Swimming Pool
Embassy Suites Philadelphia – Airport
Philadelphia, PA
Friday, June 16, 2017
The hotel swimming pool at the Embassy Suites wasn’t much... only five feet at the deep end, plus it was indoor, so the smell of chlorine was fairly difficult to ignore. The pool would be no good for diving, but just enough for Aurora Graves to get in a few decent laps, even if they were shorter than the laps she would normally do.
From beneath the surface of the water, Aurora shot up at the deep end of the pool, pushing herself up onto the edge of the pool. Her long blonde hair, drenched from root to end, clung like plastic wrap to the sides of her face. Sitting on the edge of the pool in her black string bikini, she pulled her hair back behind her and smiled.
Aurora: Ah, nothing like a nice swim to relax the body after a long trip, eh? Not only that, but you can get one hell of a workout without wreaking havoc on your joints in the process! And when you’re staring at an ever-shrinking timeframe between now and your next big fight, you gotta stay in shape any way you can. I could go for something a little more strenuous later, but for now, this is a good start.
She lifted her legs up and out of the water, resting her chin against her knees as she smiled.
Aurora: You know, in all of the hubbub of traveling back to the states after WrestleForce – you know, right after your surprise debut – I had almost forgotten just why it is that you really came to Redemption Wrestling. You had hoped to knock a pompous, wanna-be king off of his throne.
She smiled, her eyes half closed as she gave an approving nod.
Aurora: You and me both, Adrien. You and me both! And in a perfect world, you would have gotten your shot at dropkicking him off of his high horse and claiming the Redemption Heavyweight Championship for yourself, but it looks like someone beat you to it. So this begs the question...
Aurora reached down into the pool with her finger, swirling it around in the water before bringing both hands up to her chin. Her face bore the expression of someone deep in thought.
Aurora: Where do you go from here, Adrien? Do you stick with the original idea and make sure every last remnant of “King Matthew” gets beaten out of him until it’s little more than a distant memory? Or do you take the route that makes more sense and go after the new champion. If it were me, I know which path I would take.
But I’m not you, Adrien. Besides, I have my own title to worry about. And as long as I have the Tag Team Championships to think about, that’s going to take priority over any singles championships. That’s not to say that I won’t jump on any singles title shots should they happen to come my way, of course. I may be young, but I’m definitely not stupid!
She stood up, walking toward a nearby lounge chair, her feet leaving a watery trail of footprints as she reached for a thick, white towel. She wrapped it around her hair, squeezing out as much water as she could from her long, blonde locks.
Aurora: We both stand to gain a lot from this match on Sunday, Adrien. A win for either one of us would put us that much closer to a shot at the Heavyweight Championship, and like I said before, I’d be stupid to turn my nose up at that sort of opportunity. With that in mind, it goes back to the idea that I can’t let the respect that I have for you stand in the way of me doing what I have to do to come out the winner in this match.
This Sunday, it ain’t gonna be pretty, Adrien. Friend or foe, I can’t be taken seriously as a singles competitor if I let you walk away from this match with a notch in the win column. This may be your debut here in Redemption Wrestling, and if you were facing anyone else in this match, I’d wish you luck. Hell, I still do...
Aurora sat down on the lounger, but didn’t lean all the way back. Instead, she sat on the edge with her arm resting on her knee. Her skin, still damp from the swim, glistened underneath the harsh fluorescent lights overhead.
Aurora: Except in this case, it’s so that you give me the level of competition that I know you’re capable of. Not that I would expect you to give me anything less, mind you....
She flashed her usual confident smile before slipping her feet into a pair of black leather sandals. Grabbing a large black bag that sat beside the lounger, she slung it over her shoulder and stood up.
Aurora: Not that much longer now, Adrien. Soon, we’ll show all of Redemption Wrestling what the fans that followed #FSociety already know. And that’s no matter where we are on the card, any time you see our names across from each other, they’re in for one hell of a fight. So we might as well give the fans their money’s worth, and show the rest of the card why we’re going to be one tough act to follow...
I for one am not about to let the fans down. I’ll see you on Sunday, Adrien....
Aurora turned to head toward the changing room, but stopped as she felt a buzzing from inside her bag. Reaching inside, she pulled out her cell phone; the caller ID displayed her husband’s picture, along with the word “Puddin’”.
Aurora: Hey, Puddin’! I was just about to get changed and head back to the room. Come to think of it, talking about my upcoming match has me feeling kinda hungry.
Aurora paused as she listened to what the cameras could easily recognize as Damon’s voice, but couldn’t pick up on exactly what he was saying.
Aurora: Yeah, that sounds great! See you in a few minutes!
She ended the call, slipping the phone back into her bag as she shot one final glance over her shoulder. Then, with a quick smile, she disappeared into the next room.
