Where We Come From
*****
OFF CAMERA
Delia Knight is sitting at the dining table. She sits at the head of table, while Zach sits two spots down from her. Fine dishes are in front of them, as a nice steak, some steamed vegetables, and glasses of wine are their meal for the evening. Pictures of the family and Zach as a child are all over the walls. The room is eerily quiet, to the point that a pin drop could be heard throughout the entire house. Zach pulls out his fork and knife, ready to eat his dinner.
Delca: Zach, you can sit closer. You know that, right?
Zach: No. I am just fine right here.
Delia: Suit yourself. How is the food?
Zach: Not bad. Thanks.
Delia: I figured living on your own, and it has been so quiet here that you could stop over for a nice dinner.
Delia takes a large gulp of the wine. Zach mumbles something under his breath.
Delia: What was that?
Zach: I said thanks, ma.
Delia: You take care of that Lilly girl, yet?
Zach: Well I had hired a P.I. And get this; I dug up something even she did not know!
Delia: Oh? What is that?
Zach: Well apparently her parents, or so she thought, actually adopter her. She had no clue. You should have seen it.
Delia: Aww, poor Lilly.
She laughs and takes another drink of the wine.
Delia: How about you get a ticket for me to come see the next show?
Zach: I don’t think-
Delia: Aww, come on Zach. For your mom.
Zach: Or lack thereof.
Delia: What did you say?
Zach: Come on. We both know that if you weren’t my mother, there is little chance I would be showing my face around here. You’ve been cold since the day dad died.
Delia: You watch your tongue?
Zach: What’s the matter, mother? Truth hurt?
Zach shoves his plate forward.
Zach: I am done. Thanks.
Delia: Zach. Please. Stay.
Zach: I have things to get to. I love you.
He stands up and heads over to Delia. Kitting her on the cheek, Zach heads out the door leaving his mom all alone sitting at the dining table.
ON CAMERA
Zach Knight is sitting in the den of his house; the house that he paid for with his own money from wrestling. In a short time, Zach has already made plenty of enemies. First and foremost, Spike Steel. The man that pushed Zach to his limit at Ultimate Resolve. But thanks to the group known as Black Light District, Spike was able to ensure victory in the Triple Menace Match. Now push has come to shove, and Spike has decided to get involved with Zach again. This time, the stakes are much higher. The loser of the match earns their release from the company. In Zach’s mind, there is no way he can let this happen. And the fact of the matter is that Spike is alone; Silas was just released, and we saw both Mikhail and Luke disappear from the company as well. This is going to be a true one-on-one battle and in the end only one man will remain employed.
We open as Zach is relaxing on his couch. The tv is on to show some baseball game, most likely the Mariners. The tv is on mute as Zach offers an already cocky smirk towards the camera.
Zach: Here we are, old timer. Spike Steel. The lone man left from the group of guys that tucked tail and disappeared. What are you going to do now that you are alone? Oh that is right, the stipulation of the match is already set. Loser gets fired.
Zach looks around.
Zach: And I don’t see anyone around here losing. The simple fact is that I am in better shape, I am younger, and I am simply better than you. Born better. I am The Legacy. What are you? The chunky member of the District that was too stupid or poor to cut their ties and disappear into an episode of “What Happened To…” somewhere down the line. Ever since our match at the Pay-per-view, things have been cooling off for me. And this is where my fortunes change. At your expense. I mean, what better way to make a statement then to be the man to make you disappear. Like a magician, I have put time and training into my craft. Some might see it as a challenge, but I see it as the inevitable. So bring whatever you’ve got Spikey, because I am ready. And you will learn what it is like to fight a real man one on one with no cage, no weapons, and no friends.
And for you, Lilly. I guess sometimes the truth hurts. It was never my intention to find this sort of dirt. I was more expecting a parking ticket. Or maybe you flashed your tits one time, giving your current goodie too shoes act. But being adopted? And not knowing it? Boy was I way off. Once I am done with Spike, you are next on my list. You and I will finally deal with this little back and forth we have going. I've seen the record books and know that you've been quite successful. But you and I have not faced off one-on-one either. So prepare yourself, Lil. The bad man is a-comin'. I will be ready to put you down for the count and make you pay for what you did to my family. Bring whatever supposed story you have to tell. And spin your web of lies. My grandfather was put into an early grave because of leeches like you. And your friends. The Knight Family always comes out on top, and we will get ours. You can count on it.
With that, Zach offers a shit eating grin to the camera and has a drink of water before the video fades to black.
