless. His black jeans match his black t-shirt, and he is wearing his black bowler hat, partially covering his blonde hair. He looks up to the camera, smiling that the match was nearly upon them.
“I’m going to be completely frank to all my fans out there. This is a must win for me. I will have to take a step back and completely evaluate if I’m ready for this championship if I don’t succeed this time. If I can’t pull off this victory, I might as well drop myself to the Five Lakes or maybe even Spotlight, because it would be a big sign that two attempts at this title are enough and it’s not meant to be right now. I mean, with Jaime back out of retirement, maybe we could even pursue the NGW Tag Team Championship as the Fight Kings once again, something we never got to do the first time we worked with one another.
“But let’s steer from the negative. Because when I look back at everything I’ve done in NGW, I have nothing to be ashamed of. I have a pretty good winning percentage, I’ve won some big matches like Warfare when it was me versus two Destroyers and even defeating the big one in a cage match at Convergence. I made some friends that I hope will be lifelong friendships, including a future sister-in-law that, sure I was friends with her, but our friendship became forged when we stepped into the ring together, prepared to fight alongside one another to the point where I even took a move intended for her that could have done some serious harm to her. And it all started when I shocked the world at WrestleForce.
“And here we are. The biggest show in the company. The very one I debuted on. The one they decided humbled me by choosing me to place on the cover of the poster and all the promotional material before anyone even knew that I would be sitting at the main event. Before I even knew, to be honest with you. But regardless, we take it back to where it all began...WrestleForce.”
After a simple nod of his head, he slips off the stage and is now standing in front of it, leaning back on the stage as he looks to the camera, stationed above some of the chairs in the room.
“Johnny Maverick. The man who preaches the words ‘Never Give Up, Never Surrender, Never Relent’ is the one I have to face for this grand match, the biggest match of my NGW career. And to make things interesting, he wanted to make this a Last Man Standing match. He wants to prove to the world that he won’t give up, relent, nor surrender. And this is the perfect match for him to showcase that. I’m not under any sort of impression that this match is going to be a walk in a park. It wouldn’t be worth it if it was. This will be an EXTREMELY difficult match for me to win because Johnny Maverick is a hard man to keep down. I know, I’ve fought him before. And look at the way he’s frustrated his recent opponents. Even Matthew Shields lost his cool facing him with the title on the line.
“But there’s a reason I’ve been able to have the success I’ve had in my career. I’m not a very strong person. I’m barely six feet tall, and I’m ten pounds under two hundred. There’s a lot of people on this roster I don’t have the ability to lift and some I can suplex and whatever but will probably take literally everything I got. I’ve never been a power guy. Never will be...I’m thirty-one years old, for crying out loud. If I was going to bulk up and overpower people, I missed the train on that one. Sure, I’m fast, but people are quick to dismiss that as something that really benefits me.
“In the end, there are only two things that people will tell you brought me to where I am today: my work ethic and my heart. Because Johnny Maverick isn’t the only one who doesn’t give up, surrender, and relent. I could have given up when I was face to face with Kayla Richards and Matthew Shields, alone with them in the ring. But I didn’t. I could have surrendered when Julianna DiMaria was practically waterboarding me in that I Quit match. But I didn’t. I could have relented when I lost two Guardians, knowing that we were soon going to have that final battle with the Destroyers that we eventually won. But I didn’t.
“I live and breathe those words too, Johnny. We just phrase them differently. I summarize those seven words of yours into one: Believe. And sure, you’ve made your jokes on Twitter, poking fun at my mantra. You’re a guy who enjoys humor. You love a good laugh, even if the jokes tend to be a little pointed. It is what it is. I’m not mad. I hope that maybe we can return to being friends once this is over.
“But let me point out the mistake you’ve made, Johnny. You’re sleeping on me. You’re prepared to declare that you are indestructible, but you’re going to have a hard time putting me away too. I will fight through Fallout and into the next episode of Dissension if I have to. Because as I said before, I can’t afford not to. This is a must-win match for me. I HAVE to win this match. And I will give you everything I have to make sure I do win it. I am leaving WrestleForce as the NGW Champion. I will defeat you, my friend, because this is a match that my career might ride on. This championship will show that I am still one of the very best in this industry, and I’m not prepared to relinquish anytime soon. We are at a point where this isn’t even something that I just believe.
“This is something that I know.”
Wanna hold my wife when I get home
Wanna tell the kids they'll never know
How much I love to see them smile
Wanna make a change or two right now
Wanna live a life like you somehow
Wanna make your sacrifice worthwhile

Everything is gonna be alright
Everything is gonna be alright
(Think about the love inside the strength of heart)
Everything is gonna be alright
Be strong. Believe.
(Think about the heroes saving life in the dark)
Everything is gonna be alright
Everything is gonna be alright
(Think about the chance I never had to say)
Everything is gonna be alright
Be strong, believe.
(Thank you for giving up your life that day)
