CAROLINE
the new classic.
"AT THIS POINT, SHOULD PEOPLE STILL BE DOUBTING ME?"
That question presents itself as the scene comes to life and Caroline O'Hara Burchill is seen standing within the confines of a dimly-lighted room. The only light source stems from a few candles that were scattered about the place and Caroline's choice of attire matches the dusky setting. She's dressed in all-black, and a black lace veil is draped over her head as she slowly raises it up to look back at the camera.
Hanging closely by her shoulder was the New Gen Championship - a belt that Caroline has come to have immense pride for since winning it three months ago.
"In all honesty, this whole uncertainty that comes with my name should be cleared up. In the Champion Versus Champion bout at WrestleForce, Redemption Wrestling's biggest event of the year, I was able to hold my own and defeat the Young Lions champion, Jeremy Starling. That match has truly cemented me as the best wrestler that this promotion has to offer. I took on a man that was ready to come at me with everything that he had. Jeremy was driven and more than prepared to step inside the ring with me. Hell, I'll even give him this - he was perhaps the most competitive wrestler that I had to face in a really long time."
Caroline nods her head approvingly, genuinely impressed with the way that Jeremy Starling had been a challenge for her to conquer.
"He had promise, he had potential, and he certainly had the tenacity... but just like many people before him, he eventually kneeled before me. I got the win, and now I can say without the shadow of a doubt that I am by far the greatest New Gen Champion in the history of Redemption Wrestling."
Of course, a small smirk slithers onto the face of the Immaculate One as she appears to be pleased with herself.
"My status keeps rising. I am getting better and better with every match that I have. I become more lethal, more precise and more of a handful that my opponents have to deal with. The competition is steadily increasing and everyone is trying their damn hardest to make sure that they can, at the very least, last more than a few minutes with me."
"I mean, they still can't fucking match me, but hey. The improvement is certainly there, so there's that."
A crass yet dark chuckle escapes from her lips as Caroline, unsurprisingly, has to devalue everyone. She glances over to the belt and sighs contently as she touches it and gives it a few pats.
"And of course, as your reigning New Gen champion, it is in the best interest of both myself and this title that I remain focus and keep my eyes locked on what is in front of me. I must defend and protect what is mine, sharpening my skills and making sure that when the time calls for it, I am more than ready to beat the person in front of me. It just comes with the responsibility of being a champion, and it's definitely expected of you if you wish to make a lasting impact with the gold around your waist. So far, I'd like to think that I am doing a pretty damn good job at being seen as a formidable force."
"As we shift away from WrestleForce, it's clear to see that the Burchill Dynasty has been on a grand expansion. As the wins continue to rack up, the merit of my name will increase tremendously. Of course, I know there is one individual who wants to tear it down and bring an end to my budding empire... and that man is The Jew Blazer. Yet again, we will meet, but it's just a matter of when our paths will cross. He was successful in the Rags to Riches match and I know for a fact that he will have his eyes on me. Just like I will do the same and keep my own eyes on him."
Caroline is serious as she addresses the situation.
"So, Mr. Blazer, if you're watching this... I am more than prepared to take you on. You can try to surprise me, but just know that I will have a few tricks up my sleeves for when we see each other again."
"Until then though, I have a match to focus on. On the eighteenth of June, I will be going one-on-one with a newcomer: Josh Kennedy."
"Now, I know, Josh… you’ve found success elsewhere and you’re undoubtedly going to feel as though you’ll come into Redemption Wrestling with this purpose of wanting to be the best. Of course, what better way to show that you have what it takes to be with the elites by beating the New Gen champion? It seems like something so perfectly written in stone - a way for you to immediately thrust yourself into in the upper echelon of this promotion. It seems amazing, doesn’t it?"
"However, I hope you don't get too carried away with the prospect of possibly beating me."
Caroline's tone of voice grew to be grimmer as she let out that warning to her opponent.
"You can tell yourself that you can and will beat me, but let's be real here. I'm not like all these other wrestlers that you've faced before. I'm an entirely different competitor. Don't let my record or what these other morons have to say about me fool you. When the time comes for me to bring my A-Game, I come out with nothing to hold back. My fury is felt, my wrath is untamed, and I transform into a woman scorned. You can boast about your titles and how you've been on a roll everywhere else, but the fact of the matter is that you are now in Redemption Wrestling and this is where I rule."
"Redemption Wrestling is under the Burchill Dynasty, an empire that is everlasting and will continue to grow at a fervent pace. I'm the one that carries this entire place on my backbone while dealing with the many adversaries that I face. No one better represents this entire promotion than me, and as far as I'm concerned, that fact will continue to prove itself to be true so long as I am the champion."
Bold, direct and determined. All the things that made up Caroline O'Hara Burchill as she continues to flash her championship for everyone to see. Of course, she had to brag about herself.
"Don't believe me? Look back at my first title defense where I was pitted against Silas Subhuman, Martin Karloff and RC Tucker when I was only two weeks removed from becoming the new champion. Go back and watch as I was able to put down Anton Chase - a man with a boatload of experience and championships accredited to my name. And if those weren't enough for you, you can watch my match with Jeremy Starling and see for yourself how I walked out that night being the better champion."
She raises the belt above her head just to further prove her point.
"The simple fact, Josh, is that you won't get an easy win over me. I've defeated fast-rising stars that threatened to take away my rightful possession and veterans that, on any given night, could've gotten one over me. I've faced all kinds of challenges, yet here I am."
"I remain the New Gen champion, I remain being a dominant force, and I will continue to remain unhindered. Try as you might, Sunday night will not bring forth to you your own glory."
Caroline shakes her head, and it almost looks as though she was about done with what she had to say. However, that wasn't the case as she suddenly remembers something and brings the New Gen championship down to her side, looking at it.
"You know... there are rumors circulating that our match might be for this championship. Devlin could just come out and suddenly put more pressure on me to push me even more and challenge whether or not I can get the job done, no matter what surprises might be thrown at me. However, if for some reason those rumors actually come to light... then that's okay."
"Like I said before and I'll say it again, I've done nothing more but rise above the obstacles that have been placed in front of me.
You won't be any different, Josh. You're just a hurdle that I need to get over, and I'm pretty damn sure that I have what it takes to not only beat you..."
"...But also cement myself as the greatest champion that has ever reigned in Redemption Wrestling."
A lowly laugh leaves her lips as Caroline looks at the camera smugly, raising the New Gen Championship back up in the air. The camera focuses in on the belt as it zooms in on it, and for the last few seconds, the belt remains seen until all the candles suddenly blow out. The room is enshrined in darkness and thus, the scene comes to its end.
