Serenity, and Avery were at the Doctor’s office, as they were getting an ultrasound done, along with finding out the sex of the baby. Serenity was a bit nervous, as she wasn’t sure what she was wanting more, or how she would react once it was revealed to them. She glances over at Avery, as she smiles a bit. He smiles a bit as the doctor heads into the office.
Doctor: Welcome back folks. How are things?
Avery: Not too bad. We are excited to see the sex of the baby.
Doctor: Oh yeah. It is that time. What are we hoping for?
Avery looks at Serenity.
Avery: We are happy no matter what.
The doctor gets out the jelly and puts some gloves on. She lifts Serenity’s shirt up a bit more.
Serenity: That is going to tickle, I know it.
Serenity lightly giggles, as she looks at the Doctor. She reaches for Avery’s hand. Avery takes her hand as he works to comfort her.
Avery: I love you.
Serenity: I love you too Avery.
Serenity was glad he said that, as it did comfort her some. She glances towards the machine, as she was hoping she could see.
The doctor uses the wand as they hear a heartbeat.
Doctor: Mmhmm. Okay. Well… well, then.
Serenity looks towards Avery, as she was nervous now.
Serenity: Is something wrong?
The doctor looks serious for a moment.
Avery: Doc?
She pauses for a minute, and then turns to them for a smile.
Doctor: Well… I hope you have picked out a name for either a boy or a girl.
Avery: We have. Just in case it was either.
Doctor: Good.
Serenity: Wait, why do you say that? Can’t you tell what it is?
Doctor: Well… both.
Avery looks at Serenity confused.
Avery: Both?
The doctor nods.
Doctor: A boy…. And a girl.
Serenity blinks for a few second, before she looks at Avery.
Serenity: Did she just…
Avery’s face brightens up.
Avery: Twins? Really?
Doctor: Yes. Sometimes it is too early to tell. And with you being over in Europe we have not seen you in a bit. Which we need to rectify.
Avery nods.
Doctor: But yes. A boy and a girl.
Avery: Wow.
He was speechless.
Serenity: I.. but...wow.
Serenity was really trying to wrap her head around it, as she looks at Avery more.
Serenity: Wait, how often will we need to see you now?
Doctor: Well normally it is weeks 4 to 28, 1 prenatal visit a month. With weeks 28 to 36, 1 prenatal visit every 2 weeks. And with weeks 36 to 40, 1 prenatal visit every week. With your due date of June 13th, that means you are around 23 weeks. So you have a few more weeks of seeing me every other week. I would say Mid-March I need to see you every other week.
She looks at Avery, as she nods her head.
Serenity: Alright, we can figure it all out, and have it all set in motion. We can do it… right?
Avery: Definitely. That just means after Ireland we will need to visit home every two weeks or you stay back. What did you want to do, angel?
Serenity: Travel home every two weeks for as long as I can. I don’t want to be without you for any of this if I don't have to.
Avery: Good. That is what I hoped.
Doctor: Well we can make sure to setup a specific date of the week for checkups if that helps.
Avery nods.
Doctor: May I ask.. Did you have names set then?
Serenity laughs lightly, as she nods her head.
Serenity: We do, actually we have a name picked out for both.
Doctor: You… want to share?
She smiles at Serenity.
Serenity: Journey for our girl Peanut, and Avery for our boy Peanut.
She smiles as she says that. Avery has a laugh.
Avery: Avery Jacoby Miles IV. I am Avery Jamison. My dad is Avery Joseph. And my grandfather is Avery Jason.
Doctor: A lot of Averys. And what about Journey?
Avery looks at Serenity.
Serenity: Journey Patience Miles. We had our Journey that led to this moment with them, and learned how to be patient.
Avery smiles.
Doctor: I like that name. Well, I will you both back in about a month. Be safe.
Avery nods as he helps Serenity to sit up.
Serenity: We will be here.
Serenity smiles, as she looks at Avery before kissing him. He kisses her back as the doctor exits allowing Serenity to wipe the gel off and leave the office.
