The Fanged Angels, Level Up!
File 018: Tandem | タンデム (Part 2)
...into another perspective. A second camera came into play, this one with a black and white “movie” filter.
Jessica: “Don’t get me wrong, we’re not taking you lightly. I’m never going to underestimate my opponents. Neither is Dean… as cocky as he likes to come off at times.”
Glancing back towards her boyfriend, she playfully winked at him in jest. He looked down at her and lifted a brow.
Dean: “As cocky as he IS.”
He corrected with a lopsided smirk and glanced back at the camera.
Dean: “I wasn’t disappointed. Hell boys, i was offended. Cuz i promise you here and now, that if you had been in a tag match with the former Destroyers? Shields and Kayla? Those with all the fleas, you know them i imagine? You’d have given them your full attention and we all know it. You’d have spouted off enough poetic lines that people would have thought they tuned into NGW: Shakespeare in the Park. But you didn’t do that, did you? You think this is just a passing moment in your careers. A blip on your personal radar. And… that offends me.”
Rosalyn: “That is pretty offensive.”
As always, the Bastard’s Princess quipped up from behind the camera. Jessica blinked and giggled a little. She still found her current position humorous, but she cleared her throat and allowed Dean to continue.
Dean:” I suppose we could always just do the same.”
Dean shifted his eyes to stare deadpan into the camera.
Dean: “Dead Eye. Alechs. You both exist. We know you are there.”
Dean then glanced from the camera to Ros and Jess.
Dean: “That’s a wrap guys!”
If Rosalyn could perform a real-life anime fall… she would at this very moment. Jessica’s infectious giggling resurfaced and she shook her head.
Jessica: “Oh mein Gott. I’m sorry, that’s…”
More giggling ensued.
Jessica: “That’s not going to work.”
Rising from the chair, she moved it aside and approached the camera. The camera’s auto-response zoomed out and focused better on the Paladin’s form.
Jessica: “Dead Eye… Charles James, there was something you said that grabbed my attention. Three words: Trust the process. Regardless of the difficulties, the trials and tribulations, one must simply… trust the process. And believe me, there is a process that I’ve learned from Jaime, from Ricky, from many people who have taken the time to train me… and in case you didn’t know this? Dean was one of the people who trained me as well.”
She offered a firm nod and folded her arms across her chest.
Jessica: “When Spirit and Pride Wrestling was being overruled by the Hellfire Club, my strength to continue fighting was fading. New management emerged from the depths and they resented me from the start. I had just filed for divorce… I was experiencing a new low in my life. I wasn’t sure if I could go on in wrestling, something I grew to love more than video gaming… and then from the darkness, Dean reached out to me. He said he saw potential in me that, at the time, I didn’t see in myself. He extended to me the opportunity to train with him for four days in Pismo Beach. I took it. So in many ways, he and I have been working together for a long time… A lot longer than you and Alechs realize, Charles.”
Jessica began to take a couple steps back when she was lightly stopped by Dean’s bigger frame. He looked down at the top of her head and then up at the camera as he placed a large hand on her shoulder and the other around her waist.
Dean: “I know this woman in ways no one else has. Sure, she’s had men. Women too possibly for all i know…”
There was an incredibly awkward and silent exchange between Jessica and Rosalyn. Even out of the camera’s view, one could sense the awkwardness coming from Rosalyn. Jessica blushed and leaned back against Dean while he continued.
Dean: “...but i don’t mean that. I figured i needed to clarify that because there are idiots like Matthew Shields and Jaxon Richards watching who would jump on it like a fat kid on a cupcake. I know how she’ll react to a suplex. To a clothesline. To an Injection or dropick. I know exactly where she is gonna be from one second to the next. So when i pick one of you up and toss you off my shoulders like a ragdoll….i know she’ll be waiting for the Silver Moon Shockwave. From there it’s down to one thing. One. Two.”
Jessica: “Three.”
By then, the blush had faded. There was only determination on the Paladin’s face. She reached up with her gloved hands and felt the Fanged One’s hands gently grasp hers. They laced their fingers together and she focused her soft blue eyes on the camera.
Jessica: “Charles, Alechs, you have the friendship, the training, and the passion. Dean and I have the profound bond, the training, and the trifecta...”
Rosalyn: “Passion. Prowess. Power.”
Jessica looked behind the camera at her childhood sister and nodded.
Jessica: “...Dean and I are more than just partners in the ring. We are partners in life. That is what you’re up against… and I hope you’re prepared for the fight the Fanged Angels are going to bring.”
Dean: “But when you aren’t? Don’t feel bad.”
The couple looked towards each other for a brief moment. They committed with a firm nod in unison before they looked towards the camera one more time.
Jessica: “It’s time. Level up or shut up. Press start and roll the initiative.”
Dean and Jessica: “You. Were. Warned.”
Behind the camera, Rosalyn smiled and cut the video feed into pure static. She looked up to Dean and Jessica and grinned.
Rosalyn: “Fear the Fanged Angels.”
