Anderson Household
Jesse age 15
A family of four sat around a usual square table with a meal vanishing between short gaps in conversation. Silverware clattered against plates every so often, some clinks which no one else would notice beside the youngest son. He kept his head slightly ducked while shoveling in food. Danni, the eldest daughter kept a light hearted debate from ever reaching the youngest child. Both parents were eager to pitch opinions on the matter. When it lulled to an end his mother extended an invitation to him: “And how was your day?”
Jesse glanced up, chipper, as if he had been here awaiting the inquiry, “It was good. Aced my math test… Uhh, coach says i’m the fastest guy on the team.”
My theories about being a freak were proven today. Javier is handsome. He approached me in gym with a smile that made my heart flutter, my palms were sweaty, and I could have vomited from nerves. No one noticed but from that moment on I pushed myself harder to score more points in our basketball game that didn’t matter. My legs were jelly by the end but he said he was impressed… Worth it… I wish I could go to the dance with him instead of Christina. We ate lunch together with a group of people. He chose to sit right next to me and even stole some of my fries. I wanted so badly to lean over and kiss him.
“Uh, I asked Christina to the dance and she said yes so.” Jesse kept smiling when his parents praised him for all the hard work: “That’s amazing. You be sure to treat her right.” “Atta boy.” More praised when it came to his love life. Yeah, their son was a model teenager. No crime, little complaints, he went to church, he did his homework, helped out around the house and didn’t do drugs.
Jesse Anderson…
Perfect son.
Perfect Student
Bright future ahead.
Athletic star
All around swell guy!
His eyes went back to the table when Danni took the spotlight again. They smiled, they laughed, and things in this house were heavenly…

A fist launched to meet the mark against the side of another boy’s face. The victim staggered to the left keeping both arms up to block any more incoming damage. Jesse took a step forward to hold momentum with a left-right combo repeatedly pounded into the stomach with grunts of contact. Gloves locked around Jesse’s shoulders in attempt to hold but being met with the same treatment. Jesse struck his knee up into the torso. Again. Again! A small growl ripped from Jesse’s throat as he threw body weight into another strike. There was a groan of pain as the opponent stumbled back. Fists were raised refusing to lessen the assault. The opponent lunged forward looking for the escape of locking up but his cheek was knocked sideways with a elbow strike. He collapsed to a knee, eyes grew wide upon the sight of what lingered above him. Drenched in sweat with the eyes of an inhuman ghoul that snarled— Jesse loomed. He lifted his leg ending the match with a sickening strike….
Jesse Anderson
Living Ghoul.
Malicious.
“That’s my boy.” Mr. Anderson clapped Jesse on the shoulder in the parking lot. The two of them were smiling. Jesse shook out his hair as oxygen flooded freely for the first time in what felt like a year. Mauy thai centered the young man until he felt true happiness. No false smiles tugging at the corner of his lips or only offering half information to fulfill his role.
“Thanks, dad. Bet mom will be proud to put another trophy on the shelf. ”
“Oh, she’ll be thrilled.” Alexander removed his arm in order to fish out car keys. “How about we go get some dinner?”
“I’d love that.”
